Only half see press as fair to Bush

By Jennifer Harper
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
Published November 10, 2005

About 50 percent of Americans say the Bush administration is being treated fairly by the press, the lowest number since President Bush was elected, and an increasing percentage say the press is too critical of the president, according to the Pew Research Center.

"There has been a notable rise over the past two years in the percentage who say the press is too critical of the Bush administration," the survey released Tuesday stated.

Many stories that appear to methodically build a case against Mr. Bush might not resonate with readers and viewers.

"Iraq, Katrina, CIA leak, Harriet Miers. Things couldn't get any worse for Bush. But they just did," noted the Associated Press yesterday in an account of the Virginia governor's race, won by Democrat Timothy M. Kaine.

"Dark days: Singed by the special prosecutor and rattled by the Harriet Miers mess, Team Bush is in turmoil," Newsweek stated this week.

Only 34 percent of the respondents in the Pew survey deemed White House press coverage "about right," down from 48 percent in a similar survey taken in 2003.

Among Republican respondents, 25 percent said the press is fair to Mr. Bush, down from 50 percent two years ago. Democrats have noticed press vitriol to a point -- 68 percent think the president is getting a fair shake -- down from 71 percent.

Although the public may be increasingly leery of White House coverage, Americans still prefer their press in a watchdog role.

Here's the source. I'm surprised PEW published these numbers, because the left and its running dog MSM can't take much comfort with those numbers.

Poll should have included 2004 when all stops were pulled out and the media tried lying 24-7.

"Bush's Draft" every 20 minutes on MTV
"Bush's National Guard Memos" on 60 Minutes and in AP for 2 weeks

And the LACK of coverage of DNC brownshirts torching campaign signs, throwing bricks through windows, painting swastikas on Republican homes, slashing tires on election day and cutting power to GOP offices on election day.

NOT to mention Zogby's Bullguano poll numbers on election day.

What gets my blood boiling are those "sunshine Conservatives" that can`t wait to turn on our President with no thought of how the enemies of this country will use that.
Of course, the Rats will use it to beat us every chance they can.
The big drop GWB had in the polls happened w/Miers. Gee thanks folks, remember that when Hillary raises you taxes and when we run from Iraq

Joseph Goebbels employed propaganda methods far ahead of his time to enable Hitler and the Nazi party to seduce their way to absolute power. DNC = Nazi Party

These numbers won't dissuade the MSM to trash this president, this country, the good folks who live in it and the armed forces the world over protecting her.

About 50%...

This phrase guarantees that the real results were more than 50%, IMO.

Yet tomorrow another MSM poll about the president or conservatives will fall from the window OF CBS, NBC, CNN, and the other usual suspects and everyone will panic about how bad these skewed poll numbers are and what they mean.

Sheep.

25% of "Republicans" believe the press is fair as it attacks Bush with every lie, low blow, distortion and outright flimflam imaginable.

The majority of Americans can't recognize this campaign of Treason for what it is and that is good news?

Those are the 25% of Republicans who believe the press is "fair" to the president. Or the 12% which doesn't know.

Who knows what's the sampling bias of the PEW Foundation? Didn't they get funded by Soros and the Tides Foundation, while they pushed for campaign finance reform, gun control, etc., IIRC.

Considering that mistakes were made, I think the title is cause for optimism since the left and MSM HAVE BEEN RELENTLESS!

You are welcome to your optimism but I don't share much of it since I believe half of the Americans would believe just about any goofy story the press puts out.

The last election essentially gave us the same information, almost 50% of those voting were as deluded and/or ignorant as one can be and still be able to pull a voting lever.
