Bill O'Reilly takes aim at San Francisco
MSNBC ^ | November 11, 2005

Does Bill O'Reilly have it in for the city by the bay?

San Franciscans have been in an uproar this week over apparent comments by the host of Fox News' "The O'Reilly Factor" that it was A-OK for terrorists to wipe the city off the map.

At issue are comments from O'Reilly's Election Day broadcast on his syndicated Westwood One radio show about a San Francisco ballot measure opposing the presence of military recruiters in city schools.

I soured on O'Reilly a while ago but he's been throwing some pretty good shots lately at the looney left. This one in particular I agree with 100%. If San Fran is attacked tomorrow I think we should all just look the other way.

hes completely right. if they dont want the military there to recruit then why should they have the right for that same military to defend them?

The RATS keep calling O'reilly a "conservative", when he's just a weathervane, spinning in the wind.

Yeah, I'm hit & miss with Bill. His "record oil profits" segments have been idiotic. He hasn't had one economist on (that I've seen) who supports his position. He somehow read a governors race to be the downfall for Republicans. I still don't get that one.

However, when it come to illegals, Islamofascism, and the ACLU, and this SF nonesense, he has been dead on.

City official says O'reilly must be on the same meds as Limbaugh. They have a poll that could be freeped if someone wanted to. I don't want any American city wiped away, but if it must happen, San Francisco would certainly be missed the least (by the normal people).

Yes, like any radical fringe leftist hater does! Topped off the Ninth Circus Court of Appeals -- hardcore socialist activists judges, the cancer of our judicial system. As a California citizen for over 55 years, I can say with qualification that SAN FRANCISCO is a MAJOR embarassment to REAL CALIFORNIANS.

Let's just say that when the Big One hits SF, it will be a struggle to muster the funds to rebuild. Since the denizens of that place are such nature lovers, it should be a wildlife sanctuary with absolutely no humans allowed.

It's truly tragic. I'm a former midwesterner and Bay Area resident now for 20 years. For someone who has to work professionally but enjoys the cultural and natural wonders the city as to offer (world class surfing, mountain biking, and many other sports are withing a stone's throw of downtown), the place is paradise.

It's always been offbeat, but 20 years ago San Franicsco's quirks were rather tame and amusing footnotes, rather than society-defining mantras.

The city today is a joke---self obsessed, smug, self congratulatory and aggrandising in it's far left positions...looney liberal left ground zero. The city council actually had to have a debate---remember this?---about whether taking a crap in the middle of the street was against the law. The city hates the military, has turned the homeless into saints (and well-off ones at that), rabidly promotes the radical gay agenda as a social norm (and views anyone contrary as homophobic), loathes all religious belief except Kaballah and Islam, openly tolerates drugs and prostituion as victimless crimes, and has an air of moral and intellectual superiority that boggles the imagination (after Gray Davis was thrown out on his ass---never a more corrupt and incompetent politician has there ever been---San Francisco was one of the few counties that voted to keep him in office. Every article published in the local papers claimed that it was the fact that San Franciscans were "better educated and better informed" as the reason they voted the way they did).

Truly a tragedy.

Jeez, how can some of you guys hope for the destruction of a city?

I guarantee you there are some FReepers hiding out there. Just like I'm hiding out in an area possibly more liberal by percentage than SF. I've been threatened and had property destroyed for displaying patriotic signs.

Posts like these give the DUmmies lots of ammo

Twenty years ago, the AIDS epidemic was gathering force in SF, forcing gay men to fight for their lives and change their behaviors after a decade of wild excess.

In 1978, the Mayor and an openly gay city supervisor were assassinated by a supervisor who had resigned in protest of the passage of a gay-rights bill; the result was three days of gays rioting in the street.

In the mid to late 1960s, SF was a mecca for psychedelic drug users, who lived in degraded conditions on the street, developing diseases not seen in developing countries for generations.

So is SF really so bad these days?

It was the experience of living and working in Frisco in the early 80's that turned me into a conservative. Before that revelation of loony leftism run amok, I actually considered myself one of them. Seeing how they operated in real life convinced me I wasn't. And the city back then was sane compared to what it is now. Needless to say, it is physically one of the best-situated and most picturesque cities in America, and I liked living there. But most of the people are utter nitwits. As Robin Williams put it, "a human game preserve".

Near as I can tell it would be anti Constitutional to try to enforce this. It has about as much impact as when they declared San Francisco and Berkeley as Nuclear Free Zones! I'm sure this will be tested ASAP, and thrown out.

That's the best description of SF I've seen. I remember the first time I ever went there, probably in the early'90s and I was shocked at having to literally step over "homeless" on every sidewalk. Later visits showed that the corner squeege man or will work for food sign holders were on every street corner harrasing cars. By this time Guliani had already cleaned up NY and I could only get the feeling that they all migrated westward.

It truly is a beautiful area and a unique city but I just can't stomach the place. NY may be liberal but at least it has some pretense of decency.
