HONOLULU - An engineer who calls himself the father of the technology that protects the B-2 stealth bomber from heat-seeking missiles has been arrested and accused of selling U.S. military secrets involving the aircraft to a foreign country, the FBI said. Noshir S. Gowadia, 61, of Haiku was arrested Wednesday.
According to the FBI, Gowadia in 2002 faxed a document detailing infrared technology classified top secret by the Air Force to a foreign official. He also provided classified information to two other countries, the FBI said.
The government would not identify the countries or disclose how much he allegedly received.
Gowadia was an engineer with Northrop Grumman Corp. from 1968 to 1986 and had helped design parts of the B-2's propulsion system that make the bomber difficult to be seen by enemy missiles. The technology remains highly classified.
He was jailed without bail on a charge of willfully communicating national defense information to a person not entitled to receive it, an offense punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
It was not immediately known whether he had a lawyer.
According to state records, Gowadia and his wife own an engineering and consulting company
We are at war he should be tried for treason
He was JUST arrested?? I'm confused. I thought he was arrested 10 years ago.
Hang him for treason.
I a PC era, we dont get worked up about this crap. However, in another age, your ass would soon be in front of a firing squad.....where is belongs today.
I volunteer to bring my 30.06 at no charge to the government.
He should be hung.
Agreed. I heard this on the radio. He sold the secrets to China.
was just gonna post it, Thanks.
This is only a max 10 year crime? incredible.
I can't believe the max is 10 years. He sold the secrets that could help countries down the B2. No doubt China will share the secrets with their good friend Russia.
10 years maximum is ridiculous for putting our national security at risk. Is nothing worth being truly punished anymore?
10 years for betraying the safety and security of the people of the United States. What a sick friggin' joke.
He deserves a bullet in the brainpan followed by drawing and quartering.
Note to Noshir S. Gowadia: Rot in hell, scumbag.
Oh, you guys shouldn't get so upset.
'EVERYBODY' DOES IT.
Why, even our esteemed previous resident of the White House Bill Clinton and his blushing bride Hillary sold top secret defense secrets to the ChiComs....
It is not like it was something important sold to some enemy.
That was sarcasm in case anyone can't figure it out.
Save your ammo I've got a hand saw.
Maybe that's just the first time he's been caught doing it, or maybe he didn't need to do that until the stock market nosedive made him need to find a new source of income.
OK OK, let's compromise, how 'bout
Hang him for 10 years!
Regards,
GtG
It USED to be life without parole...before that, it was death if two or more witnesses could verify treasonous activities. Sad.
"....he should be tried for treason"
Don't disagree.....but IR technology has been making exponential strides - it is likely that this will have minimal impact on the survivability of the B2 over what it would have been without this info being passed on.
Technological advantages have increasingly short half lives.......regardless, hang 'em high would be my verdict.
Is he even a citizen?
You are so correct...

Faxes to overseas phone numbers are really easy for the NSA to capture. They probably have a copy of every fax sent to China during the last 20 years.
A 10-year crime?
It will result in the deaths of thousands of Americans.
It is a case of murder.
China has been "buying" trade secrets for some time now. It happens quite often here in the Silicon Valley.
I guess that's one way to finance a house on Maui.

A guy gets to come and work here at a good salary then betrays us for money. I hope he rots in prison.
THAT"S IT! Invoke the War Powers Act and stand him in front of a firing squad without delay.
He did nothing more than was done by X42. What's the problem?
Hanged, not hung.
Once Father of Stealth,
Caught selling B-2 secrets.
Assumed not be seen.
Bull, He stole property and stole it. Capitalism and free trade have nothing to do with theft.
The United States learned about the Chinese theft of the W-88 Trident D-5 warhead information, as well as about the theft of information regarding several other thermonuclear weapons, in 1995. A walk-in approached the Central Intelligence Agency outside the PRC and provided an official PRC document classified Secret that contained specific design information on the W-88 Trident D-5, and technical information on other thermonuclear warheads. The CIA later determined that the walk-in was directed by the PRC intelligence services. Nonetheless, CIA and other Intelligence Community analysts that reviewed the document concluded that it contained U.S. warhead design information. The PRC has the infrastructure and technical ability to use elements of the stolen U.S. warhead design information in the PLAs next generation of ther-monuclear weapons. If the PRC attempted to deploy an exact replica of the US W-88 Trident D-5 warhead, it would face considerable technical challenges. However, the PRC could build modern thermonuclear warheads based on stolen US design information, including the stolen W-88 design information, using processes similar to those developed or available in a modern aerospace or precision guided munitions industry.
