GUNNY BOB'S COLUMN NOVEMBER 17, 2005:

A Traitor's Tirade: Rep. John Murtha Soils The Corps

In a statement that has angered, embarrassed and humiliated Marines around the globe, one of our own -- a retired Marine Corps Reserve colonel -- has called for the legendary fighting force to retreat from Iraq and surrender to the terrorist organization that has killed thousands of Americans at home and abroad. He has even called for the United States to enter into negotiations with al Qaeda. This vermin’s demand for retreat, surrender and negotiations with the enemy is so committed to assisting al Qaeda in their efforts in Iraq that he has posted his unspeakable demands on his website in the form of an official statement

John Murtha press release: http://www.house.gov/apps/list/press/pa12_murtha/pr051117iraq.html

The traitor, Democratic Rep. John P. Murtha, agrees 100% with Osama bin Laden and Abu Musab al Zarqawi that the Marine Corps, which is mangling the enemy on a daily basis in Iraq and suffering comparatively light casualties, should lay down its arms, call it quits, and abandon the people they are defending in the fledgling democracy of Iraq.

Furious Marines from wars as far back as World War II are spitting mad at the cowardly colonel and many want his head on a stake in the middle of the Marine Corps Commandant's lawn. Personally, I would not soil that good earth with so vile and despicable a piece of offal.

Encouraging retreat is viewed as aiding the enemy by the Marines and is a violation of Article 104 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, which is punishable by death. Currently serving Marines, active duty or reserve, who encourage surrender are in violation of Article 100 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, an offense also punishable by death. Because Murtha is retired, he is virtually assured of not being prosecuted.

However, he will be celebrated by al Qaeda and other terrorists around the world. At this very moment, al Qaeda communications specialists are likely prepping pieces of propaganda using Murtha’s traitorous tirade as a tool to recruit fresh killers by showing them that even an American Marine (apologies to Puller) believes his allegedly beloved Corps is so inept in battle that retreat and surrender are the Marines’ best option and perhaps should, in fact, be added for the first time to the Leathernecks’ vast, quasi-mythical repertoire of operational art and battlefield strategy.

Murtha joins the likes of traitor Clayton Lonetree, the Marine security guard who gave top-secret intelligence to the Soviets, and traitor Robert Garwood, the Marine who went over to the enemy during the Vietnam War and was involved in holding and abusing US prisoners of war in North Vietnam while wearing the uniform of the enemy.

The Marine Corps is famous for its members standing their ground and winning fights against outrageous odds. Battles with names like the Peking Legation, Belleau Wood, Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Iwo Jima, the Chosin Reservoir, Khe Sanh and Fallujah decorate the hallowed halls of Corps history. Especially repugnant is how Murtha is insisting upon surrender while the Marines are decimating the enemy en masse.

Marines should ask Murtha if Chesty Puller would order retreat and surrender before the enemy.

John "The Jellyfish" Murtha should be shunned by all Marines and, if possible, legal steps should be taken to prevent this betrayer from being buried in a national cemetery upon his demise.

Pretending that we cannot afford to win a war but can afford to lose it through unilateral withdrawal is ludicrous.

(and disasterous)

Bump.

This guy served his nation with honor. It is too bad that today he dishonors himself, the Marine Corp and the nation.

If Iraq is not victory then someone tell me what victory looks like.

25 million people freed
Overthrow of evil dictator thugs (yes this includes Saddams advisors. Mr Clinton)
victory over 5th largest military in the world
free elections in record time
capture and or killing of the majority of most wanted Saddam followers
Schools and infrastructure rebuilding.
Constitution written and passed
less than 10,000 lost soldiers.
This and much more accomplished in less than 3 years

I fully expect a direct attack on US soil by Al Qaida now that the Dems and Murtha and the MSM have softened up the target, us. (USA)-

Pleeeese, stop the bubble machine!!!!!!!!!!

Murtha didn't just "flip" overnight because someone has "damaging FBI files on him".....or because "he turned senile overnight". Why are folks knocking themselves out to make every excuse under the sun for him?

This Benedict Arnold has a long lefty, anti-war, anti-military history.....a freeper posted his legislative record on this board the other day. The ideology voiced in his statement yesterday didn't just happen OVERNIGHT.

