Bruce Willis does his part for troops (Actor tried to join military, but told he was too old)

Actor Bruce Willis wanted to serve his country as far back as the Gulf War.

His friends laughed at him, telling him he was too old.

Undaunted, Willis looked into himself – only to find out they were right. He was too old.

So the star of "Die Hard," "The Sixth Sense," "Hostage" and dozens of other movies, did the next best thing.

He traveled to Iraq with his band, the Accelerators, to entertain troops with the USO. He is also planning to join returning troops at Fort Lewis in Washington state Nov. 5.

Ok, my appreciation for Bruce Willis is starting to come back. Any Hollyweird type who was and is willing to do something for the troops is close to ok in my book.

Bruce Willis is a Republican, or at least that's what I've read.

As long as youre fit and under 40, many can get an age waiver. May take a few tries, but certainly in the realm of possibility. Course, Willis is a bit older than 40

I'm surprised they didn't just give him a position as a recruiter, film a few ads and such.

Has anybody suggested reviving war bonds?

I wonder if his patriotism and/or conservatism had anything to do with the marriage breakup between him and miss plastic tatas?

I had some buddies stationed in Idaho that bought a condo at Sun Valley for ski trips. They met Bruce Willis one weekend and he joined them for a them for an evening of bar hopping. After that weekend he joined them regularly when they'd go up to ski. He was very supportive of the military, and hung out with them just like one of the guys. For their part, they couldn't have cared less if he was an actor or a bus driver. He was just a fun guy to party with.

Reminds me of Bogart. He fought in WW1. And he wanted to fight in WW2 but was turned down because of his age. They don't make them like they use too.

I have really enjoyed several of his movies, and I always suspected he was a pretty good guy, even though, of course, you can't tell about a person just by that.

Thanks for the story and the confirmation.

BRUCE WILLIS ON GORE 2000

"If you guys vote for Al Gore, you're out of your minds… Gore's a knucklehead… just the lying and mendacity of the last eight years of the regime that Al Gore was a part and parcel of… I mean, there is only so much lying the American people will take before they go, 'Uh, this doesn't seem like a good idea.' You have to look at what he does and what he stands for."

Bruce Willis gives some big lumps to the lefties

His flicks are some of the few worth seeing - again and again

Like Mel Gibson - Clint Eastwood - James Woods

Do I see a pattern here?
