Kerry: Senate GOP Proposal for Iraq Withdrawal Shows GOP Support for War "Crumbling"
johnKerry.com ^ | governsleastgovernsbest

Posted on 11/15/2005 10:58:24 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

Earlier today I posted a thread reporting on Bill Frist's appearance on the Today show, during which he touted his weak-sister proposal for withdrawal from Iraq. Here's a link to the thread:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1522296/posts

Sure enough, it didn't take the Dems long to exploit Frist's weakness. Check out the email below just received from John Kerry. Frist and his fellow GOP supporters of the proposal have no one to blame but themselves.

-----------------------------------

Dear ,

You can feel the ice breaking. For far too long, Republican leaders have refused to challenge the aimless Bush "stay as long as it takes" approach to Iraq. But now, their unwillingness to act has started to crumble.

Today in the Senate, facing a Democratic resolution on Iraq, the Republicans offered their own call for President Bush to come up with a plan. They didn't go nearly far enough, but clearly our call for a concrete plan is gaining momentum.

It's time for the next step. Help our "20,000 troops home over the holidays" campaign place billboards in the home districts of Republican leaders.

Help place billboards in Republican leaders' home districts

To date, over a quarter of a million people have signed our call to withdraw 20,000 troops from Iraq over the holidays. That withdrawal should be linked to the completion of December elections in Iraq - and it should be the first step in the concrete plan for Iraq that President George W. Bush owes the American people.

We shouldn't let America's brave men and women go another day without having such a plan in place. That's why we're turning up the heat with our Billboards and House Signs campaign over the next month.

Will you add your voice and your financial support to this effort right now?

Help place billboards in Republican leaders' home districts

This is the next key step in a grassroots organizing and mobilizing campaign that won't end until we've forced the Bush administration to act. The best way to do that is to turn up the heat on Republican leaders in Congress.

It's important to get our "20,000 troops home over the holidays" message out everywhere. With your help, we'll run these billboards where they can be seen by key Republican leaders of Congress.

And, to extend this phase of our "20,000 troops home over the holidays" effort to your own hometown, here's what we've done. We've created a downloadable version of the billboard that you can print and post in your own home.

Download and display a house sign

We can feel the momentum building every day behind our call for a concrete plan for Iraq. And our Billboards and House Signs initiative can keep moving things forward. Let's make it happen.

Sincerely,

John Kerry

P.S. We've got to act fast to place and produce these billboards. In addition to donating, I hope you'll pass news of this exciting initiative on to your friends and colleagues by forwarding this message now.

If the populace concludes the "war" has devolved to our soldiers driving around, and dying, babysitting a bunch of inept Sharia-led Moos who won't assume responsibility for their own security, you bet support will crumble.

We'll just have to wait and see. The blatherings of The Lurch and Silky Pony Show are irrelevent.

Nice job, Republican Senators. Bash the President's foreign policy and our troops WHILE THE PRESIDENT IS OVERSEAS.

THERE IS ONLY ONE QUESTION THAT NEEDS TO BE ASKED EVERY TIME THIS WAR CRAP COMES UP:

"WOULD THIS ACTION PLEASE OR DISPLEASE THE TERRORISTS?"

The Democrats and some wussy Republicans in Congress are certainly NOT disheartening the terrorists.

Yes, Kerry has friends, if only because when no one else can think of anything to do, he can always been counted upon to "have a plan."

Kerry's a moron.

he knows this amendment only backs up what the President is already doing.

What it DOES signify, however, is that dimwitted public relation disasters in the GOP Senate caucus were repsonding to polls in attempting to have it both ways. Endorse the Administration's current actions, but create illusion they were cracking down. Will the PR challenged Senate GOP please get in touch with members on this board for communique advice? You obviously haven't a damn clue how to play this game.

What you should have done-

A resolution "voicing Confidence in the mission and our troops and voicing to the terrorists, despite reports to the contrary, we're scehduled to have surgical spine implementations and so will stay till you're all residing warmly in Hell".

THAT'S how you support the war, Our troops and our President while keeping Dems and MSM on offensive and bucking up the American people.

Most people here are focusing on Kerry. But the real culprits are Frist and the other GOP senators who support Frist's "withdrawal" resolution. They're the ones who gave Kerry this opening.

I have actually seen posts acting like the vote today was NO BIG DEAL....but, I don't agree...this is a big deal, because the Republicans (not all) just handed a victory on a silver platter...whether the amendment really makes changes is not even the point...it is the PERCEPTION.

BTW...the smart Republicans...the ones who voted NO on both stupid amendments are:

Burr
Demint
Coburn
Graham
Inhofe
Isaakson
Kyl
McCain
Sessions
Thune
Vitter

THESE senators need to hear from us to let them know how much we appreciate them.

These amendments are bad ideas, but to say it allowed Dems to exploit it. Come on, they exploited Christopher Reeve when he died. They will exploit anything.

The amendments are stupid, spineless, do nothing, say nothing proposals, that are irrelevant on their face and useless in their implementation.

Lib utterances are irrelevant.

GOP stupidity is relevant.

John Kerry reminds me of what Wally George said about Walter Mondale during the 1984 presidential campaign.

The question was posed to Wally, "what do you thinnk of Mondale?", to which Wally replied/screamed, "He's the best man the Russians have got!".

The reply still works, just a different name.

These Pubbies need to ask for a backbone for Christmas. When they become the minority party again, they will have no one to blame but themselves. Unbelievable.

And - regarding the "20,000 troops home over the holidays" campaign, I know for a fact that alot of troops are home or, have orders to come home. For example, the 250th Forward Support Battalion DISCOM (Rainbow Division) out of Somerset NJ has already begun to come home after being on active duty since April of last year. The last of them will be home before Christmas. But I guess they dont count.

Martinez is a disappointment to a lot of us. I was against him from the beginning because I thought it was fishy the way Bush inserted him in the race. The Bushbots went wild for him and ignored Bill McCullem who paid a high price for having the ethics to serve in the impeachment of Bill Clinton.

IMO, McCullem deserved the spot far more than Martinez for having the courage of his convictions to pursue the impeachment. I think he has paid a far higher price than Clinton ever will.

Martinez has not only turned against the president, he has become a major disappointment to his supporters. I don't think that the next election cycle will be quite as kind to the RINO!!!
