Remind them that it is better to drill in ANWR than to freeze in the dark!

Not according to the environmentalists. If you listen to them, they will not be satisfied until we all live in one-room mudhuts or caves with homemade candles, walking shoeless anywhere we need to go. If given their way, the peons will live in worse conditions than the original settlers did while they continue to live in their present first-world conditions behind gated walls while preaching to us about our greed and waste. Worst of all, we are allowing them to poison our children's minds with their nonsense, dumb them down with propaganda, and shape them into willing recipients of their foreordained future.

My letter to my Congressman:
Congressman Frelinghuysen:

I see your name in the WSJ as a Republican who is against development of the "ANWR" energy fields.

Can this really be?

Would it be better to drill in Bedminster, or are you against any drilling in any territory under control of the United States?

"ANWR" is nothing more than what we called the tundra when we were growing up. Here's what Merriam-Webster says of tundra:

a level or rolling treeless plain that is characteristic of arctic and subarctic regions, consists of black mucky soil with a permanently frozen subsoil, and has a dominant vegetation of mosses, lichens, herbs, and dwarf shrubs; also : a similar region confined to mountainous areas above timberline
Could there possibly be a place that would be better to exploit for oil and gas?

Republicans don't have control of the house or senate.

Oh yes, they do! Conservatives make up about 20 - 25 House members and less than a handful of Senators. You are confusing Republicans with conservatives.

"... environmentalists ... will not be satisfied until we all live in one-room mudhuts or caves with homemade candles ..."

So true! The enviros hypocrits would not exist today without gasoline, lots of electricity and the internet. What they really want is for the USA to not exist. I recommend we deport them to a country with excess mud huts - so they can be truly fulfilled!

There are rino's, republicans, and conservatives.

We don't even have a republican control of the house or senate.

There are 40 members of the house that are involved in main street partnership policy. They are democrats.

Yesterday, I posted a favorable comment about our representative, Mark Kirk. Today, I see his name as one of the back-stabbers. I don't like being used and he's going to hear about it!

Well considering heating oil is project[ed] to be 40% more in price than last winter, I would expect drill[ing for] oil in ANWR to be back on the table before this spring.

No, the oil executives will be back on the carpet...

You are exactly right. As a matter of fact, caribou herds on the North Slope have grown exponentially since Prudhoe began drilling. I have personally seen Caribou and their young offspring shelter under the pipeline in heavy snows. I e-mailed my congressman, who is typically a true conservative, who voted against this and told him he very well may have lost my vote next year.

It all starts from the head down. When you see a president that ousts a Tancredo or a Gary Bauer from the WH but allows the Klintoons to get away with crimes & Teddy K gets to bill us for an addition 13 BILLION in a corrupted education bill, putting Frist in as Majority leader, Elton John & his lover allowed to sleep at the WH, Bono & his aids money which will make things even worse & todays speech another milk toast (CYA)...... These RINOs have nothing to fear from this president. A go along- get along politician. Actions have consequences GW wants said. Sitting in the back of the bus & allowing his agenda to be trashed is just what Shumer & his ilks want. Again he allowed it - allowed these socialists/commies to push his poll #s to unprecedented lows. The blame goes to GW.

Agreed - GW has not been leading, and the actions you list are certainly deplorable.

But conservatives have the ability to get Congress & GW to do the right thing ... hence my frequent posts on the ANWR topic.

We should have a "Woodshed Week" next week and rake these traitors over the coals until they see the light. President Bush should name them publicly, and blame them for keeping America dependent on Middle-Eastern and Venezuelan oil. Republican leaders should call them out for worrying about their re-election more than national security. This absurdity of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory has to stop.

Here are the above names formatted a little better:

Republicans Against ANWR ...
N.H. - Charles Bass (the ring leader), Jeb Bradley
Conn - Nancy Johnson, Christopher Shays, Robert Simmons
Del. - Mike Castle
Iowa - Jim Leach
Ill. - Tim Johnson, Mark Kirk
Penn - Mike Fitzpartick, Jim Gerlach
Minn - Mark Kennedy, Jim Ramstad
Mich - Vernon Ehlers
Mont - Wayne Gilchrest
N.J. - Mike Ferguson, Rod Frelinghuysen, Frank LoBiondo, Jim Saxton
N.Y. - Sherwood Boehlert, Sue Kelly, James Walsh
S.C. - Bob Inglis
Wash - Dave Reichert
Wisc - James Sensenbrenner

My 2 cents....

Congressman Bass,

I cannot believe there are idiots in Congress trying to stop the reaping of $1 trillion worth of oil
in a small piece of frozen tundra. This development contains over 15 billion barrels
of oil potentially, and at current prices that is $1 trillion worth of oil.

Yet you are stamping your feet and stopping a needed budget reconcilation over stopping
a very good idea like letting us explore for oil in a tiny portion of ANWR. WHY?

I am sure you know that we are talking about environmentally responsible drilling that
will impact only a few thousand acres - meaning millions of dollars of resources per
acre of frozen tundra impacted.

I also notice that Congress is now blaming oil executives for high oil prices. Phooey,
YOU are to blame!

I think you need to testify and answe as to why you want to kill American jobs, hurt
our trade deficit further, send more money to bad regimes like Iran, and drive oil prices
higher. YOU are responsible for these bad things and nobody else, through your
irresponsible behavior that stifles oil development.

Please, stop listening to eco-extremists and stop being an idiot! Back down and support
ANWR development!
