Family members are investigating what they consider to be suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a nursing home patient at the center of a life and death tug-of-war reminiscent of the Terri Schiavo tragedy.
Seventy-nine-year-old Jimmy Chambers died in the early morning hours of Oct. 24 after the tracheotomy tubes that deliver oxygen from a ventilator to a hole in his neck became unhooked. Family members were told Chambers, a resident of the Anne Maria Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in North Augusta, S.C., apparently pulled the interlocking tubes apart.
"We're having it investigated. We're just incredulous," Chambers' daughter, Deanna Potter, told WND in reference to her siblings. "The last time I saw dad he was blowing me a kiss. I blew him one and he blew one back."
The retired dispatcher for Holland Motor Express died approximately 10 hours later. His death certificate indicates he died of "natural causes."
"Apparently, suffocation is a 'natural cause' when you're on a ventilator. We're contesting that," said Potter. "He suffocated. He didn't just pass away. He struggled and fought. And I'm just so angry."
Potter estimates it would have taken 10 to 14 minutes for her father, deprived of oxygen, to fall unconscious, and questions why the nursing home staff didn't come to his aid.
"The oxygen-saturation meter and his ventilator both would have had alarms going off. Four-thirty, five o'clock in the morning you'd think someone would hear this," she added. "That's the thing that really bothers me and makes me suspicious."

The Fla Elections Commission and the Judicial Qualifications Commission are as illegitimate as Michael Schiavo's children.
FV, that judge has broken so many rules and laws, do you really think this will make a difference? He wasn't even qualified to run for office, yet did and won. What do we hear? *crickets*
The more I read, and personally see, the more contempt I have for our judical system. Everything I was taught about our system of law and order is bullshit, and I'm guilty of propagating the lie to my children.
Having said that, anyone in Florida should persue the matter, if only to feel that you've done your best to address malfeasance on Greer's part.

Judge Greer, others honored for professional commitment
A number of Florida Bar members were recognized at The Florida Bars recent Annual Meeting in Orlando. Among the awards presented were:
Presidents Award of Merit Presented to Judge George Greer So that he could receive the award in front of his peers, the Judicial Luncheon was the setting for Sixth Circuit Judge George Greer, the trial judge in the Terri Schiavo case, to receive the Presidents Award of Merit.
Those who know Judge Greer and practice in front of him believe he is the ideal jurist, said President Kelly Overstreet Johnson. He is fair, he is impartial, and his rulings are based on law, not emotions and not politics.
Despite a stellar career, Judge Greers knowledge and integrity were monitored and commented upon by the world at large, as he weighed the facts of an extremely difficult case, and applied the law as he saw it. Yet Judge Greer, a hardworking judge committed to the rule of law, to the independence of the judiciary, and to the fundamentals of American democracy, received as a result of his efforts hate mail and death threats resulting in 24-hour security, had to move out of his home, and was asked to leave his church, all in the course of doing his job.
For his longstanding dedication to our system of justice, for his work in the Terri Schiavo case, and for the personal hardships he has suffered as a result, it is my great honor to present Judge George Greer with the Presidents Award of Merit.
Participants at the Judicial Luncheon responded with a rousing standing ovation.
In accepting the award, Judge Greer said: When you honor me today, you really honor the entire judiciary.
FV SAYS: It's really takes MERIT to kill an innocent woman and he got a standing O. Florida is the Starvation State.
There are no illegitimate children, only illegitimate parents. It is not the child's fault for the circumstances surrounding his/her birth. Most of the time it's the usual deal, however I'm sure some idiot will mention the circumstances regarding THEIR birth. they need prayers.
Well no kidding about how women conceive children. I'd like to know her dating habits before she met the tomcat. Let's just say that it is a time honored way to keep a woman from leaving. Couple that with what ever transpired during those lost 6 weeks, and there would be a big problem if she was my kid.
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Mark 8:36, KJV
Stupid George.
2006 is an election year. Republicans are restless. They know who voted against Terri's life and they also know that Greer's a Republican. I'm glad there's a new impeachment drive and it's not coming from me. If they're okay w/Greer destroying the GOP, good for them.
If they're okay w/Greer destroying the GOP, good for them.
I'm so far out of the popular culture, I heard nothing of this and had I heard, would have cared nothing anyway. But a day or two ago, I did see some "Free Katie" and "Save Katie" hits on most-popular-search lists, and wondered what on earth that was about. I'm getting a picture here :-)
Of course not.
Keep in mind that Mother Nature is a bit quirky. The first pregnancy can take any length of time up to nine months. There have been very nervous cases where childbirth follows legitimacy by minutes.
Up to a point, yes, you are right. But if, as in the wild, we are a sure goner - being eaten by a tiger, say, our bodily processes suppress the fight, anesthetize our senses, and relax us into oblivion.
Bump
The RNC is eating itself alive. This is why people are looking towards a legitimate third party that represents their views. Greer, Mc Cain, et al, do not represent my views, nor do they constistute my idea of conservative Republicans.
Lol! No seriously, remember when having a child out of wedlock was something to be ashamed of? People would hide the pregnancy, even post date the birth to hide the fact.
I'm more concerned with the controlling nature of this relationship, and the timing of this pregnancy. We should maybe say prayers for Katie.

