What you take to be the "hard core religious right" is hardly "hard core", nor are they all that "religious", and some of them even have liberal notions now and then. On the other hand, they are in the overwhelming majority in the Republican party.

If you don't like it, leave.

Please explain your statement "Danforth isn't a Christian anyway...".

I have issues with the Episcopal Chruch and their recent left-ward tilt but I don't think it's fair to say that he's not a Christian.

Yeah, Danforth. Might be time to do some googling.

Well evangelicals got the Republican party where they are. If they don't want us, since we seem to be deemed to revolutionary I would not mind forming our own group.
My guess is what would happen is that the Republicans would no longer be elected to national offices which would go to Democrats, so the Republicans would be forced to either form a coalition or be relegated to the "whig" ash heap of history.

Not to defend Danforth - but you are wrong on Whitman. She supported parental notification and signed such a bill into law during her tenure as governor.

Danforth is part and parcel of the Episcopal problem ~ at the moment they are definitely working off a script not found in the Bible. That makes them some sort of sect ~ and one without a Christian base.

Best bet is to get to work to turn things around, or join a Christian body if that's what you want.

Wow, after losing his credibility during the Waco whitewash he goes and enhances his credibility by spouting off at the clintoon massage parlor and you agree with him.

At the moment it appears that islamists and illegal aliens have more power in the Republican party than conservative Christians,

Danforth, a former Republican senator from Missouri and an Episcopal priest........

Under Democratic President Bill Clinton, Danforth was appointed special counsel in an investigation of the deadly 1993 siege at the Branch Davidian complex in Waco, Texas.

IIRC, not one person was found guilty of any crime in Waco. All I can say, is

RINO repeating RAT talking points.

"So much for a big tent, huh? Maybe it's time for E. Christians to have their own party."

Please don't take the bait. This public insulting (look at the venue!) is part of the plan to split off the E.C. vote in order to put you know who in the WH.

"I'll give you examples: Iraq. Northern Ireland. Palestine."

"I agree completely. And Danforth is an ordained minister! Bravo!"

You completely agree?? This guy sounds a little over the top--a bit extremist to me--hyperbolically ideological.

Evangelicals divisive? Sorry, that role has long been reserved for us Catholics.

I'm one religious moderate (Presbyterian) that finds evangelical Christians to possess much more political wisdom than the folks I sit in the pews with on Sunday.

Republican National Committee spokeswoman Tracy Schmitt declined comment.

This is as disappointing as the rest of the article. Would it kill the RNC to at least pretend they like us?
