"You think it should be ok to lie?"

It is legal for cops to lie to suspects and witnesses to further an investigation.

An officer that makes a false report of criminal conduct by a citizen is not only going to be prosecuted, but will also lose his job.

ROTFL! Yeah right.

"An officer that makes a false report of criminal conduct by a citizen is not only going to be prosecuted, but will also lose his job. The citizen who makes a false report of criminal conduct by a police officer (most acts of police misconduct, especially those directed at a particular person, constitute a civil rights violation as well as other criminal acts) has committed no crime, according to the 9th Circuit."

Okay I don't get it. Basically the correct decision should have fallen against anyone making a FALSE statement. The author seems to be lamenting the fact that a citizen can lie about a police officer but a police officer can't lie about a citizen. Just me but how about TRUTHFUL reports from either side?
