Yes, and the battle with the rogue CIA continues.

Darn - who was it who said it's like watching a poodle in a pond full of alligators - what in the world? COME ON W. You're clearly capable of toughness - please direct some at your OPPONENTS FOR A CHANGE. Good grief.

For good or evil, George W. Bush will have to cross the Rubicon on judicial nominations, politicized indictments, Iraq, the greater Middle East, and the constant frenzy of the Howard Dean wing of the Democratic party — and now march on his various adversaries as never before. He can choose either to be nicked and slowly bled to death in his second term, or to bare his fangs and like some cornered carnivore start slashing back.

Is it possible that one thing we've learned from the Bush administration is that he is just too nice to fight the political battles?

Will the nominating process in the future include at least some focus on a persons history of kicking some ass?

Sounds like Newt to me. Maybe Rudy? General Honore?

Sorry, you won't see Bush whine.

But he will win in the end.

I guess that is a good thing for the President to do.

This way, he has addressed the situation personally, with the obvious "innocent until proven guilty" mantra, and the FRAUDcasters can't say he's completely hiding from them.

I'm hoping that he nominates someone for the USSC tonight, or Tuesday evening at the latest.

Is he torque'd enough to lay it out straight what he thinks about the whole Niger trip? He needs to get a little nasty about this coup attempt. Compassionate conservative maybe, but he needs to fillet the story that only WE seem to think has already been discredited about Plame and her skunk of a husband.

That was brief and to the point. I have to say I think the President is PO'ed!

This may sound harsh...but I'd be PO'd, too, if a key aide lied to the FBI and the grand jury.

This whole Libby situation is so stupid, because they can't find an underlying crime. If he hadn't lied...nothing more would have come of this.

Inspiring!

To the battlements, conservatives!

Once again, Bush has eloquently rallied us to his standard!

Seriously, was there some point to this "statement"? Why come out and say 30-some words that mean practically nothing? Is there some hidden DC code that I'm just not groking here? Was there something about his body language or tone of voice that doesn't come across on the net? WTF?

Maybe Bush finally has figured out we're in a war at home with people who criminalize conservative ideas and passions. Maybe he's figured out that the strength of his personality will not work in resisting vicious minds. It's time to apply a little of our own political "shock and awe."

I think if he dems were hoping he's be nice to them, work with them, and nominate someone they like... they just hurt their cause. He looks pissed. I'd say he's more likely to nominate someone that we freepers like now.... :)

It wouldn't help things for the president to go off half-cocked and rant on television that the charges are bogus and politically motivated. Fight it through the legal system and Libby wil have his day. Indictments are one thing, convictions are a whole 'nother animal.

By the brevity of the Presdient's remarks and his demeanor, I'd say he was really pissed off.

I just saw it - my Tivo was behind.

Yep he looked really, really pissed. Libby was an advisor to Bush too.

Fitzgerald claimed during the press conference that his investigation was over "national security" of the highest order. What a full of it jerk. I couldn't believe it when he said that. It was all about a political attempt to embarass the Bush administration through a devious rogue CIA op, with Plame and Wilson the main players.

Did anyone else get the impression that he is not that bright? His explanation of the investigation was painfully wordy and simple. At first I thought it was for the benefit of the press but then he told that baseball analogy which was silly. He also said "no one would have had to went to jail..." The difference listening to him versus John Roberts (who was also an attorney at one point), was astonishing!

You are absolutely right. After all the Investigation is still ongoing!

It was absolutely the right thing to do at this point. Have already soiled myself looking at the garbage posts from the DUmmies and the Kos Kiddies saying that the President high tailed it out of town and using a war on terror speech as cover.

I did not get to see the coverage, but I hope our President looked as angry as he sounded. Could be that he has come to realize that there is no middle ground with the traitors (ie, MSM, left, demoncrats) of this country.
