I bet they had this book ready, and threw it on the shelf when Andy Card whispered in Bush's ear about nominating Miers.
Good news is that it did not accumulate any dust with the rapid departure of Miers from the hot seat.
Couldn't agree more. Your point is well taken.
Only problem I have is when people talk about the O'Connor seat and that the replacement must be a woman. That is silly logic.
The other sad factor is the Senate confirmation process that has degenerated so much that it may have scared many woman from being considered. Don't know this to be a fact, but seems very plausible, and there have been stories in the press.
Well..you know ...it maybe "silly" logic but if the SC is only fit for men then there maybe a problem and I wouldn't want to be a male Republican who gets caught up in the old "quota" logic when there are strong conservatives like JRB or Judge Karen Williams that are turned down for a quota of men on the SC.
Saying a nominee MUST be a woman is a quota.
If Bush nominates a proper nominee, male or female, he has my support.
Saying that it must be a man to replace a woman is a quota...
I never said that.
Thank you. Then we are in agreement that the next nominee could possibly fairly represent America and possibly could be a woman since there are no doubt qualified women for the job that have been overlook this time around.
overlook = overlooked
My personal first choice was JRB. Several of my posts here reflect that. I, and most likely you too, don't have a clue as to why JRB was not chosen. Same with Judge Williams. One thing I am confident of is that they were not passed because of their female gender.
Senate confirmation process cannot be ignored when one talks about more conservative females as nominees. They will be subject to a different standard because women are supposed to be liberal according to our Dumbocrat party and the MSM/LSM.
Anyone who thinks that there is no qualified woman to replace O'Connon can only be one of the following: Stupid, dumb, idiotic, MCP, mentally unstable....etc...... :-)
We simply don't know the background process. I am 100% sure that Bush did not set out to pick a male only.
