'Most Muslims keep extremist literature'

Muslims rarely throw away leaflets containing possible extremist references because it is forbidden by their religion, a childhood friend of a failed Derby suicide bomber told a court.

Irfan Bhatti, who befriended terrorist Omar Sharif when they were at Bemrose School together between 1988 and 1992, told the Old Bailey yesterday that he had such leaflets at home.

But he denied that it meant he or anyone else with the literature held those same extremist views, the court heard.

Omar Sharif, of Northumberland Avenue, Derby, failed to blow himself up in a busy bar in Tel Aviv in 2003.

His accomplice, 21-year-old Asif Hanif, of London, detonated his bomb, killing three people and wounding 65.

Omar (27) fled and his body was found washed up off the Tel Aviv shore 12 days later.

Omar's brother, Zahid (39), and sister Parveen (37) deny failing to disclose information relating to a terrorism act. Parveen also denies inciting terrorism.

The jury had heard that leaflets and other literature of an extremist nature were found during police searches of Omar's home, as well as Zahid's home in Upperdale Road, Normanton, and Parveen's home in Breedon Hill Road after the terror attacks.

But Mr Bhatti told the jury that the literature was forever being handed out inside and outside mosques.

He said that because many of the leaflets contained sections from the Koran, it was against their religion to discard them.

The court heard how Mr Bhatti and Omar were like brothers, even after they separated to go to different sixth-form colleges and when Omar moved to a London university.

He said Omar would often talk to him about marriage, religion and other issues and said he was surprised when he heard of his attempted terrorist attack, as previously Omar had seemed against such actions.

"We had a very good relationship," he added. "We'd discuss everything that was a major issue for him. But I didn't know he'd decided to become involved with suicide bombings.

"I would have expected him to tell me of something so important. It came as a surprise to me that he did what he did."

The court heard Mr Bhatti had once seen Omar helping on a stall run by extremist group Al-Mujaharoun in Derby but said it was because the group was trying to introduce non- Muslims to Islam, a step that his friend would have agreed with.

Mr Bhatti added that he knew Zahid well and Parveen had been extremely helpful when his own mother died.

He said he had heard Zahid discuss fighting on behalf of Muslims but told the jury he would always say that it was forbidden. The trial continues.

I'd assume they've all got a copy of the Koran.

Moderate muslims are those who don't have the stones to implement what they were taught, but applaud those that do.

Could that be because they are all extremist?

Very true, of course. But then the extremists would no longer be "extreme"...they would be "normal" or "typical" muslims.

Don't tell the President or Tony Blair though. It wouldn't fit with their belief that the peaceful religion of Islam has been hijacked.

How long will it be until people who are charged with posession of child pornography use the same defense?

And we, as Americans, rarely "throw away" an entire immigrant group that we have previously welcomed into our country's arms in the name of fairness, opportunity, and the belief that they will see the benefits of assimilating themselves into a greater whole, and creating the American dream for themselves and those around them...

But in this case - as with the extremist literature - it seems astonishingly clear that the material we have to work with is fundamentally unyielding, inflexible, and inherently destructive in nature to all that takes it in and is taken in by it.

SO we ought to rightly reserve for our health as a nation to simply "throw out the trash".

The time is past due for the US to repatriate probably 85% or more of the non-native moslem immigrants back to their countries of origin - or in the case of many first generation types born in the US - back to the country of one of their parents' origin.

If, as so many of them are taught, and then turn around and echo themselves, our western culture is so decadent, and even the "smallest droplet" will corrupt them - then we ought to accomodate their need for religious purity of a type only obtainable in a moslem country.

One way ticket, Steamer class, no shuffleboard on the "Lido" deck, no complimentary camel kebabs or tahini dip

Straight to alla-uzzah's shiny, happy, kuffar-free paradise of 72 lissome, merrily gamboling goat-virgins.

Buh-bye!

You either misread my comment or you simply don't get it. In Islam, violence is not extreme, it is the will of Allah.

Spin doctor for the Rats. Heh, heh. I don't think so. They are anti-war. I am for fighting the war against Islam on all fronts.

Why we haven't begun the last Crusade is beyond me (our enemy has). Strategery, I guess.

I am guessing this claim is just not true. I would think such material could be burned even by strongly observant Muslims or perhaps there is some other way in which it is proper to dispose of old copies of the Koran. Really, there must be.

Not in islam there isn't. that toilet paper book is the word of allah straight into mohammad's ear, it's holy, every word of it, as is the paper it's written on. You just don't get it, do you? One 'desecrated' copy of a koran and they can KILL us all for it!

If we had allowed the immigrants to enter our countries but kept the clerics out, we would have done the moslems the greatest service; the majority of moslems in Australia (and everywhere else for that matter) are herded to prayer like cattle, there are FINES in Malaysia for example for not going to the mosque on Friday and as we all know, sharia provides the death penalty for apostates from islam. The clerics know the mohammadans would not practice this death cult unless they were threatened and coerced with fear of punishments. The clerics also know that islam is in its death-throes, this primitive cult which holds its 'believers' captive and treats its women worse than it treats its donkeys and camels, cannot survive in the West, the children want the same as they see their Western counterparts enjoying, the teenagers want freedom and many young women are risking their lives for that freedom to marry a young man of their choice, to leave home to get away from an abusive father/brother...islam loses more followers in the West than it gains, that's why the clerics resort to prison conversions. What a bad trade-off that is, criminals in exchange for the bulk of the next generation. Criminals will certainly do your bidding, but they will not marry and raise children and worship allah and keep the 'religion' alive. Islam tells us their religion is the fastest-growing on earth...why would we believe that, when everything else they tell us is a lie?

Islam is dying before our eyes. That's what makes islam so dangerous. They want to take us down with them as they slide into their violence-ridden oblivion. It's cleric driven. It's an ancient 'tradition'. It's parasitic. In Arabia, not two hundred years ago, a town would be taken by force, the men killed, the women and children sold into slavery, their possessions taken as 'booty' and the leader would then declare himself Imam and rule his new territory. Nowadays, it's so easy to declare themselves to be a 'learned' man and they too can become a cleric and live off the people they have terrified into submission.

There's no need to drive all the moslems out of our countries. Just get rid of the clerics. The majority of moslems would thank you for it. Those that do not, would end up looking as idiotic as the Malaysian woman I saw on TV last night on Dateline, who said:

'The koran is not a book that anyone can read, not even a moslem can read it, the koran needs to be interpreted by an expert on the subject, someone who knows the meaning and history behind every word.'

Yeah. Right. That's just how the clerics like it. Without their mumbo-jumbo, every 'verse' would be as meaningless to a mohammadan as it is to us when we read it. Without the clerics, the moslems would begin to see the koran for what it is just as we do, and start flushing it. No kidding. Rant over...
