I recommend that FReepers check their local library for DVD's, incl. your library's version of inter-library loan. In some library in your city is a copy of the old or recently-released DVD that you want.

Senor Zorro - there are NO great liberal stories.

By the way, I plan to see your latest movie. I loved the first and Zorro has always been one of my favorite folk heros - right up there with Robin Hood

Conservatives in Hollywood

The title of one of the shortest books ever written.

Some others are:
Liberal War Heroes
The Ethics of the Democrat Party

You forgot "Famous Jewish Sports Legends" ;)

The last film I saw in theaters was "Fantastic Four" and although it was an entertaining film, I was disappointed by a lead character saying "goddamn". That word didn't have to be used, the producers just threw it in (probably toget a PG-13 rating.) You can't even take the kids to a family film anymore without cringing, wondering what sh*tty unnecessary grime that Hollywood is going to inflict upon you.

Hate to spoil an otherwise good article, but it was the "anti-establishment" films of the 70s,

I don't know that you'd call Patton, True Grit, Dirty Harry, the French Connection and the Exorcist "anti-establishment" unless you are marking the very good case that the establishment was the left. Granted there was gore and bad words in those movies, but all espoused conservative values.

And actually, the top grossers in 1970-- Love Story and Airport -- were rather uncontroversial.

Check the top all-time top grossers (adjusted gross). Few of the films could be called edgy.

I was just watching a special on "The Exorcist". It said that Jane Fonda was one of the first choices for the mother, but she turned it down and called it a "bourgeois piece of #%$^&$%#$

My favorite Sci-Fi author Orson Scott Card rights political essays and he also reviews everything including books and lots of movies. Check his reviews here: http://www.hatrack.com/osc/reviews/everything/index2005.shtml

Good article. Evan Coyne Maloney, mentioned toward the end, has a great website with many video shorts covering his experiences with the left - protests, on campus, even a street interview with Michael Moore.

Ronstadt was more specific. She didn't like knowing that Republicans or fundamental Christians were in the audience.

Hollywood doesn't need to bring back the production code.

He wasn't advocating a return to the Hays Code.

“I believe there’s a hero in all of us, that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble, and finally allows us to die with pride, even though sometimes we have to be steady, and give up the thing we want most. Even our dreams.”

...My favorite movie of all time for depicting duty, honor and sacrifice.

Depicts an American (Irene Dunne) who marries into an aristocratic and patriotic English family prior to WWI and ending during WWII as American troops enter into the war in Europe.

This is without doubt the most moving and patriotic movie I have ever seen in my life.

The business model Hollywood has depended on for about a century is disintegrating, Humpty Dumpty style, and all MGM's horses, and all Oliver Stone's men, will not be able to put Humpty Dumpty back together again.

If you'll pardon the mixed metaphor, there's a new sherrif in town. WWW Earp.

I must respectfully disagree. I enjoy seeing women in action roles, and I know lots of guys (including conservative guys) who also enjoy them. Also, even with the increase in female action roles, men in action movies still far outnumber women.

You call this politically correct, but I know several young women and teenage girls who have taken an interest in guns (a very politically INcorrect thing) after seeing women in those so-called politically correct action roles. Also, I've heard that several of the actresses themselves, after learning about guns for their roles, have come to enjoy shooting and lost their gun-phobia that's so common in liberal thinking. What you call political correctness is helping the conservative cause.

Oh, ok. I assumed that because thats what the tone seems to be of the whole piece. It seems to be suggesting that what Hollywood needs to do is make more movies with family values, morals, less sex and violence, etc.... and thats wrong imo. The problem ,like I said, is that Hollywood is too politically correct.

It mentions how much money Pg and Pg-13 movies make in comparison to Rs, and theyre wrong about that too. R rated movies make more when you take in consider their budgets, they tend to cost less than Pg and Pg-13s.

This article has a political agenda, just like Hollywood does.
