Katie Couric's Sympathy For The Perverts (my title)
WFLA ^ | 11-11-2005 | Pat Campbell

Posted on 11/11/2005 10:02:40 AM PST by subterfuge

Hour 2: Chris Hansen did this excellent expose on Dateline NBC last week. In the piece they posed as young boys on the internet and lured sexual predators to a home. Once the men entered the home they confronted them. Besides the rabbi, there was a doctor, a special education teacher, an army man, a defense contractor, a medical student… the list goes on. Not one of these men, if you saw him on the street would stand out in a crowd. This piece was a scary view into the world of internet predators. What is your major malfunction guys!

The above is at the WFLA web page listed above. I heard Mr. Campbell's broadcast this morning and he played a clip of Katie Couric interviewing the man who hosted the DATELINE NBC piece that recently aired.

If you didn't see this show, here is a synopsis:

Dateline's producers set up in a nice, residential neighborhood and proceeded to lure men to this location and they got it all on film. One guy was instructed to show up to the house under the guise of meeting with a 13 or 14 year old boy, and he was to enter the house NAKED and carrying a 12 pack of beer, which HE DID! They caught the very same guy a day or two later after they told him to go to a McDonald's restaurant!

But here is the part that justifies my title: When perky Katie interviewed the producer of the show her concern was for the PERPS! As near as I can remember them her words were "I get almost sick to my stomach wondering how these men could have gotten themsleves in this situation."

Katie wanted to know if the network were going to turn the men in and that if so "what kind of punishment would they get?"

Maybe there was more that I didn't hear but on the WFLA clip, she showed no concern for the ease with which these men were lured in and that there were so many of them. A normal person would be chilled at that, but alas, the perky one was concerned for the poor men who had put themselves in a terrible situation.

As an aside, no one on the radio show or the TV show (reportedly) mentioned anything regarding the link between homosexualtiy and pedophelia.

I saw this and the one common denominator, besides their 'Normal' looking outward appearances, was the meek, apologetic demeanor they assumed when faced with exposure. This is to be contrasted with the aggressive, domineering posture they would no doubt have expressed towards the objects of their perversions.

There is nothing about these animals that warrants any sympathy IMHO.

I saw that dateline repeated on Scarborough yesterday. I recommend any who have missed it to seek it out on msnbc.com (go to dateline)--

But be prepared to have your stomach turned. These guys look just like the guys you know...I guess I can understand a lot of sin-- but I'm just clueless about men like this--what is the deal with men and kids?

You are right. You shouldn't be suprised.

When the guy that walked in the front door, completely naked and carrying the beer, the look on his face was priceless as the cameras were rolling and an entire production crew looking on.

He scrambled to get his clothes on and get the heck out of there (but he never let go of that beer).

Do search on this site and there are plenty of posts concerning adult women molesting young boys. It is not a gender issue, but a society issue.

I would get a much higher TV ratings with a live broadcast of an old-time punishment traditionally meted out to sexual offenders, namely a tree stump.
A decent size tree stump (1.5-2' diameter, of sound wood) was split [incompletely] lengthwise along its center with a wedge. The perp was made to sit on the split stump with his appendages in the slot, and then the wedge was pulled out. The perp was left to rot in the stump; the punishment was normally carried out in full public view among general rejoicing.
Just to think of what one could get from TV rights, chair rentals and concession stands on such an occasion! And for the benefit of environmentalists, the stump could be made reusable.

I believe that technology (computers/Internet) has shone the light on how perverted so many in our society are. Ironically it is the technological innovation that has allowed them such easy access to our children.

This was a truly scary show....amazing how many guys showed up at this house. So important for the parents to have some control over their computers. I would also recommend putting an initial password on the computer before you can even get it running so the kids cannot get onto the computer when you aren't home. Because you won't be home all the time and even if it is in the den or living room you won't always be there to monitor. That way with the startup password the kids won't be able to chat without being in view. It also talked about how guys take photos of their private parts and post them.

Sorry--when women bugger minors it's big, big news and makes the headlines. Man bites dog.

