Fewer cars set ablaze in France
CNN ^ | November 10, 2005

Posted on 11/10/2005 1:37:06 AM PST by ncountylee

PARIS, France (CNN) -- Violence in France appeared to be on the decline as officials toughened their stance against rioters and threatened to deport any foreigners convicted of involvement.

Vehicle torchings continued overnight as the unrest stretched into a 14th night. But the number of arson attacks dropped again, with 482 vehicles burned compared with 617 the night before, The Associated Press reported.

The reduction "is an encouraging sign that does not, however, diminish the police effort," AP quoted national police spokesman Patrick Hamon as saying.

The number of vehicles destroyed has fallen each night since Sunday's high point of 1,400, Reuters said.

Vandals set several cars on fire in Toulouse, including one they pushed into a school courtyard. Firefighters put out the blazing car in the kindergarten courtyard and said no one was injured.

Is this the new BIG-MAC Index for the MSM?

400+ cars torched is still a massive problem, but hey...

I'm sure that's comforting to those 482 car owners who no longer have a set of wheels.

The "freedom fighters" (or "insurgents"??) are probably running out of cars to torch.

I'm borrowing a little MSM moral equivalence here

That was my first thought - the easy supply of available cars is diminishing, so the number is down. It is a really strange situation that shows the rioters to be unworthy of respect. But then, I suspect that French schools teach that "Property is Theft" rather than "The Law".

Because there are no marshmallows in france. I think Sharia law outlaws them or something. ; )

Personally, I think there are less car burnings because they are running out of cars.

Really, who can consider 400+ car burnings in one night "a good thing"?!?

At the present rate the car burnings are declining there should be no fires around the same time there are no cars left in the 'suburbs'.

It makes perfect sense.

Gas went from 1.39/gallon to 3.50 a gallon in a year.

When it dropped to 2.50/gallon, it was great news for everybody.

20% less terrorism, burnings, beheadings, etc. is great news -- like a slight decrease in the rate of increase in taxes is great news.

Interesting reporting.

Does anyone see the difference between how this is reported, and how Iraq and Afghanistan are reported, or is it just me?

So what is happening in France?
Crazies run around at night setting fire to others vehicles?
Here in my neighborhood if you show up to set afire someones car they most assuredly will shoot you. So would I.
Why not in France?
Is it just that they are happy to be rid of their crappy Citreons and Peugeots?

We are winning, says the Enemedia, winning I tell ya, see this just proves being nice to barbarians can reduce the number of cars, schools, public buildings torched nightly. And we will tell you this every night until there is nothing left in France but cinders.

WOW! “Only" 483 vehicles torched!

Received this morning in Email:
President Bush has authorized the Joint Chiefs to begin drawing up a battle plan to pull France's ass out of the fire again. Facing an apparent overwhelming force of up to 400 pissed off teenagers, Mr. Bush doubts France's ability to hold off the little pissants. "Hell, if the last two world wars are any indication, I would expect France to surrender any day now", said Bush. Joint Chiefs head, Gen. Peter Pace, warned the President that it might be necessary to send up to 5 Marines to get things under control. The general admitted that 5 Marines may be overkill but he wanted to get this thing under control within 24 hours of arriving on scene. He stated he was having a hard time finding even one Marine to help those ungrateful bastards out for a third time but thought that he could persuade a few women Marines to do the job before they went on pregnancy leave.
President Bush asked Gen. Pace to get our Marines out of there as soon as possible after order was restored. He also reminded Gen. Pace to make sure the Marines did not take soap, razors, or deodorant with them. The less they stand out the better.

Measuring the number of cars burned to determine success? LMAO. Are reporters liberal, stupid, and lazy too?

Anyway, perhaps this ding dong might consider that they are running out of good cars to burn. Who wants to burn an opal?

Maybe the French gov't should purchase some more cars so the "youths" will continue to have something to do. Otherwise they may start to get violent as cars become harder to find.

France has an ulterior motive for its non-assimilation policy. The average American generally welcomes new neighbors, genuinely want to lend some help to the elderly & disabled, and there's a very strong "root for the underdog" attitude. If someone wished to assimilate, they would be receiving a lot of help. OTOH, from what I've heard, the French are racist snobs. They just shuffle immigrants into public housing & pay them hush money (welfare) and hope to never see them again.

If I were 18 and rioting, I suspect I'd get a little bored with burning cars after 13 or 14 days. The whole thing must be getting a little old for them by now. I think this is just boredom setting in (along with the afore mentioned lack of available unburned cars).

If people think militant Hispanic illegal aliens aren't taking notes about the Paris Muslim uprisings, they're crazy. It's a primer for taking over the Southwest US and establishing Aztlan.

I imagine it's a bit like an airplane owner and knowledge of a hurricane likely going to here the airplane is tied-down. If there's any way to get that plane out of the path of the hurricane, the owner will attempt it.

If from one hurricane to the next, the number of destroyed airplanes is down, one should infer a factor of owners trying to get their prized possessions out of the way before one infers that the latter hurricane was less severe.

According to the media it is just youth havein fun. No harm done.

Have you ever heard the saying, "Boys will be boys?"

I believe that I read where they set one person, maybe more on fire also. Also, they cracked a couple of people on the coconut. I don't think that they made it. But again, according to the media, nothing malicious, just youth enjoying themselves.

And on the bright side, none of them are either bringing a Bible to school. or reading a Bible in class.

May 17, 1940: The French High Command reported today that the German army's westward progression was slowing. While they gained 61.7 kilometers the previous day, yesterday, its advance was only 48.2 kilometers as the French army took a tough stance against the Wehrmacht, and threatened to take serious action if they continued its advance, including the possibility of attempting to push them out of France.
