OUTRAGE--Special Sneakers to Ease Sneaking Over the Border: New York designer Judy Werthein is giving away, free, a special set of sneakers to illegal aliens before they cross into the U.S.--TO MAKE THEIR ILLEGAL ENTRY EASIER!

Official Sneaker of Illegal Aliens and the Idiot Liberals who Love Them I can't portray the outrage and absurdity better than the AP article did, so I post the key excerpts below, with some of my questions/comments in bold CAPS:

"SAN DIEGO--The high-top sneakers [called "Brincos"] cost $215 at a San Diego boutique, but the designer is giving them away to migrants before they cross to this side of the U.S.-Mexico border.

These are no ordinary shoes. A compass and flashlight dangle from one shoelace. The pocket in the tongue is for money or pain relievers. A rough map of the border region is printed on a removable insole. [DS: HOW CUTE!]

They are red, white and green, the colors of the Mexican flag. On the back ankle, a drawing of Mexico's patron saint of migrants." [DS: GEE, AND I THOUGHT OUR FLAG WAS RED, WHITE, AND BLUE. SILLY ME. JUDY WERTHEIN KNOWS BETTER WHAT COUNTRY WE'RE IN.]

***

"On recent evening in Tijuana, after giving away 50 pairs at a migrant shelter, Werthein waved the insole and pointed to Interstate 8, the main road between San Diego and Phoenix.

"This blue line is where you want to go," Werthein, 38, said in Spanish. [DS: NICE, SHE'S BI-LINGUAL. SHE SHOULD LEARN ARABIC, GIVE OUT SNEAKERS AT THE DETROIT-WINDSOR BORDER, TOO. SWIMSUITS FOR THOSE WILLING TO SWIM THE DETROIT RIVER AT NIGHT. THROW IN DESIGNER PADDLES FOR CANOES, TOO, WHILE SHE'S AT IT.]

"Good luck! You're all very courageous," she told the cheering crowd of about 50 men huddled in a recreation room after dinner. [DS: COURAGEOUS?! SINCE WHEN IS IT COURAGEOUS TO INVADE A COUNTRY, ENTER ILLEGALLY, BREAK ITS LAWS, AND STEAL ITS BENEFITS FROM TAXPAYERS. I KNOW COURAGE. THAT AIN'T IT. ATTENTION MINUTE MEN: TIME TO MAKE A CITIZEN'S ARREST OF THIS SLEAZY WOMAN, JUDY WERTHEIN.]

***

"Werthein has concluded that shoes are a border crosser's most important garment.

"The main problem that people have when they're crossing is their feet," Werthein. "If people are going to cross anyway, at least this will make it safer." [DS: NO, IDIOTA, THE MAIN PROBLEM IS THAT THEY ARE INVADING OUR COUNTRY!]

***

Benefactors put up $40,000 for the project; Werthein gets a $5,000 stipend, plus expenses. [DS: WHO ARE THESE BENEFACTORS? ARREST THEM, TOO. ARE THEY GETTING TAX DEDUCTIONS FOR THIS? BET THEY ARE.]

Across the border, several curious migrants waiting for sunset along a cement river basin approached Werthein as she took white shoe boxes out of a sport utility vehicle. One man already wore a dirty pair of Brincos. Another, Felipe de Jesus Olivar Canto, slipped into a size 11 and said he would use them instead of his black leather shoes.

"These are much more comfortable for hiking," said Olivar Canto. He said he was heading for $6.75-an-hour work installing doors and windows in Santa Ana, about 90 miles north of border. "The ones I have are more dressy." [DS: WOULDN'T WANT TO DIRTY THOSE DRESS SHOES WHEN YOU'RE DOING THE ILLEGAL CHA CHA INTO THE STATES, WOULD WE? NEED THEM CLEAN AND SPOTLESS FOR THE BENEFITS OFFICE.]

From there, Werthein went to Casa del Migrante, a Tijuana shelter that will receive a share of the proceeds from Brincos sold in the United States.

"Does it have a sensor to alert us to the Border Patrol?" joked Javier Lopez, 33, who said he had a $10-an-hour job hanging drywall waiting for him in Denver. [DS: HA-HA, FUNNY. CAN'T SAY I BLAME THEM FOR LAUGHING AT US. IN OTHER COUNTRIES, MS. WERTHEIN WOULD HAVE ALREADY BEEN BEHEADED, OR IN JAIL AT THE VERY LEAST.]

To research the best design over two years, Werthein interviewed shoe designers, migrants, aid workers, even an immigrant smuggler. She joined the Mexican government's Grupo Beta migrant-aid society on long border hikes. She heard from a Salvadoran woman in Tijuana who said she was kidnapped and raped by her smuggler. [DS: ALL THAT RESEARCH AND NO RAPE KIT. DAMN, NO LIST OF IMMIGRATION LAWYERS AND BUSINESS CARD FROM THE SOUTHERN POVERTY LAW CENTER EITHER. WHAT'S A GIRL TO DO?]

Based on those interviews, she added a pocket--migrants told her they were often robbed. She also added the flashlight--many cross at night.

Some get lost--hence, the compass and map.

"If you get lost," she told the men at the shelter, "just go north."

