I am inclined to suspect this of all "movements" - including the conservative "movement".

it is my baseline assumption that movement leaders consider their followers to be "suckers".

This assumption can be confirmed or falsified by empirical evidence.

So far as I can tell, NO movement is entirely free of this, and few movements are not dominated by this.

And so... my contempt for "groupthink" and "identity politics" and "movements" grows ever more set.

Note that "Sendero Luminoso" manages quite well without having the words: "people's" or "movement" or "democratic" or "front" in their name.
