State Street March Will Support Bush Ouster (Madistan, WI)
Madison.com ^ | October 28, 2005 | Aaron Nathans

Can't wait until January 2009 to see a change at the White House? Activists throughout the country are taking to the streets on Wednesday to spread the message that they'd like to see change before the next presidential election.

Legally, of course.

Organizers of "The World Can't Wait" hope to see more than 1,000 people march down State Street to mark the one-year anniversary of the 2004 election. They will gather at 12:30 p.m. at Library Mall, and walk to the Capitol.

The Madison event will be one of dozens on campuses throughout the nation.

"There is no exact blueprint for doing something like this," said national coordinator Debra Sweet, originally of Madison. She cited Richard Nixon's resignation in 1974 as a blueprint for the group's goal. Nixon was re-elected by a landslide in 1972, only to resign under threat of impeachment two years later.

Things were different then. Namely, there was a Democratic Congress, as opposed to a Republican Congress now.

Nevertheless, the group hopes to inspire a movement to change even the makeup of Congress.

"The only way to do this is to build a movement of millions and millions of people who didn't want him the first time, and a significant numbers who didn't want him the second time," said Sweet, speaking of President Bush. Sweet lives in New York, where she will march. She said her parents will march in the Madison rally.

Rachel Friedman, the local organizer, said the idea is for people to walk out of school and work, bring people with them, and make a statement about their feelings on the government.

"That's what November 2nd is all about. There's a lot of people that feel paralyzed. I don't think it's truly apathy, although there's certainly an element of that. It's more a feeling of being so disempowered and disenfranchised in a country that's supposed to be a democracy, that they're not sure what they're supposed to do," Friedman said.

She said she hopes the event will inspire people to call or send e-mails to their members of Congress, send letters to local newspapers, and to speak up in general.

"I talk to so many people, they say they're embarrassed to be American. People are angry, upset, tired of being lied to," Friedman said.

There are many organizations behind the movement, including the Progressive Democrats of America, the After Downing Street Coalition, several smaller peace groups, as well as "our share of religious people, Communists, anarchists, academics," and celebrities such as author Gore Vidal and actor Ed Begley Jr., Sweet said.

The Revolutionary Communist Party "was very helpful in initiating this, bringing a lot of people into it," Sweet said.

"In July, this was a crazy idea for a lot of people. Going into November, with...the delegitimacy of this regime, about what they've done in Iraq in particular, people are seeing a real possibility you could see Bush leaving office before 2009," Sweet said. "2009 is too late."

The mindless, stupid libs are so intellectually disfunctional, they cannot see who and what they are. They need to move to Iran and live for a few years -- that would straigten out their warped, low-IQ minds real fast.

They're in sheer panic. Over the next three years, we can accomplish the following, if we only have the guts to use our majority:

- Secure the souther border
- Eliminate the IRS and institute a flat national sales tax (or, at the very least, make the tax cuts permanent and eliminate some rather onerous taxes like the death tax)
- Pack the SCOTUS with conservatives, which will take away their last bastion of power, as well as overturn Roe v. Wade

They know that we can do all of these things, as long as we maintain our resolve. The 2006 election is critical, and we need to make as many gains where Dems are vulnerable, but we can destroy Marxism in this country if we set our minds to it. They know this and d*mn if they're not trembling from it.

The difference between communists and the lib dems seems to grow smaller and smaller every day.

W isn't with us on that.

Very possible if the GOP has the balls

- Pack the SCOTUS with conservatives, which will take away their last bastion of power, as well as overturn Roe v. Wade

Meirs wasnt a good sign, but hopefully going forward we can do so.

Say what you want about Madistan, but the city knows how to party! When I was in college, State Street was DA BOMB! (it will literally when the annual Halloween party commences). The street has no traffic, just lined with bars and shops and people milling about. Don't let the liberal lunatics get to you. Madison is a nice city and has consistently ranked in the Top Ten of cities to live in.

On another note, how did Madison, WI, get to be such a radical hotbed of this garbage? Yeah, the university is there. But you have all these crazy, fringe wacko communist, destroy God nutso groups there, too.

Maybe, having lived in Knoxville, Oxford, and Laramie, I just never made that connection between a having a university and the whole town going nuts.

Yes, as the state capital, it sucks money from the pockets of people from around the state and spends a disproportionate amount on itself - roads, parks, universities, you name it. (The same formula applies to many other state capitals.) Samll wonder it's a Top Ten city. You could take the same formula and transform a toxic wasteland into Paradise.

And if you do, you'll attract the usual freeloading libs too.

What the lefties really mean is that since they can't elect anybody, they'd would like to overthrow the legitimately elected government by any means necessary. Madison has more than its share of reality-challenged little Marxists. Most lefties are nothing but little fascists in waiting as history has proved.

This "World Can't Wait" nonsense is the lamest thing the lefties have come up with yet. They have no strategy whatsoever! Their website basically says the whole project is about having one day (Nov. 2nd) when some number of malcontents assembles publicly and vaguely demands that the President resign, and then pffft! Nothing! WTF?!? Can they really think that anything will come of this?

"Madison is a nice city and has consistently ranked in the Top Ten of cities to live in."

It is not without its charms. However, I live ten miles south of the city and have sworn an oath to never work in Madistan ever again. DH, too. The politics and the way the city and their "Progressive" Mayor conduct themselves is disgusting. And moderates and conservatives alike in the area are finally sitting up and taking notice. What happens in Madistan effects ALL of us in Wisconsin, as it's our seat of Government...and they totally live in their own little world, passing laws that effect the rest of us. It's total "taxation without representation" in many, many situations.

There's currently a movement to recall the Mayor. We'll see how far they get, but I'm not holding my breath.

The Free-For-All this Halloween weekend is going to cost taxpayers in excess of $50K for extra police services alone, not to mention how it taxes our EMTs, ties up our ambulances, our jails have moved 60 inmates to other facilities to make room in The Drunk Tank for idiot college kids boozing it up, our Emergency Rooms will be taxed, etc. They may as well shut down the rest of the city and not provide services to anyone else in need this weekend; that's how ridiculous it is.

I was leaving the Sox celebration here in Chicago and saw two men with this HUGH green 'World Can't Wait' banner. There is supposed to be a rally here at Noon Nov 2 in the Federal Plaza. I guess this is happening in every city.

Didn't know they were commies, I assumed it was C.A.N.S.W.E.R.

Wait a minute...As I was walking near the plaza I saw some guys handing out fliers, so I crossed the street to avoid them and I think I saw a large photo of a child and above it a caption about '100,000 Dead' and how many more or something. So they were in force here today.

The only drawback to your plan is that the leftist scumbags will have more children than at present, when it is mostly Republican and Hispanic Christians who are having children.

Next time, go back with a sign showing the number of abortions in America each year: 1,370,000. Number of traffic deaths per year: 48,000. Smoking deaths: 40,000. Find out the street violence death toll for the nearest large city -- for instance, in Baltimore and Washington combined, the street death toll exceeds the number of soldiers killed per year since the beginning of the Iraqi conflict: 782.
