Posted on 11/03/2005 12:21:25 PM PST by areafiftyone
French Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy said Thursday that the riots in several Paris suburbs over the previous night were "not spontaneous" but rather "well organized."
"What we saw in the department of Seine-Saint-Denis overnight was not spontaneous, it was perfectly organized. We are looking into by whom and how," Sarkozy told French news channel i-tele.
The interior minister also said the government would not allow "troublemakers, a bunch of hoodlums, think they can do whatever they want" in the country.
A force of 1,000 police were assigned late Thursday to Seine-Saint-Denis, following the previous night of violence which affected about half of the 40 towns in the department, mostly communities of immigrants from Africa, officials said.
Maybe they should call the Israeli's for help.
They better start restricting immigration and begin the mass deportations or this will be a regular event in France and the rest of Europe. Of course, they probably won't, but they should. It's a wakeup call and France will probably hit the snooze bar.
I'm surprised to hear that the French can "explode". And I am waiting to see just what that looks like. Any historical references would help.
I think the people are throwing off the yoke of liberalism.
Uh-oh, now you've gone and done it. The hoodlums are not gonna like that yogi. Now they're REALLy going to get mad.
I'm in agreement. It'll be bloody and largely unreported, and I'll find myself in the rare position of rooting for the French.
Dans un village noir de charbon
Dans les ch'minées et les corons
Tout p' tit il battait ses copains
Il était fier de ses deux poings
Presqu' autant qu' son père le mineur
Qui disait: " Ça f' ra un boxeur "
Le jour de son premier combat
Fallait un nom, l' en avait pas
Comme la mode était à l' anglais
Il s' appela " Battling Joe "
C' était un peu démesuré
Pour un gosse aux épaules étroites
Mais qui avait une méchante droite
Do you have references to France "unleashing the hounds"?
Look at French colonial history, especially in Algeria. You'll find that the French can be amazingly brutal when they set their minds to it.
It is hard to not have some schadenfreude over all this after the way they carried on about how we mis-managed Katrina.
great site..post those two pics of France and Baghdad..lol! I would, but have not ever posted pics before. That is too funny!! LOL
Look up Algeria some time. They were brutal.
The French accomplished their moral capitulation decades ago and as a national entity, have long been regarded as a disgrace...it would be expecting nearly the impossible for them draw a line in the sand now.
Hey, who is the French guy in cuffs in the third pic from the top?
Seriously though, keep the pics coming fanfan. I'm sending them to people who need to see them.
And don't forget that France was the first modern totalitarian state.
11,000 SOLDIERS BY MAJOR DON FICHTHORN
Eleven thousand soldiers
lay beneath the dirt and stone,
all buried on a distant land
so far away from home.
For just a strip of dismal beach
they paid a hero's price,
to save a foreign nation
they all made the sacrifice.
And now the shores of Normandy
are lined with blocks of white:
Americans who didn't turn
from someone else's plight.
Eleven thousand reasons
for the French to take our side,
but in the moment of our need,
they chose to run and hide.
Chirac said every war means loss,
perhaps for France that's true,
for they've lost every battle
since the days of Waterloo.
Without a soldier worth a damn
to be found within the region,
the French became the only land
to need a Foreign Legion.
You French all say we're arrogant.
Well hell, we've earned the right--
We saved your sorry nation
when you lacked the guts to fight.
But now you've made a big mistake,
and one that you'll regret;
you took sides with our enemies,
and that we won't forget.
It wasn't just our citizens
you spit on when you turned,
but every one of yours
who fell the day the towers burned.
You spit upon our soldiers,
on our pilots and Marines,
and now you'll get a little sense
of just what payback means.
So keep your Paris fashions
and your wine and your champagne,
and find some other market
that will buy your aeroplanes.
And try to find somebody else
to wear your French cologne,
for you're about to find out
what it means to stand alone.
You see, you need us far more
than we ever needed you.
America has better friends
who know how to be true.
I'd rather stand with warriors
who have the will and might,
than huddle in the dark
with those whose only flag is white.
I'll take the Brits, the Aussies,
the Israelis and the rest,
for when it comes to valor
we have seen that they're the best.
We'll count on one another
as we face a moment dire,
while you sit on the sideline
with a sign, "friendship for hire."
We'll win this war without you
and we'll total up the cost,
and take it from your foreign aid,
and then you'll feel the loss.
And when your nation starts to fall,
well Frenchie, you can spare us,
just call the Germans for a hand,
they know the way to Paris.
Don Fichthorn, Major USMC (Retired)
The descendants of those Algerians are the problem.
Algeria was over 40 years ago.
Media calls it a riot, but you're right, insurrection is a better description. After seven nights, this is obviously a campaign, more fitting with insurrection than riot.
A wild or turbulent disturbance created by a large number of people.
The act or an instance of open revolt against civil authority or a constituted government.
