Media Celebrate 2,000 U.S. Dead in Iraq
NewsMax.com ^ | 26 October 2005 | Carl Limbacher

Reporters who ignored the countless acts of heroism by U.S. troops in Iraq, not to mention the incredible progress their efforts have yielded, suddenly can't get enough of the fact that 2,000 of America's heroes have died.

In New York, Wednesday morning's newspapers headlined the news of U.S. dead with what seemed like macabre glee.

"2,000 Dead: As Iraq Tours Stretch On, a Grim Mark," blared the New York Times front page.

Peace Mom Cindy Sheehan is paying tribute to the fallen heroes by stepping up her work to oppose their efforts, pledging to chain herself to the White House fence until President Bush agrees to cut and run.

Start with news that the vote on Iraq's constitution has finally been tabulated. It was ratified by a staggering 79 percent margin - making Iraq the first Arab country to approve a constitution in free election.

While the MSM are busy celebrating this "auspicious" (per Ted Kennedy) occassion I wonder if any will ponder the question of how many would still be alive if those on the left were not offering every encouragement to the terrorists.

It was obvious in advance that this orgy of celebration, a dance on 2,000 graves, would occur. As with most subjects, a dose of truth is the cure for this. What I wrote about on this (link below) was quoted, but not comprehended, by BBC World News yesterday.

Facts are our weapons. Repetition is our method. We need to beat the lib-Dems over the head and shoulders with truth, until only a handful of bewildered psychotics remain standing.

The San Francisco Chronicle, which had already given up any lingering pretensions it may have had of being a real newspaper even before the latest round of layoffs, filled its front page with a photograph of protesters celebrating the 2000 dead, and a bunch of pretty much irrelevant charts and graphs showing the various branches of service and which branches the dead came from -- not as any kind of analytical tool, just to take up space which in a real newspaper would contain actual news.

Accident brings U.S. toll in Iraq to 2,001

By THOMAS WAGNER
The Associated Press

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) — The American death toll reached 2,001 on Wednesday with the announcement that a soldier died in an accident the night before. Three mostly Sunni Arab parties said they have formed a coalition to compete in upcoming parliamentary elections as the minority moves to consolidate its power in the political arena.....

The AP announced this as It is a sacrifice praised in the halls of Congress and mourned by families across a nation that is increasingly asking its leaders to justify a war launched in March 2003 to destroy Saddam Hussein's alleged weapons of mass destruction. None was ever found. Joesph Goebbels, Hitlers propaganda chief, said "if you tell a lie often enough it will be believed". The MSM is the left extremists propaganda machine and they are being very effective at making the war a single-issue initiative. They fail to report that congress authorized the war. They fail to report the tons of yellowcake uranium found in Iraq. They fail to report that Saddam was bribing the UN to allow him to continue his weapons programs. I don't always agree with Michael Savage but his "the enemy within" is an appropriate metaphor.

Remarking on the 'milestone' of 2,000 US service members who have died in connection with the operations in Iraq is such an artificial construct. EVERY death is to be mourned, and is, in its own way and in its own meaning to the loved ones remaining.

The price for giving Iraq a constitutional representative elected government as a republic, and removing the former regime, has been costly in terms of lives, both those of coalition soldiers and Iraqi civilians, but the alternative, that of allowing Saddam Hussein to remain in power, meant only continued repression of some 25 million, a continuing threat to world economic balance, and a source of great amounts of international terrorist money. Did Saddam send the agents that brought down the World Trade Center? Maybe not, but he surely helped pay for their passage when they traveled to the US, the flight training they obtained prior to setting their plans into motion, and maybe even the tickets they used to board the airplanes they hijacked on September 11, 2001.

It is interesting how the liberals are so preoccupied with noting the loss of American lives. If all the abortions in this country last year were spread evenly over all the hours of the year, then the 2000th baby would have died at approximately 1:30 pm, on January 1. Kinda puts it in perspective.

THE REAL STORY

In Memory Of The Thousands Of American Victims of Islamic and Arab TerroristsThese pages are dedicated to the thousands of Americans who have lost their lives either directly or indirectly to Islamic and Arab Terrorists over the past 30+ years. They do not include those who were "merely" wounded in bombings, shootings, stabbings, stonings, torturings, maimings, kidnappings and hijackings.
We will not forget.

Time for a moment of prayer for our soldiers as the MSM supports the terroists by echoing time to get out of IRAQ.

I got this ina na eamil today...

There has been an average of 160,000 troops stationed in Iraq during the last 22 months. During this time the firearm death total was 2,112 for a firearm death rate of 60 per 100,000. The rate in Washington, DC is 80.6 per 100,000. This means you are more likely to be shot and killed in our Nation's Capitol, which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation, than you are in Iraq.

Conclusion: We should immediately pull out of Washington, D.C.

What our “esteemed” media rarely mentions in their celebration of Jihadists victories is that the “2000 dead” include those who have died from accidents, disease and suicide. They are following in the footsteps of their Great Icon of Anti-American Propaganda, Walter Cronkite.
As for the terrorist sympathizer, Cindy Sheehan – news has announced that she plans to celebrate the event by “symbolically dying” and tying herself to the White House fence. Maybe she’ll go to far and make in not just “symbolic” – but then she would be proclaimed a Martyr for The Cause.

Monday night I had the honor of attending, along with several of the members of the DC Chapter of FreeRepublic, a debate at Sherwood High School in Olney, MD.
It left me with two impressions:
1.The people who believe this is an illegal war perpetrated by President Bush for the enrichment of his cronies and Halliburton will never be convinced otherwise, regardless of what we say or do.
and
2.The use of imaginary numbers to further a cause is rampant.
The gentleman from the CATO Institute, who was supposed to be on the "against the war" side, said that 100,000 people had died since the invasion in March 2003.
In any other forum, I would have called him on it and made him furnish the hard data to back up that claim. However the type of forum did not allow for true audience participation.
Rep Wynn was there, and contradicted himself several times in his responses to the questions.
At the very end, all three on the panel agreed that an immediate pullout would be disastrous.
You have Freepmail regarding the debate.

During WWII I don't recall seeing any evidence that the MSM reported deaths by theater. Why all the fuss over a certain number of deaths in the Iraqi Theater of the war on terror?

Just report on the over 5,000 deaths so far in the war on terror.

" I wouldn't give a dime of my money to any of these papers."

The Washington Times, which is the pebble in the shoe of the boot on our face, is available on a weekly subscription basis. Well worth its nominal cost.

Okay, I admit it, I haven't been reading the mainstream newspapers -- I'm behind the Times.
