Al Franken Schooled by Antonin Scalia at New York Event
The National Ledger ^ | 11-23-05 | CK Rairden

Posted on 11/22/2005 11:25:43 PM PST by Coastal

Al Franken stepped out of his comfortable echo-chamber of Air America on Monday night and was given more than one lesson by Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. The C-List political commentator attempted to rip off a sophomoric shot at Justice Scalia, but was quickly embarrassed, according to a report in the NY Post.

Franken, apparently unaware of exactly how far he was stepping up in class, was chided "as if he were a delinquent schoolboy at Time Warner Center on Monday night.

That is obvious from his "I think I got under his skin" comment afterward. The man is such an idiot, he didn't even know he lost the battle of words!!

Al Franken vs. Antonin Scalia....

From the article:
First, Scalia lectured Franken, "Demeanor is the wrong word. You mean ethics." Then he explained, "Ethics is governed by tradition. It has never been the case where you recuse because of friendship."

Well that bout didn't take too long.

I remember in High School a government teacher explaining to everyone that a lawyer is "one of those guys who can insult you, and you don't even realize until about three days later". One of these days, Al is going to tangle with someone very bright and simultaneously in a grouchy mood in front of the nation. It's not going to be a good day for Al.

You know come to think of it, and I truly mean this in as much of a "non partisan" purely objective way that I can manage, I really don't think Al is funny or bright. I didn't think the guy was funny before I heard that he's a liberal. Some people used to chuckle at the Stewart Smiley skits, I honestly never though much off them. I don't know if they were ever intended to be, but I never thought that they were "laugh out loud" funny. Speaking as objectively as I can, I don't think Frankin is really funny.

I also don't think Frankin is very bright. Again, I am being as objective as possible. When Scalia verbally back handed Al, I'll bet that Al really didn't get it.

Actually Franken, who went to Harvard on a math scholarship, is fairly bright....just not in matters concerning reason and logic. In short he's like most libs. I have a very liberal, viscerally Bush-hating brother-in-law who works for a major corporation and is an expert in financial matters. As would be expected, he did very well in math-related subjects throughout his academic career.

However if you had to listen to him rant, after he's had a few drinks (and often after he hasn't had a few drinks), you might assume that he was an uneducated moron. He gets everything wrong and is afflicted by the common liberal conceit that they are automatically smarter than any conservative. For instance he thinks that universities are controlled by conservatives. He is normally a very nice person... but also a very ignorant one...like most libs when they talk about politics or social matters.

Thank you, that's a great reference and a wonderful read. The rare times Scalia's on C-Span, he shines, absolutely outclasses everyone. It's so obvious, a two year-old couldn't miss it. That joust with Stephen Burger last year...I think...was jaw dropping. Extremely nervous, Burger tried not to look at him and talked as fast as he could -- a stream of drivel about the Constitution being old hat and how fabulous the World Court was. Scalia lounged in his chair, lobbing cruise missiles when he couldn't any more. He eviscerated Burger.

Every time one of Al's friends turns off their radio, the market share of Err America dips by 20%.

Somehow I don't believe Justice Scalia said it for Franken to "get it".

It was simply to relate to those, with some intellect, that Al was a loud mouth moron that is still "not ready for prime time".

Al told the Post, "I think I got under his skin a little."

Al is projecting here. He must think everyone is like him. The tiniest perceived slight or a disagreeable question will push this sawed-off drawf's buttons to the point of screaming hissy fits or even outright physical violence.

Ouch! Nothing stings more then using the wrong word or mispronouncing a word and having it pointed out to you - especially in front of others! If Stuart Smally truly believed he got under Nino's skin, he is extremely dense. What is the most dense element? Stuart would beat that.

"I think I got under his skin a little."

If that's so, Scalia got under Frickin's skin, peeled it off, baked it, and handed it back to him.

Oh, those ultra-brainy, smirking little liberals.

They never learn. They never will. They're far too self-satisfied to ever shut their mouths.

Does anybody else remember when there was a guest host on Rush's show (I think it was Walter Williams, but it might have been Thomas Sowell), where a liberal caller phoned in, and stated that we NEEDED an activist court, like when the Supreme Court overturned slavery in the "Dread Scott" case? The host was somewhat stunned, and gave the caller a chance to restate his assertion... When he realized that the guy had EVERYTHING WRONG in his assertion, he didn't spend too much time making fun of him, but let his ignorance speak for itself.

"Ouch! If Franken had any shame it should have kicked in. But proving that he truly is clueless Al told the Post, "I think I got under his skin a little.""

Typical of leftists, Franken appears satisfied to be of the heckler genre, rather persuasive or thought provoking.
