Bush Should Run for a Fourth Term
November 11, 2005

Posted on 11/11/2005 7:00:22 AM PST by new yorker 77

President Bush has run for President three times. In 2000 he ran for President. He won. In 2002, he bet his Presidency on a GOP return to control of the Senate. He won. In 2004, he fought his critics and he won again.

Liberals are making a huge mistake if they think President Bush will be the death of the GOP in 2006.

In 1999, 2001, 2003 and 2005 many conservatives pondered at the weak response from the Bush team.

We were angered at the inability of the Bush team to get their act together and fight their critics head on.

But in 2000, 2002, and 2004 as election season began, the Bush Team slowly destroyed their competition.

Democrats may be laughing at President Bush now, but in 2006 he will have them looking up at him again.

"Liberals are making a huge mistake if they think President Bush will be the death of the GOP in 2006."

No. What will be the death of the GOP in '06 will be if they don't learn to start cutting spending and taxes - along with all the other stuff they were put into office to do.

The GOP House and Senate members are hurting themselves plenty without any help from the President.

Considering the DUmbass leftist neo-hippies say that he didn't really win in 2000 or 04, then do we have a claim that President Bush was never 'elected' for his two terms and through a legal technicality can run again? Now that would really piss off some people..

President Bush

Pretty accurate. Bush has been running for President since 2000 because he has had two wars to fight, the one in Iraq and the one in the US.

What was the feeling of Republicans in 2001?

The new tone moderation made us all cringe.

As a conservative, it helps to look back to learn how to move forward.

We were here in 2001.

Replay the 2002 model and win.

By running, he sets the agenda.

He did this in 2002 after a miserable 2001 for the GOP.

Conservatives do not cower and whine and give up.

We consolidate and win.

If President Bush did not correct the pattern of GOP House members and a GOP Senate in 2001 going into 2002, he would have lost a bid at getting back the Senate and may have lost the House.

How would he have done on tax cuts, judges, and the war if he had to work with Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, and House Majority Leader Pelosi.

Without tax cuts, jobs would have been nonexistent. He would have been given his father's label and would have lost in 2004.

Bush won re-election in 2004 by winning in 2002.

He can solidify his final three years by winning in 2006.

"Conservatives do not cower and whine and give up"

No. They pull budget cutting bills because members of their own party were (ready for this?) upset about the proposed drilling in ANWAR, tax cuts, Medicare cuts, and cuts in social programs!

This is your GOP today. And if I were you, I wouldn't be so confident. If this keeps up, and I see no reason it shouldn't, my votes are going strictly to the Libertarians next year. Why should I waste my vote on Democrats in Republican clothing?

You are ignorant to history.

GOP moderates pulled this kind of garbage in 2001.

It wasn't until the Bush White House reigned in all Republicans to a common agenda for 2002 that we turned it around.

You should not be a reactionary liberal.

You should be a focused conservative.

Contact the RNC, the White House, and GOP leaders. They will put pressure on these moderates.

2005 feels and smells like 2001,. Even the elections in Virginia and New Jersey are the same.

Focused Conservatives are better than Fretting Conservatives.

Step #1: White House must re-set the agenda.

Step #2: Who's out of line?

Step #3: Get them in line.

Step #4: Get the agenda passed.

This is 2001 going into 2002 all over again.

First of all, if you're speaking in haiku... horrible job.

Secondly, I don't see Bush reigning in anything.

Finally, anyone who calls me a liberal better be ready to meet for pistols at dawn. I'm far from liberal. I'm just not a sheep. I hold people accountable for their actions. And instead of acting like a happy-go-lucky cheerleader, you should be concerned and critical of your party for not living up to its principles.

Personally - I REALLY hope you're right! I hope the Reps kick the crap out of the Dems in '06. All I'm saying is I don't see it happening. Not the way the Reps are betraying their principles.

And when G. Bush goes on national TV and says that the poor people in New Orleans are poor because of racism and promises LA $200 billion - holy crap! Are you telling me that Bush is going to be the one to lead by example? That might as well have been Kerry speaking. So don't tell me Bush is "reigning in the moderates." He's acting like one.

In 199 he was labeled a do nothing, frat party, coke snorting, papa's boy, who never accomplished anything in his life versus the Great American Hero John McCain.

The Bush Team stumbled and in 2000 they destroyed.

You sound like a reactionary liberal.

Stop whining.

Focus.

You are an asset of the left when you whine.

If Bush goes down, you hand power to leftists.

Reagan would cringe.

Moderates always make a stink in off-years.

Then conservatives push back.

Let's not have selective amnesia when it comes to tax cuts, judges, and the war.

Hillary Clinton is begging for whimps.

I'm looking for warriors and I see a White House gearing up to finally fight back.

They have done it before. They will do it again.

As a conservative, I refuse to be an asset of the left by whining about Bush.

Coarse correction is what I'm looking for. I will not stab myself in the process.

"Reagan would cringe."

Reagan would have never blamed the predicament of the poor in LA on racism, nor would he have promised them $200 billion.

Reagan is a leader. Bush is a reactionary.

"I'm looking for warriors and I see a White House gearing up to finally fight back."

Where? I'll believe it when I see it.

"Stop whining."

Where have I been whining? Don't post an opinion if you can't handle critical dissent.

"If Bush goes down, you hand power to leftists."

The GOP in power is acting like leftists. Open your eyes.

"As a conservative, I refuse to be an asset of the left by whining about Bush."

But you can't ignore that he's refusing to fight.

He pushed Meiers at us until we let him know that we weren't gonna take it.

He refuses to act on border security.

He's not been active in pushing for ANWR drilling.

He's been quiet about social security reform.

I love the man, but he fell into the same pattern that his father used.

Very sad.

By the way, telling the truth hardly qualifies as whining.

We did act.

It's his turn to act. What is so difficult about that?

What's wrong with holding him accountable for the agenda he ran on?

Once again, I find it lame that you use the term "whiner" just because I disagree with you.

How lame.

ACTION moved the President and the GOP.

ACTION means phone calls, letters, calling talk shows, motivating family, telling liberals the election is on Wednesday, all of the above.
