A federal lawsuit charges that Fox News has harassed and discriminated against its female employees and created a "hostile work environment because of their sex."
The lawsuit was filed in Manhattan's Federal District Court by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
The suit is based on an EEOC investigation of a claim brought by a former Fox employee, Kim Weiler.
"We investigated the allegations and charges that were made and found them to be baseless," Steven Mintz of the New York law firm Mintz & Gold told the New York Times.
The firm represented Fox News in the commission's investigation. "Fox News questions the motivations behind the charges," Mintz added.
The EEOC suit charged that a Fox vice president "routinely used gross obscenities and vulgarities when describing women or their body parts," language that it says the executive "did not use with male employees."
The suit also contends that the executive "routinely cursed at and otherwise denigrated women employees," telling them to "be a man," the Times reported.
The suit also alleges that Fox routinely assigned female employees to freelance work and less secure jobs.
It adds that Kim Weiler was "constructively discharged" as a result of the network's practices. The Times says that it was not clear whether she was fired. The lawsuit demands that Fox institute policies to correct what it calls the discrimination against women at the news network and asks for punitive damages.

Lack of job security is part of the business. They can fire you because they don't like the color of your eyes. No explaination needed.

Nonsense! If they have a good pair of legs in a short skirt there is no limit to how far they can go at Fox. They are the industry leader in knee-level cameras, glass tables (not ceilings), and anchor eye candy.
Except that women are a protected group under title 9. Only "whitey" can be fired for no reason...as long as he is under the age of 40.
Pretty news babes are a TV tradition on networks and local stations. Our local stations burn through them so fast I rarely recall their names after they are gone.
Only the ones who make the main desk with their name as one of the news team headliners have any staying power. That's the game and a player shouldn't complain when it happens to that player.

I did a quick search and she was a promotional and/or marketing director of some sort. I don't have any more information. I don't think she ever made it on air, if that's what your wondering.

Yes, that's the agreement most of us accept when we are employed. And that goes both ways. The employee can quit when they like as well, 'for no reason'.

I wasn't really complaining, although on an intellectual level it is frivolus to be featuring short skirts. I feel Kiran Chetry is about as fine as they get, but I don't see her get much write up. I would post her pic but I don't know how.