These men barely made dateline--dog bites man. I don't think it's something universal. It's men who go for porn, although I'm sure you'll find the occasional woman.

The sexes are not the same.

Pedophelia is not exclusively a male dominated sickness and I'm no expert, but the ease with which these men were lured in was astounding. And it was a steady stream who showed no fear of being caught. When the camera crew caught the naked guy for the second time they asked him why he did it and he said simply that he "didn't know."

Yet, amazingly, if you flash your breasts, or "streak", you get put on the sexual offender list. Not that I condone these actions of course.

re: Pedophelia is not exclusively a male dominated sickness)))

I dunno--I'd sure like to think that it was not.

Conduct your own experiment, it's easy and harmless enough. Next time you're waiting in a public place and watching the folks walk by on the street, at the mall--

Check out the guys checking out the gals. You'll find perfectly normal, average guys checking out girls twelve--thirteen...if you asked them why they do it..."I dunno."

Maybe it's hardwired? Maybe it's just a part of nature to rise above, just to avoid jail.

Just for the record, this operation was not about pedophilia. A boy old enough to have reached puberty is bait for homosexuals. These guys they caught were queers, NOT child molesters.

As the father of a 16 yo girl, I know of what you speak. Over the years, when she is with me I've not noticed it so much, but when she is with my wife the "men" don't even try to hide the fact that they are ogling a child.

The thing is, so many men do not realize the prison of lust they are in, imo.

Here's an idea for an HBO movie - or a network movie of the week:

A group of citizens lures child rapist to a deserted house, where the pervert is murdered. The crime is easy because the perv makes a point of not letting anyone know where he's going when he's planning on meeting a child.

At the end of the movie the feeling that the group is going to get caught is heightened by the police chief approaching the house used for murder. But the surprise ending is that three judges and the police chief, are running the scam killing the child molesters. And absolutely no one is going to catch them. Ever. The last scene is a perv on the computer setting a time to meet a 9 year old...

I've got to go now, but the saddest thing to me is that Katie and her brethren in the media get away with voicing the sentiments that they do.

Where is the outcry, the outrage by her contemporaries? A mere 20 years ago she would have been justifiably fired. Today, barely a wimper from the MSM, as a small time radio personality and a few FReepers voice there displeasure. Its depressing.

The sexes are not the same.

Thank the Good Lord for that! I am not trying to minimize the abhorrent behavior of some of my gender, just a little sensitive to the 'it's always a man at fault' thing. The acts of the molester is that of a coward, cowards are afraid of punishment. If punishment is swift and terrible the coward will consider his own hide and maybe refrain from the act.

As I have said before, the only time repeat should be associated with a sexual predator is when referring to the second jolt they get when they ride 'ole sparky'.

I heard the audio from the show yesterday on Glen Beck. My jaw dropped when Katie did her poor, pitiful perverts number.

She and the rest of the party of pathetic perverts are just wacko. There is no other way to describe their sympathy for the perverted nut jobs and NONE for their underage victims.

You might want to take a look at the stats. Based on population, far more men than women molest, and homosexual molestation is much higher as a percentage than the percentage of homosexuals in the general population.

Didn't say that there was more women than men that were molesters, as if that is not common knowledge. Responded, not to you, concerning a statement that said 'what is wrong with you men'. Perhaps you could share you statistics with that poster. It obviously points out that there is, even if only statistically, women molesters.

As far as the homos being the majority of molesters, who cares. All men, women, and homo molesters should be treated the same. Harshly!

one problem i see with the latest view on sexual preditors is that lately the law seems to lump them all into the same catagory. the man who is foolish enough to trust a false statement of age by a 16 year old girl about her age is cast into the same light as a sicko who rapes little boys and girls over and over again. there must be some kind of common sense way to approach this.

This shouldn't come as much of a surprise.

The whole looney left has been saying for years that sex crimes are not really crimes. Is it any wonder that the prevalence of this type of activity has gone through the roof. Now, I'm sure lust for children and teenagers has been going on for a long time, but it was taboo. Now, anything goes as long as it's consensual.