It is frequently said that truth is stranger than fiction. In the case of Michael Schiavo, husband of the now deceased Terri Schiavo, this is precisely correct.
You may recall that during the years that Terri Schiavo suffered from a debilitating condition, Michael worked very hard to acquire legal permission to kill his wife by denying her the basic human right of receiving food and water. He argued that she would not want to be fed through a tube. His view was that she actually died 12 years earlier, and that the person in the hospital bed was not truly alive. Once he succeeded in achieving his goal, and his wife died, it became clear that Schiavo had designs on attaining as much public support and sympathy as possible. In fact, one might say that in the wake of Terris death, Michael Schiavo was starving -- for attention.

a legitimate third party
Right on, TSO.
It should be conservative. The rats, the repubs and the conservatives. We know that most repubs are NOT conservative and, therein, lies the problem. Imagine, a conservative debating McCain? The (C) would make the (R) look like a (D).
Another great article from No. Country Gazette!
Stark contrast indeed between Judge Beauchesne and Judge Greer. Anyone give Judge Beauchesne an award? Or are awards given out in Florida only?
Yet Judge Greer, a hardworking judge committed to the rule of law, to the independence of the judiciary, and to the fundamentals of American democracy, received as a result of his efforts hate mail and death threats resulting in 24-hour security, had to move out of his home, and was asked to leave his church, all in the course of doing his job.
Oh dear! Perhaps his boss, taxpayers, DON'T agree that he was committed to the rule of law and hardworking for American democracy. Asked to leave his church? Why not, scientology and where Truth is spoken, for starters, thou shalt not kill, don't mix.
Folks really are awfully kind
To help get my story refined.
I can spend my days merry
Since I don't have to carry
The load of Mike's "plot" in my mind.
I just need to check on their postings
And follow their pathways of roastings
Of my "out of whack" thinking.
Yet my tale is not shrinking
Folks make it live on through their boastings.
Three others now carry the load
Each providing my tale an abode
This needn't alarm them
Those few words can't harm them
'Though the story's "too strange" to be told.
If we cling to bad feelings, we must necessarily skew our perception, degrade our decision-making,
That's why no great novels (like in the 19th Century) seem to be written anymore: truth is far stranger than fiction.
Remember too that 65 percent of voters who came to the polls in August 2004 endorsed the retention of the popular George W. Greer. I guess he is the "people's judge." That's the trouble in this tragedy: "the people."
Stark contrast indeed between Judge Beauchesne and Judge Greer. Anyone give Judge Beauchesne an award? Or are awards given out in Florida only?
I think you have to do something really heinous to get such rewards.
Painful reminder, here is a reprint from a March 31 article on a day we remember. From Agape Press:

A survey of 1,500 adults in November by LexisNexis, made available to Networking in advance of its release later today, indicates that the most talked about news stories of 2005 included Hurricane Katrina, with 97 percent of the vote; the temporary spike in gas prices, with 88 percent of the vote; the war in Iraq, with 83 percent of the vote; the tsunami in Asia with 62 percent of the vote; the terrorist attacks on London, with 36 percent of the vote; the U.S. Supreme Court nominations, with 35 percent of the vote; and the forced dehydration of comatose Terri Schiavo, 33 percent.

