An e-mail is bouncing around the Internet with photographs of alleged Bolivarian gunmen in an area of Caracas that appears to be 23 de Enero. Many appear to be teenagers, they are wearing Bolivarian t-shirts with Che Guevara's face super-imposed on Venezuela's national colors, and they are armed with Glock 9mm semi-automatic handguns. According to Pensamiento Militar Venezolano 2005, a strategic and tactical military defense document drafted under the direction of President Hugo Chávez, the core mission of these armed youths is to turn Caracas into a kill zone where escualidos will be hunted down systematically if the Chávez regime is toppled from power by internal or external forces. However, Chávez currently has a serious command-and-control crisis with armed groups of civilians like this one, according to our sources inside the Bolivarian revolution. He can't be certain the leaders of these groups will obey his orders.
In fact, Chávez is so concerned by the possibility that his Bolivarian cowboys won't follow his orders that two months ago he issued orders that these groups must disarm voluntarily or else coercively. However, our sources in the revolution report that these groups have rejected the president's orders that they surrender their weapons to state security forces. Sources also report that there are 21 separate irregular groups that were armed by the Chávez government but are now out of control, meaning that they refuse to obey the president ... Some of these groups have ties to municipal governments, some are involved in drug trafficking and other criminal enterprises, and some are warring with each other in a power struggle that is happening below the news media's radar.
These armed groups have no ties with the anti-Chávez opposition. ...
In the past year some of these groups have battled each other publicly.

They look middle class themselves. But evil.
It's exactly the type. The Weather Underground and Carlos the Jackal were exactly the same thing.
These little commie punks may have Glocks, a fairly costly weapon....
But will they have FOOD next year? Next month????
This is the problem. Chavez has significant support, and his supporters are prepared to fight. He has a significant part of the military with him, civilian goon squads armed and ready to go, his own guerrillas in the jungle, Cubans sprinkled throughout, all of them prepared to fight. And then, as the article suggests, many of these groups are more dedicated to the pursuit of power than they are to him.
He has opened a Pandora's box in making violent revolution socially admirable, chic even.
Who ever decides to overthrow Chavez will have the enormous problem of hunting these people down and disarming them. As you can imagine, they aren't going to go down without a fight.
Understanding this helps to explain the situation Pinochet faced when he overthrew his predecessor in Chile. Its not enough to get the guy at the top, you have to get them all. While granting that Pinochet's security forces undoubtedly committed abuses in the course of their work, it is also with a doubt that their work was going to be tough no matter what. Whoever overthrows Chavez had better be ruthless or he should just stay home.
Just plain idiots... almost like the Boslevek squads in the USSR in 1920
Paging Pat Robertson to repeat his statement as to preferred method for Hugo's demise.
El Caudillo

and these bloody little psycho-revolutionarios will have only themselves to blame when el gran limpiamiento comienza....como siempre
That chick looks like the guerrilla girl in the excellent terrorist movie called 'Nine Days In September.' After the torturers got done with her, she had a very different look. I prefer the second look on someone like her.
Eeeww!
"While granting that Pinochet's security forces undoubtedly committed abuses in the course of their work"
I've never been satisfied as to that.
So someone learned from the Iraqi insurgency. Old Hugo thought he'd take a page from Saddam's book, eh?
"f Ron isn't careful she will be revolutionary road kill sooner than many expect."
With any luck these fools will kill each other off, making it a bit easier to round up the remainder when sanity returns.
Franco wasn't nearly as bad as the left has painted him.
Another black legend.
You know....not meaning to quibble but I think Trotsky was soft compared to La Barba..
I'd like to see all their heads on pikes
Agree. I knew people who MOVED to Franco's Spain because it was freer than plenty of other places. Weird.
Zackly.
We've all heard the stories, but we've also seen how outrageously dishonest the press can be concerning things we know about. So your suspicion is well taken.
Wow. Perhaps her "revolutionary ardor" is fueled by her anger over the insurmountable lead other women have in the field of looks.
I am sure you've put your finger on it! The thug-woman is really gross, and the icky part is, she and her pal seem to be trying to make themselves look pretty and are not succeeding. Pathetic. And soon they will be roadkill.
"Agree. I knew people who MOVED to Franco's Spain because it was freer than plenty of other places. Weird."
Hey, under Franco you were perfectly free to act right. Of course, if you wanted to act like a depraved leftist slug, you might have encountered some negative consequences.
Franco knew what to do.
They had their chance during the abortive coup, when he was in their hands.
I see Che shirts around San Diego daily.
I give them hell for glorifying an assessino, and ask them if that is what they want in the USA, firing squads for "class enemies."
They have no idea what I'm talking about. Che is someone between Martin Luther King and Ghandi to them, but cooler.
So sad. But that's ok. Those are type of people, that, to quote "Hitchiker's guide to the Galaxy", "will be the first against the wall when the revolution comes". :)
When that day comes, it won't be an America we recognize.
Non-geographical civil wars are the worst.
I keep thinking that the "Red Dawn" scenario keeps becomming more and more likely, except with the Chinese remotely funded and coordinating the assault rather than the Russians.
Meus hermaos, o somente Communistas boas nao podem respirar...
What are these escualidos the Chavez-supporters are proposing to kill off?
What does the word mean?
Ugly chick. Likes to burn American flags, does she?
Actually, it sounds more like old Pineapple-Face Noriega's Panamanian "dignity battalions," even down to the T-shirts.
Yeah, after reading some of these posts I realize old Saddam was simply a copy cat and not a very good one at that.
I read someplace that Saddam was getting his ideas about "asymmetrical warfare" from Chinese coaches.....someone ought to ask him how he thinks things are going in the asymmetrical-warfare department.
In the end, all those ideas hark back to the Bolsheviks and their "front" activities and civil wars.
I have even seen Ho t-shirts here.
I wanted to take the guy's head off.
A major reason I'm moving to NW Florida/Lower Alabama is demographics and culture/politics.
SoCal is going to be an urban warfare battleground in CW2, and no way for a family to live in security.
it's a good choice for your family.
in the South, one must look for flagrant Che type romanticist lefties...
usually around an elite school like here
The word 'escualidos' means 'squalid ones' and it's Chavez's affectionate nickname for middle class people. It's supposed to make the underclass who loves him feel better.
Chavez by the way wears $2000 Hermes suits.
L
LOL! They do kinda serve as targets!
Sounds like Cambodia.
Escualidos, traidores, y malandros... his affectionate terms for anyone who doesn't march to his tune.
I know a few of his "malandros" and they are the best people you will ever want to meet.
There have been Lenin and even Stalin t-shirts on some of them.
The (communist) Russians and Chinese are playing an ever increasing role in this, expecially the deep discount by Russia on the weapons sold to Chavez. And when they say 100,000 AK Rifles, suspect at least 500,000 AK Rifles will be shipped. Also, Chavez is getting advanced MiG/Sukoi fighters and Hind MI-24D gunships. I also believe the numbers printed are much lower than what Chavez will take in.
The Russians never gave up Communism fully, and they still fund anti-American and pro-communist movements worldwide. They also have a KGB agent running things over there.
What's malandro mean? Maliante?
So did Pinochet.