***

"I wouldn't wear them and I wouldn't want my husband to wear them," said Blends browser Antonieta LaRussa, 28. "But the cause is awesome. There's so much opposition to immigration. She's looking at it from the other side of the fence and asking why." [DS: THE CAUSE IS "AWESOME?!" HUH? GOOD QUESTION--WHY WOULD WE WANT TO PROTECT OUR BORDERS? THAT'S REALLY DUMB. I THINK THERE'S A HOUSE OWNED BY MR. & MRS. LARUSSA READY FOR OCCUPANCY BY "IMMIGRANTS."]

The Brincos outrage perpetrated by New York designer Judy Werthein that we've been hearing in the news recently is putting it too mildly. Boutique sneakers for illegal aliens and championed by idiot liberals who love them. At $215 a pop, hey let's just sell the country for chump change. America is bad and must atone for its sins by compensating illegal immigrants - with cool sneakers.

What a $215 pair of sneakers looks like. They make Birkenstocks look mainstream:

What a bad ass mother-f*ckin' pair of shoes. Just the kind liberals love.

Maybe the tread on the bottom includes arrows to make tracking them easier?

LOL! There are times when I would have liked all my high-end shoes to have been FREE! Here illegal aliens are given a privilege our own poor don't get. I wish liberals would explain to me how that's fair.

I always loathed those signs on the San Diego Fwy. It seems to me that people who have no business being in this country in the first place have no claim and no right to seek the protection of our laws.

How disgusting. Why we can't use them for target practice is beyond me.

The penalty for treason is death. She should be tried, convicted and then sentenced to be beaten to death with a pair of her own sneakers.

The most ironic thing about this whole mess is that the sneakers are MADE IN CHINA for $17 a pair.

This gormless twit could have sent her business south of the border if she was serious about helping the people of Mexico.

BTW, she's from Argentina. I think it is time for her to take a long walk back across the border, wearing a pair of her own sneakers. The compass should come in handy.

Cheap Grace at $40,000. Chump change for a little hypocrital do-gooding.

Why don't they REALLY do something for the poor Mexicans like investing in Mexico, starting charities to build homes and schools, daycare for the poor in Mexico, and most importantly creating JOBS in Mexico.

I really hate Cheap Grace....

compass and flashlight dangle from one shoelace

I'm guessing authorities should be allowed to "profile" these sneakers.

Well, if the intended beneficiaries are smart they can use 'em once, then put em up on Ebay. I'm sure the Birckenstock crowd would be especially proud to wear them used.

Hokay, I checked Ebay. So far the only "Brincos" they have are recordings from this spanish garage band from the 60's.

I'm sure I won't have to wait long, however. Madame designer will no doubt profit from the politically correct publicity.

Did y'all happen to catch this one?

Home Loans for Illegal Immigrants No Social Security number? No legal residency? No Problem!

Home Loans for Illegal ImmigrantsNovember 19, 2005 - For many, it's the American dream: owning a home. With the recent spike in housing costs, it's become more difficult for many Valley families to qualify for a home loan. But some local banks are giving out loans, and they don't even require a social security number.

David seems like your typical first-time homeowner. The house is small, money's tight. But his family is happy. "It was our dream." he said. "So it was like our dream became true, finally."

But getting a loan from the bank almost didn't happen. An employee from the bank called and said it seemed they had a problem.

The problem was David's social security number ... it's a fake.

He is undocumented, an illegal immigrant. David thought it was a dead end, but not in California. It's among a few states where banks are offering mortgages to people who they know are illegal.

"He gave us good news, saying, 'oh, you have good credit, you've been good on your payments. Sure, we can help you out!,'" he recalls.

David got a 30-year, $135,000 loan. He pays $950 a month for his house in the South Valley.

The Valley non-profit group Acorn is helping people like David. They set him up with Citibank in Fresno, where a social security number is not required.

Instead, it asks for an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, or I-TIN. It proves they pay taxes to the IRS. Applicants also have to have a bank account, proof of US residency for two years, and two years of credit references.

"The banks wanna get bigger, wanna give mortgages to people and they see this is a tremendous money making opportunity," says Diana Hull, an illegal immigrant opponent.

Hull is the president of a group called Californians For Population Stabilization, based in Santa Barbara. Hull says the exact numbers are tough to gauge, but one estimate identifies 250,000 undocumented immigrants in the US who make enough money to be eligible for a home loan.

That equals $60 billion in potential mortgages.

But Hull says the big business is not just a bad idea ... she insists it's also against the law. "There is a law against aiding and abetting illegal aliens to continue to live in the United States. Issuing a mortgage to an illegal alien is helping him establish himself and remain the United States, which is clearly illegal. It's a felony," she says.

Hall says the problem goes all the way to the top, and she pins much of the blame on the largest of government institutions, like the FDIC, the IRS and the Social Security Administration.

For David, the immigration debate is not nearly so complicated. He came to California at the age of 13 on a passport, but he never went back to Mexico. Instead, he went to high school, learned English, and eventually got a job as an electrician.

David says he still thinks about the possibility of getting caught and being deported, but he says it's all worth the risk.

When asked how he feels when he hears a lot of people wish he were never able to do this, he says, "I work hard like any other citizen and I try to live just like a normal citizen. And I have everything, I think I still have my rights."

And he says that includes the right to own a piece of the American dream.

Despite the accusations that what they're doing is illegal, Citigroup and Acorn stand by the program.

Acorn issued a statement saying everything about their program is legal. They say in the United States, it is perfectly legal for non-citizens to own property.

When asked about its opinion on whether the program is indeed legal, or unlawfully entices illegal immigrants to stay, the U.S. Attorney's office refused an answer.
