Its probably a strategic move for Margaret, she can get on MSNBC, CNN, Air America to promote her sagging comedy tour sales.

I agree with your comments. Gwen first hooked me with the melody of "Don't Speak", and the line "Don't tell me cause it hurts" is one of those simple statements that just rings so true. And quite frankly, I'm sure she didn't write them for middle-aged men to enjoy...I just couldn't ignore it.

I love TALENT no matter where it surfaces, and if the hype is attached to talent, all the better--as in beautiful Gwen's case. Otherwise, hype in itself does absolutely nothing for me.

If I could write one song half as good as "Don't Speak" (written when she was what, 18, 19?), I'd quit my job and pursue songwriting fulltime, instead of just as a creative outlet from boring financial business!

Her comedy tour ain't the only thing that's sagging.

So true. It is amazing to think how young she was when she first started writing, amazing. And at the time when 'NO Doubt' first came on the charts, there was pop music like Britney Spears, all showy and no 'real' music. The differences between them - staggering.

And quite frankly, I'm sure she didn't write them for middle-aged men to enjoy...I just couldn't ignore it.

LOL, but I think she wrote them for everyone. I, too, am not in her 'typical' fan base.

Exactly. I also enjoy other music where I am not a typical 'fan'. Just music. It's refreshing to hear actual musical talent. A beautiful, haunting lyrics, real music played on real instruments.

Me, too! Amazing. And so far, I hear she is still very much a 'regular' person, not a diva (i.e. Whitney). That, too, is refreshing.

Strategy indeed. And why not (with some sarcasm)? From her perspective, just find a perceived wrong and go on air crying 'foul'. Think of all the lefties 'celebs' just lately who have tried to jump start stalling careers just this way - Linda Rondstat lashed out at Bush, Kanye West (though not stalling), Bette Midler, Madonna. I'm sure there are more, but I don't want to pay them any more mind than I have to. LOL, and that's one less day that AirAmerica won't have to struggle to fill time slots, she'll do them a favor.

And Margaret has a tour to support, it's probably a financial decision.

A little free publicity and marketing? I guess she has to make a living, too. But what a way to do it, it seems she's jumped on the race baiting wagon for now.
