9/11 Commissioner former Navy Secretary John Lehman said Monday that President Bill Clinton's decision not to accept Sudan's offer to extradite Osama bin Laden to the U.S. in 1996 was probably the biggest blunder in the war on terrorism.
Reacting to NewsMax.com's audiotape of Mr. Clinton admitting he turned down the Sudanese, Secretary Lehman told radio host Sean Hannity, "[Clinton's comments offer] a very good insight into the overall policy during the Clinton administration, which was essentially dominated by lawyers [who treated bin Laden] as a law enforcement, not a foreign policy or a prevention issue."
Asked if it was "wrong to conclude that the biggest mistake we made was not taking Osama when we had an opportunity," Lehman told Hannity, "Yes, that's certainly true."
"There were many ways in which [bin Laden] could have been apprehended," he added.
Reacting to comments from 9/11 Commission Chairman Tom Kean, who said yesterday that if the U.S. had nabbed bin Laden while he was in Sudan, "the whole story might have been different," Secretary Lehman told Hannity, "I do agree with that."
The former Reagan administration official said, however, that it was a mistake to focus entirely on the 9/11 mastermind, because al-Qaida is "raising a whole generation of young Arab children and youth to hate America."
"Getting Osama probably would have disrupted the planning [for 9/11]," Lehman said, "but it wasn't just Osama."

No one can deny that removing a cancer when it first starts gives you a better chance to whip the disease. These bungles of Clinton and the Democrats have cost this country dearly and they are the reason the Democrats have villianized Bush since day one, they are trying to cover up their ineptness. The Democrat Party in America is nothing more than a cancer whose roots are spreading. They are more dangerous to our way of life than terrorist. As a matter of fact they have become a form of terrorism with their propaganda machines along with the foreigners who provide the money to run them.

Up until 9/11 the 'rats battlecry was that Bush I blundered in Gulf War I by not finishing the job by moving into Baghdad and taking Sadaam Hussein out.
The republicans truly have no stones because if they did they would be saying it every day that Clinton's law enforcement approach to terrorism led to 9/11.

"the Clinton administration, which was essentially dominated by lawyers"
Obviously, Hillary has the same mind-set. This needs to be used against her in '08.

Bill Clinton is forever in search of the Nobel Peace Prize.
He avoided conflict with terrorism in anticipation of that prize.
America suffered at the hands of his pride.

One can play the tape and the libDems still deny that Clinton refused to take bin Laden.
[It is amazing. Yet, they get away with it.]

Carter/Clinton - 2 of the most damaging, irresponsible, presidents in U.S. history.
Yet they keep smiling.

It's just dumbfounding to watch the east and west-coast liberals and their representatives continually try to elevate their Slacker President and his Know-Nothing Do-Nothing Administration to immortal stature.

Jamie Gorelick had already built the 'wall' as directed by Bill Clinton to keep agencies from further digging into the Clinton Oval Office business and I don't mean Monica.

because al-Qaida is "raising a whole generation of young Arab children and youth to hate America." And so are we with our own children in our local "government indoctrination centers" AKA public schools.
What's the difference ?

He avoided conflict with terrorism in anticipation of that prize. Amen! The "law enforcement approach" was not only a cover for not doing anything, the Gorelek doctrine guaranteed there would be no actionable intelligence and no paper trail back to Slick. The Balkans war was another effort to help the terrorists.
Fortunately, just like the snake in the parable, Arafat double crossed him by rejecting the deal. Add him to Slick's List of Deceased.

In a little noticed comment during the time of the Intelligence Commission meetings Lehman said he never signed a Silver Star award for John Kerry. No one followed up on that and I wish they would. He was the one who would have had to sign it and if he didn't, who did? That is far more important than the forged documents about W's TANG duty yet no one seems interested.