The guy is an obsessed ideologue which he's kept pretty much quiet in the past. He knows EXACTLY what he's doing.

He probably didn't write his lengthy, convoluted statement all by himself. That's what researchers, lawyers and writers on congresspeoples' staffs are for. But he obviously has a radical leftist aide who can write in a Goebbel's-like manner a statement that is glib, smooth, full of eye-popping false "facts", false charges and innuendos and weighty-appearing enough to fool a lot of the sheeple.

No, let's not excuse this traitor......pin him to the wall for what he is and what he'll go to his grave being.....anti-American.

I don't care if he was Audie Murphy when he was younger, he's a traitor now.

Boy, am I ticked, fellow freepers. Murtha is only one thump of the well-organized drumbeat of defeat coming at us and our President from all sides now.....jeopardizing our freedom and security......and the lives of our troops above all.

Leni

Count me as another Marine who is embarrassed by this fraud. Last year he said we can't win. This year he says we have won, let's go home, but any year he is still a Democrat so party is more important than country to him.

The war in Iraq is as much a psychological war as a kinetic war. It is being fought daily in the press, on television and radio, and here on the Internet. The intent of the enemy, Al Queda and others is to break our will. They have, unfortunately, found political allies among many in the Democratic party who see an opportunity for gaining political power by exploiting the casualties suffered in the kinetic aspects of the war.

Our military won the 1st stage when they defeated the Iraqis in the spring of 2003. We are now engaged in what we call the "three block war" wherein we are simultaneously fighting to maintain peace and stability while helping democratic minded people to establish themselves, and fighting to defeat terrorist and former regime "die hards" who still believe they can regain control if they are ruthless enough. They know that they have politically oriented allies here in the US for their psychological campaign. They will continue as long as we are there. They opened a second front just this week when they had some "detainees" complain to the press that they had been tortured by the new Iraqi government forces.

John Murtha has been defeated in the psychological war. They have made the pain of attrition so great for him that he has said he will do whatever it take to get relief, not in so many words of course, but that is the reality of his statements. Murtha, and his fellow Democrats are truly "Sunshine Soldiers" who will be there if it looks like we are winning easily but will run and hide if they are "uncomfortable".

A little while ago I heard Andrea Mitchell state that "many" in the military are against the war and that it was only supported by the "chicken-hawks" in the administration... great psyop tool but while many in the administration did not serve there is no proof that "many" military personnel in the country oppose the war. Her statement was typical MSM propaganda, put a lie and a truth together and voila! both are true.

The "Winter Soldiers" must stand together and fight for right. Do not let the bastards wear you down!

Jack Murtha was one of two people who voted for Charlie Rangel's Draft Bill (H.R. 163, introduced Jan 7, 2003), back in 2004. Please look at Roll Call Vote 494, held on 5 Oct 2004.

Only he and Pete Stark voted for it. The bill sponsor (Rangel) and the remainder of the co-sponsors (incl. Conyers, Jackson-Lee, etc.) did not vote for the bill they sponsored!

Another self-proclaimed Marine officer has weighed in in an email to me (below). He can be reached at rayboyusmc@yahoo.com.

***

I listened to what Murtha said. Did you? I never heard all the crap about retreat and other right wing rhetoric that you conveniently put into your article. Why is it that you folks on the right can't just realize that other people who are just a frigging patriotic as you can believe differently.

Only and idiot or a total partisan will continue to hold onto an idea or approach when it is not working and people are dying because of its failings.

Vermin? Your use of this word alone, tells me what a right wing hate monger you must be.

I am embarassed as a careerr Marine by your comments. This war should never have been fought. It was planned stupidly by the Bush administration who ignored senior military advice. Our Marines and Soldiers are dying because this adminstration was more concerned about the "New American Empire" and oil than WMDs or Iraqi freedom and still today won't re-evaluate how we should be fighting it.

I guess you think we should have stayed in Vietnam also. Why bother if both wars are based on lies and real Americans are dying for the the greed of a few rich Republicans. When this is over and Cheney can collect his blind trust from Haliburton..... while the families of the dead Marines will grieve forever for their fallen loved ones--

You may be suprised how many Marines support Murtha.

General Smedley Butler said it best: War Is A Racket - Read the book Gunny. You might learn more about why we are in Iraq.
