I normally don't watch deFaced The Nation, but Bob Schieffer was going off on some unbelieveable rant at the end of his show. I consider Panetta to be one of the most insidious liars of the Clinton gang.

I clearly remember him telling Tim Russert, upon being questioned about Clinton's out-of balance big-spending first budget proposal, that balanced budgets are not important. Russert hit him repeatedly on the point, and he and Laura Tyson insisted that a balanced budget is not their priority, and not important. They would not be proposing a balanced budget, as all their great spending ideas were the important thing.

Subsequently, Pannetta built a career on taking credit for the semi-balanced budget that Newt and Kasich forced Clinton to accept. Nearly everyone, right and left, now considers him a great voice of fiscal rectitude. He's not an honest man.