To write fiction these days, you can tell the truth and then strip it down so it will be readable fiction. Otherwise, it is too extreme to read.

For good reason, I don't see 'voting' as being purely the will of the people. Have we ever seen the 'controlling powers' that be get what 'they' want in spite of 'the people'. Those pesky chads come to mind. Run unopposed? Who would approve an investigation and for what? And 'they' know that. Didn't hear anyone have an problem 'reading' this time or being disinfranchise. Imo, voter fraud appears to be just a another way for the slime to continue 'doing business'.
This morning, I heard that Michael Schiavo was nominated by People Magazine as the top 10 People of the Year. I haven't been able to find a link to this report.
IMO, Dorky Derek paid People Magazine or maybe he's a shareholder in People. (lots of liberal democrats have holdings in media companies).
HINO is a top ten looooooser.
The fundamentals of a perfect crime. How to murder someone in five years or less.
"Yet Judge Greer, a hardworking judge committed to the rule of law"
fv says: This is not the rule of law. Judge Greed said, "The law of the case is that she will die." That is the rule of the CASE, not the rule of law. The case was a total SHAM, a SCAM. SCHIAVO-GATE

JUDGE GREER CHEATED IN 2004. But, the Judicial Qualifications Commission would hear nothing of it. If that ILLEGAL GREER TV COMMERCIAL IS STILL ON LINE, please post it here, bb. Thanks and Merry Christmas. There's still time for lurkers and media to see one way judges steal elections in Florida.
The lies written in Time Magazines meniton of Terri are maddening!!
Woe to those who call good evil and call evil good!!
I did a google search. LMAO! We aren't the only ones who think the whole thing is weird.
It's really not funny when you think about the root cause of the hilarity....Scientology.
No, Greer did have opposition from a very fine candidate, who was repudiated by the people of Pinellas and Pasco countiesl. I believe that the local people in both parties were strong cheerleaders for the "cause" of exterminating poor Terri.
That's a no brainer. The law states that someone convicted of murder, cannot profit off that murder. Scott Peterson is a disconnected sociopath, who still doesn't understand what he's done. Of course his lawyer could have filed, just so he could garnish the proceeds for payment of his fees.

Scientologists?
I learned how unfunny and personally destructive scientology was 30 years ago, from friends who got sucked in.
That's why it worries me to see virgin Katie get preggers. I had cherished some hope that Scientologists were sterile; but darned if they aren't able to reproduce! Perhaps we could control them by introducing swarms of sterile males into their breeding population. It works pretty well for controlling Mediterranean fruit flies.
I know people like him. In fact a few of you know who I'm talking about. They get away with something early on, and the more rules and laws they break, the more brazen they become. It's almost like they're pushing it because they, in some internal way, want to be caught.
Of course there is the narcissist/psychopath diagnosis. They are special, and god help you if you get in their way.
I don't think the popular MRS wants to be "caught." I think that he wants to push the envelope as far as possible and stuff it in the face of conservatives. Has he married "Ms. Centonze" yet, or have you heard? Remember, he is a REGISTERED REPUBLICAN but apparently has a "soft spot" for liberal Democrats.
Imagine if a conservative got out of the starting gate these days. There is hope, and there is Free Republic, among other websites. If we can get together and form a cohesive group of people, we could maybe get something done.
My lung function prohibits me from holding my breath...
I agree, it CAN be done now, a few years back no. I have that lung problem, also. ;)
Bump to #1133. Judge Greer needs to be impeached.
Look at this pack o'lies from the gainesville paper. Gainesville is the home of Shands Teaching Hospital. Many teaching hospitals are pushing euthanasia and living wills in addition to medical treatment. The slant of this paper is self evident.

Damn. At least some of my friends just got addicted to drugs. What's to say that Katie isn't still a virgin? Do you lose your virginity if you undergo invitro fertilization?
I like your plan about introducing sterile scientoloflies into the colonies, but maybe they aren't allowed to breed without permission, in the first place???
