1 Dead In Waterfront Movie Shooting
WEST HOMESTEAD, Pa. -- Gunfire in the Loews Waterfront movie theater killed a man Wednesday night, West Homestead police said.
The victim, identified as Shelton Flowers, 30, of Wilkinsburg, was hit in the thigh and chest. He died later at UPMC Presbyterian.
Employees at the concession stand reported hearing the shots, police said. Soon after that, Flowers was found near some video game machines.
Two men were seen running out of the main entrance after the shooting, witnesses told police. Another man left through the rear doors.
Police said nobody has come forward to identify a shooter, even though the building was busier than a usual weeknight, with the 50 Cent movie, "Get Rich Or Die Tryin'" debuting on two screens.
Flower's aunt told Channel 4 Action News reporter Marcie Cipriani that her nephew went to the theater to see the 50 Cent movie.
The West Homestead police chief told Channel 4 Action News that the department put an officer on duty at the theater -- which is unusual for a weeknight -- due to the showing of the movie.
The chief said the officer did hear the shots, and right after, the victim crossed the officer's path and collapsed.
Allegheny County homicide detectives are now handling the case. They have not commented yet.

Guess this poor guy didn't get rich.
Isn't 50 Cent the rapper who chastised his peers about their negative comments towards Bush and the war effort?
This has destroyed my faith in the Hip Hop community.
Yes, he disagreed with the racist Kanye West.
At the Waterfront?
Sheesh. I've been there a number of times, it did not seem like the sort of place for a shooting to occur.
Will a lawyer come forward and sue Fiddy Cent for causing this man's death? He's got deep pockets. I expect a press conference from Je$$e Jackson, soon. /sarc
Could have just as easily happened during a showing of 'Jarhead' or 'Chicken Little'.
There was a really nice theater in my neighborhood. For several years you could go and see a movie in peace in a nice facility with your family. Then they started screening films like Eight Mile, Gridlock'd, and Never Die Alone.
Now it's bathrooms unfit for Christian butt cheeks, cell phones going off (and the subsequent conversations), people yelling at eachother ("That's MY NACHOS!"), and bullets rolling under your feet 'cause someone dropped they's gun.
(If what I just wrote makes you sad or angry,
What! Only one person shot? This has to be a typo.
Either that or the shooters were poor shots.
When you cater to the lowest common denominator in people, you will inevitably go bankrupt. Every single club that i have known that catered to the Hip Hop, Gangsta image was either shut down as a result of violence or went bankrupt givwen that no one would buy a drink or pay a cover.
Get popcorn or die trying....
(thanks for the heads-up, rightwingintelligentsia!)
The Waterfront Loew's is a great place but it's only a few blocks from the hood!
Not one damn dime for a Fifty Cent movie!
too bad that POS didn't die tryin... maybe this guy would still be alive.
Hmm, that would be why we always went in from Squirrel Hill, then... a bit of a longer drive than otherwise.
I thought he was an extra in the filming of a 50cents movie when I saw the headline. Just assumed they had one more extra than was needed.
LOL! Who didn't see this coming?
I've never been there to see a flick, I prefer the Destinta 22 Theater in North Versailles.
I used to live 2 minutes from there, nice place to shop that Waterfront.
Have you ever been in the townhouse community there? I got to go on an open house...spectacular. Riverviews, upscale construction...so close to the city. Great to see that kind of development in the Burgh.
