It's funny. I was stationed at Camp Lejeune for a while and, at Quantico, Lejeune Hall was the "Head Shed". But I never really knew anything about General Lejeune. Sure did hear a lot about Chesty Puller, though. And I've read a biography of him. What a guy!

Also available for purchase is a U.S. Marine Corps silver dollar with a memorial of the raising of the flag on Iwo Jima on one side and the Corp's emblem on the other side.

"We are honored to be the first military service to receive a commemorative coin issued by the United States Mint. And we are particularly pleased that proceeds from this coin will help build the Marine Corps National Museum in Quantico (Va.)," said Marine Corps Assistant Commandant, Gen. William L. Nyland.

Was it fairly common to report on soldiers as heroes in WWII? In other words, when an act of incredible heroism occurred, when a victory was won, you heard about it, right?

It just seems odd that you have to dig so incredibly hard to find anything about the bravery that we know is going on every day.

Maybe it's just the philosophy that there's a job to do and a mission to accomplish, maybe the protection of families. I just find it odd that there is so very little recognition for the individuals who are out there giving us there all.

My husband was stationed at Camp LeJeune too. In 1969-70. We got married at Camp Geiger. Are you familiar with any of that?

Yes, I am. I was at Camp Geiger from about early April to late May of 1970. N Company, Second Battalion, ITR. Didn't think much of the place. When I was done there, they sent me over to mainside and I went to bookkeeping/accounting school at Montford Point where the cooks and truck drivers all went to school. But I didn't live there. I lived mainside.
Once I finished that school, I went to Quantico. Stayed there until I got out. I thought I had died and gone to heaven after being at Camp Lejeune. ":^o

About $40 each..by the time they get to your door.

They're beautifully struck, and beautifully packaged.
Inside the outer cardboard slip case, is a jewelry type snap case and inside that is the USMC Silver Dollar - sealed between clear plastic discs..

A first rate job....

Semper Fi

Evidently you didn't notice my "hehhehheh" there, eh? Calm down. We're both on the same side. There's no need for you to go pronouncing anyone unfit for anything on the basis of one misunderstood remark.
