Very few production companies nowadays have no ties to Hollywood.
Well critics are going to promote what they like regardless. There's so many of them that there's plenty to balance it out. And with the Internet even more so. And the ties to Hollywood are in distribution for sure. It's virtually impossible for an indie distributor it seems. They are all big studio based. P.S. 'Boys Don't Cry' was miserable!
