The CIA Disinformation Campaign
The American Spectator ^ | November 8, 2005 | Jeb Babbin

Posted on 11/08/2005 7:23:07 PM PST by CreviceTool

The CIA's disinformation campaign against President Bush -- headlined in the Wilson/Plame affair -- is more jujitsu than karate. Instead of applying your own force to defeat your opponent, you turn his energy and momentum against him and bring him down. The CIA, as much or more than the State Department, didn't support President Bush's decision to invade Iraq. And to discredit that decision, it appears the CIA first chose an unspeakably unqualified political activist for a sham intelligence mission, structured it so that the results would be utterly public, and then -- when the activist resumed his publicity-hound activity -- demanded and achieved a high-profile criminal investigation into White House activities that resulted, so far, in the indictment of the Vice President's chief of staff. It's time for the Justice Department -- or, better yet, for the Senate Intelligence Committee -- to investigate the Wilson/Plame sham. Not only was the Wilson mission to Niger a sham, but the CIA's demand for an investigation of Robert Novak's outing of Valerie Plame may itself have been a criminal act.

Jeb Babbin is on fire in this article. Mr. Babbin could hardly contain himself on the John Batchelor show last night and I couldn't wait to read the whole thing.

Excellent questions that need to be answered and soon.

One question I have is what the time line looked like for the decision on requesting an inquiry by the DOJ. In the current matter of the Washington Post article about the supposed CIA prisoner holding sites in eastern Europe - it looks to me like the CIA acted quickly - once they could read in the papers that Hastert and Frist were going to get on this and call for joint Congressisonal hearings. Perhaps they got to it quickly in order to obstruct a possible Congressional inquiry, perhaps not. Comparing the two decision time lines should clear up my suspicions.

I wondered about this as well. My guess is that there are individuals out there who would prefer a 2-3 year investigation by an independent prosecuter ala'Fitzgerald rather than something a bit more expedited.

Bush needs to take the first three management levels of the CIA and State Department and involuntarily can them, like Reagan had the guts to do with the air traffic controllers. People will whine, "but you are putting the country at risk." Well lets see, you can't put the country and any more risk than 3,000 dead, two tallest buildings in the world disintergrated, and a host of other intel failures. These career chieftans have had their day, and now view themselves as untouchable. Wilson and their like are self-appointed poompas that don't really love the country, but only loves what they have sucked out of the country. Wilson and his wife on in that smug magazine cover said it all. Issue new directives on the nation's expectations on how our diplomatic and intel corps should act. That would send a clear message to the rest of the malcontents. How do kill a rogue snake? Cut off its head.

If the President suspects covert CIA leaks are targeted against him, all he has to do is cut their funding and give the money to homeland security.

Operatives have been out to get Bush since his victory in 2000. The dumbocrats have found a few allies in the CIA. Enough to spread their poison.

Yes, Jeb is great. BUT what do we have to do to light a fire under GWB? The MSM won't cover these stories unless it works within their playbook - you know Wilson = good/patriot, GWB, Cheney = bad/Hitler. GWB could make a presidential speech, covered by the MSM on TV and blast the Rats for hyping these LIES - why do we need to wait for yet another investigation? READ THE FACTS, READ THE SENATE VOTES, like all the bloggers have been writing for the past weeks. I am loosing patience with GWB and a lot of the Pubs in the Congress.

I agree with you. Take the non-policy maker workers and all the assets and put them over where their biggest customer of intel is - the DoD. Remember when you want action and results you call the Military like in Katrina. They will get it done everytime and they know where their loyalties lie (for the most part).

How about every concerned American printing off copies of Jeb's article, adding an appropriate handwritten note (such as "GET THIS DONE NOW!") addressed to members of the Senate Intelligence Committee, and then keep on them.

The "conservative crackdown" can't stop with the Miers nomination!

LOL............ that's funny.

Can't you see, Bush is already all fired up, ready to aggressively fight back.

In fact, he has told White House staffers to attend "ethics training briefings". He's really fighting back and fired up!

;-)

True, they were not included. I'm talking about those adminstration to administration, tight-rope walking, 60s throwback, near retirement, save the world, islam is peaceful lifers. Not the appointees that came with the Prez.

Great quote from the Gray Wolf. I wonder if we can assume that Jed Babbin was familiar with it.

Porter Goss must be making some folks at Langley very nervous. Typical behavior of wayward career bureaucrats.
