Shows how a qualified nominee is easy to defend, unlike Miers.

Remember the "Thunder Runs" through Baghdad?
Miers was a "Thunder Run."

"Miers was a "Thunder Run.""
Let's hope so. As a conservative woman who has supported the conservative movement as Miers has ...I'm still ticked at the way she was portrayed as a washer woman by conservative pundits.
The next nominee had better be a woman. There are too many qualified women out there to justify anything else.

No, the next nominee had better be the most qualified man or woman out there.

There is only 1 person who is "most qualified".

A 600-page briefing book! Makes you wonder if they learned from the Miers debacle or if they planned it this way.

Maybe they took a page from Hillary's book in getting Janet Reno -- their third official choice but really their first choice for AG.

You truly believe in an affirmative action nominee?

I believe Janice Rogers Brown was the best pick for the Supreme Court, but not because she is a woman, because she is a great judge and she will not waver. Miers may be fine at her job, but that doesn't mean she was a good pick for the Supreme Court. I don't believe a Supreme Court nominee is the time to gamble.

I truly believe that a woman can be just as qualified as a man and we were replacing a woman.
Women are not a by product of affirmative action..they are a major part of American society.

Even worse, you want a quota system.
The outgoing nominee has no relevance to the incoming one. Oconner was an affirmative action nominee and was a disaster on the court.

You are stuck in the past..there are women conservatives that are tough smart and prolife and you overlook them. What a shame.

Not at all. I don't believe gender has any relevance to the discussion.
You're the one waving away nominees that don't have a vagina.

And what would the conservative movement do without all the "vaginas". If we took a poll I would guess that more than half of FreeRepublic has "vaginas", contrary to popular myth.
Not exactly a bad thing is it.

As a conservative woman who has supported the conservative movement as Miers has... We should get a true conservative woman with a conservative track record.

Nor is it a good thing.
I'm glad the President doesn't bow down to your NOW-like quota system and considers individuals of all aspects..

Since when does it take a quota system to nominate a woman? If you want to talk about quotas..lets talk about how there are more women then men in America.
Women are not subject to "quotas" like minorities. They are part of the mainstream.
Were have you been for the past 30 plus years?
