Hugh Hewett and FR.
JohnHuang2- I bet she thinks you're the best brother she could have. Glad to hear from you. Take care.
I've avoided nothing. As soon as you make a relevent point worth answering, I'll consider responding.
>>>> ..., and instead take issue with me.
You make yourself the issue.
Aw Luis, you nailed it. Again.
GOOD to know you're OK!
Repairs can be made.
YOU are not replaceable!
Source?
Also, think back to the reaction both Lindsey Graham and the whiner from Ohio suffered when they made that deal about the judges.
The political realities have changed.
To a point I agree, but we caused the President to do to Miers what we said was so terrible that Clinton did to Lani G on her nomination.
That process is to be handled by the Senate. We were two faced on that issue, whether within the party or the opposition.
I'm not making talking points for DU. The conservatives, in forcing Bush's hand did. They forced him to abandon (no matter what was done, let's face it, she was jetisoned) the person he said was most qualified to hold the associate justice seat. It made him look like he didn't know what he was doing, which opens another pandora's box.
So everyone was supposed to remain quiet and withhold all criticism, so the President could LOOK GOOD?
Can't follow that sylogism. We are the party in power and can react differently than we expect the party of power (the conquered) to act. That's being family, not being two-faced.
An angry base is a happy base :-)
No we should never be silent. But if we're not in power after a reasonable time of debate it's eventually time to give an up or down vote to judicial nominees, and we have done that and that was both proper and per constitutional process. That's what our expectation and demand should be to the Democratic minority. Sure they get to play up to the TV for a spell, but then vote for cloture and then vote. Don't read too much into what I said - those Clinton policy issues were legislative inititives and we have the constitutional right to scream, kick, and derail them. Re: judicial nominess (the topic) we also have the right to raise hell with our party for playing bait and switch. We did, they listened, we won, and we should be proud.
No, you are making a wholly illegitimate comparison. Your moral equivalency is typical of the American Bolsheviks during the cold war. But now it's very interesting that you refer to "conservatives" as if they are something "other" to you. And George Bush. Go back to the DU, you troll!
You might want to keep a eye on this one... He's a very long-time freeper, but we've seen some of those gone bad... A scan over his last 100 posts show him attackig conservatives in virtually every post. One minute he's hating the anti-Miers crowd for makig the president look stupid, the next minute he's attacking the president like some hack at the 04 DNC.
I only point out the hypocracy of much of what happens. On both sides of the aisle. We just seem to claim it never happens on our side when in fact with the whole Miers episode we did exactly that.
