Hour 2: Chris Hansen did this excellent expose on Dateline NBC last week. In the piece they posed as young boys on the internet and lured sexual predators to a home. Once the men entered the home they confronted them. Besides the rabbi, there was a doctor, a special education teacher, an army man, a defense contractor, a medical student… the list goes on. Not one of these men, if you saw him on the street would stand out in a crowd. This piece was a scary view into the world of internet predators. What is your major malfunction guys!
If you didn't see this show, here is a synopsis:
Dateline's producers set up in a nice, residential neighborhood and proceeded to lure men to this location and they got it all on film. One guy was instructed to show up to the house under the guise of meeting with a 13 or 14 year old boy, and he was to enter the house NAKED and carrying a 12 pack of beer, which HE DID! They caught the very same guy a day or two later after they told him to go to a McDonald's restaurant!
But here is the part that justifies my title: When perky Katie interviewed the producer of the show her concern was for the PERPS! As near as I can remember them her words were "I get almost sick to my stomach wondering how these men could have gotten themsleves in this situation."
Katie wanted to know if the network were going to turn the men in and that if so "what kind of punishment would they get?"
Maybe there was more that I didn't hear but on the WFLA clip, she showed no concern for the ease with which these men were lured in and that there were so many of them. A normal person would be chilled at that, but alas, the perky one was concerned for the poor men who had put themselves in a terrible situation.
As an aside, no one on the radio show or the TV show (reportedly) mentioned anything regarding the link between homosexualtiy and pedophelia.

There is nothing about these animals that warrants any sympathy IMHO.
But be prepared to have your stomach turned. These guys look just like the guys you know...I guess I can understand a lot of sin-- but I'm just clueless about men like this--what is the deal with men and kids?
You are right. You shouldn't be suprised.
When the guy that walked in the front door, completely naked and carrying the beer, the look on his face was priceless as the cameras were rolling and an entire production crew looking on.
He scrambled to get his clothes on and get the heck out of there (but he never let go of that beer).
Do search on this site and there are plenty of posts concerning adult women molesting young boys. It is not a gender issue, but a society issue.
I believe that technology (computers/Internet) has shone the light on how perverted so many in our society are. Ironically it is the technological innovation that has allowed them such easy access to our children.
This was a truly scary show....amazing how many guys showed up at this house. So important for the parents to have some control over their computers. I would also recommend putting an initial password on the computer before you can even get it running so the kids cannot get onto the computer when you aren't home. Because you won't be home all the time and even if it is in the den or living room you won't always be there to monitor. That way with the startup password the kids won't be able to chat without being in view. It also talked about how guys take photos of their private parts and post them.
These men barely made dateline--dog bites man. I don't think it's something universal. It's men who go for porn, although I'm sure you'll find the occasional woman.
The sexes are not the same.
Pedophelia is not exclusively a male dominated sickness and I'm no expert, but the ease with which these men were lured in was astounding. And it was a steady stream who showed no fear of being caught. When the camera crew caught the naked guy for the second time they asked him why he did it and he said simply that he "didn't know."
From the Hannity last night: only 38 out of 800 perps were convicted. The media talks about punishing these perps, but it apparently happening.
This is what you get when your culture embraces moral relativism for a few decades.
Yet, amazingly, if you flash your breasts, or "streak", you get put on the sexual offender list. Not that I condone these actions of course.
I dunno--I'd sure like to think that it was not.
Conduct your own experiment, it's easy and harmless enough. Next time you're waiting in a public place and watching the folks walk by on the street, at the mall--
Check out the guys checking out the gals. You'll find perfectly normal, average guys checking out girls twelve--thirteen...if you asked them why they do it..."I dunno."
Maybe it's hardwired? Maybe it's just a part of nature to rise above, just to avoid jail.

Just for the record, this operation was not about pedophilia. A boy old enough to have reached puberty is bait for homosexuals. These guys they caught were queers, NOT child molesters.
I think there were "straight" (after teen girls) guys on the show, too.