You are kidding right? I could post lots of pictures of young arabs with belt bombs and automatic weapons but why bother. You are talking apples and oranges, but with your comparison, do you even know what fruit is?
To: conservativecorner
No, I'm not kidding. No, we may not be explicitly teaching them to blow up people, but we are teaching them to hate America, to hate capitalism, and to hate everything this country stands for - self reliance, individualism, and self-determination. And what do we get ? The rioters in Los Angeles and Cincinnati. Mayhem in Central Park. Greek Week or Mardi Gras in Philadelphia. The looters in New Orleans. People who are so helpless they can't figure out how to lay in supplies before a hurricane and blame everyone else for their problems. Youths in inner cities whose misdeeds are blamed on poor socio-economic conditions. Minorities who are excused any bad behavior because of their history of "oppression". Leaders who excuse and condone such behavior.
Ever read a history textbook used in the public schools or our universities ? or listen to Hannity's man in the street interviews, or even Jay Leno's ? Ask Lynn Cheney about US History standards at the federal level. Read the policy statements of the NEA and see the agendas promoted in schools.
We are letting leftists educate our young, and they are voting Democrat and joining groups like Code Pink or Louis Farrakahn's (sp?) minions.
It's a short, very short, step away from words to violence.

This legacy confab is in and of itself proof certain of clinton's deeply flawed character, and a demonstration in real time of the way in which the clinton years were about a legacy that was incidentally a presidency. Madeleine Albright captured the essence of this dysfunctional presidency best when she explained why clinton couldn't go after bin Laden. According to Richard Miniter, the Albright revelation occurred at the cabinet meeting that would decide the disposition of the USS Cole bombing by al Qaeda [that is to say, that would decide to do what it had always done when a "bimbo" was not spilling the beans on the clintons: Nothing]. Only Clarke wanted to retaliate militarily for this unambiguous act of war. Albright explained that a [sham] Mideast accord would yield [if not peace for the principals, surely] a Nobel Peace Prize for clinton. Kill or capture bin Laden and clinton could kiss the accord and the Peace Prize good-bye. If clinton liberalism, smallness, cowardice, corruption, perfidy--and, to borrow a phrase from Andrew Cuomo, clinton cluelessness--played a part, it was, in the end, the Nobel Peace Prize that produced the puerile pertinacity that enabled the clintons to shrug off terrorism's global danger.

"I remember exactly what happened. Bruce Lindsey said to me on the phone, 'My God, a second plane has hit the tower.' And I said, 'Bin Laden did this.' that's the first thing I said. He said, 'How can you be sure?' I said 'Because only bin Laden and the Iranians could set up the network to do this and they [the Iranians] wouldn't do it because they have a country in targets. Bin Laden did it.' I thought that my virtual obsession with him was well placed and I was full of regret that I didn't get him." bill clinton Sunday, Sept 3, 2002 Larry King Live

"Mr. bin Laden used to live in Sudan. He was expelled from Saudi Arabia in '91 and he went to the Sudan. We'd been hearing that the Sudanese wanted America to start dealing with them again. They released him [bin Laden]. At the time, '96, he had committed no crime against America, so I did not bring him here because we had no basis on which to hold him, though we knew he wanted to commit crimes against America. So I pleaded with the Saudis to take him, 'cause they could have; but they thought it was a hot potato. They didn't and that's how he wound up in Afghanistan." bill clinton Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002 Clinton Reveals on Secret Audio: I Nixed Bin Laden Extradition Offer

GIVEN:
- hillary clinton is a "CONGENITAL LIAR",
- the seditious Left caused America to telegraph our every intention to the UN for almost a year, engineering the ludicrous slow-mo, blow-by-blow buildup to war.
- we now learn from none other than the seditious, (and obviously not too swift) classified-data disseminator and memogate schemer himself--Sen. Jay Rockefeller--that he gave our enemies in the Mideast a heads-up that we were going into Iraq...
And the Left doesn't think Saddam had more than sufficient time to ship his WMD and WMD components to Syria... or to some other asymmetric netherworld? Gimme a break....
The only conclusion we can make about WMD in Iraq is about what we did find and what we didn't find. The Left, which includes the press, either needs to take a course in logic or needs to face the firing squad. THE DEMOCRATS ARE GONNA GET US KILLED. It's as simple as that. How can this country survive when the Democrats and their media accomplices are seditious, unrelenting purveyors of THE BIG LIE? And who do you think set this tactic into motion, anyway? NOTE: Demonizing a putative liar-president is not the best way to set up the candidacy of the sickest liar of the pack.... Maybe the smart money is trying for an endrun around the incompetent witch....

WHY ARE THEY PROTECTING CLINTON? It was either Rush or O'Reily who stated the answer to this question.
Answer - the powerful will always protect the powerful, regardless of which party they're from.
