Only reason to gamble online is to bet on sports, which is not easy to do locally for many people. But I don't understand online poker either. Half the fun of poker is drinking beer and smoking a cigar with your buddies, and how do you do that online? You call that poker?!
Yeah, I decided to just leave that one alone.
That is why we smoke cigars and drink beer in our HOMES. We live in a private community, and the longest drive (zero traffic) for any one of us is less than a mile away. LOL
The other funny thing is that most states run the biggest scam in all gambling...lotteries...Where the house "juice" is about 40%.People play for a 100K jackpot when the odds on some games are a 1,000,000/1.
State Lotteries are the biggest scam around, 2nd to horse racing. Whenever you get the government involved in gambling, it's always a bad bet! Plus they promote it everywhere - TV, radio, etc. And generally the people who lose the most money on lotteries are the really poor people who are on welfare and can least afford it. Hmmmm....
Even the worst game at a casino, roulette, only has about a 5% house advantage. With poker, at least you have a chance, unless you are a really, really bad card player, since you are usually playing against other players who also think they are better than they really are!
Las Vegas was built by losers.

You,you, you don't mean me do ya?
Texas: -27
Total points (Over/under): 69
Texas Team Total (for the game): 46 1/2 (-115)
Texas A&M Total (for the game): 21 (-115)
That's what your FReeper FRiends are for - all you have to do is ask.
You and I understand this, but unfortunately a lot of gamblers don't.
I have fun and won't let it interfere with paying bills, goals for saving money and investing toward my retirement.
But I've known people who've gambled away everything from rent money to their life's savings. It can really become an addiction, ruins lives and sucks a lot of money out of the local economy really fast.
No, I was poking fun at myself, I do really bad at poker;-)
You're probably right.
me too everytime I lose I blame the other bad poker players,I'm a converted democrat.

I've known people who've spent what I consider to be excessive sums on their cars, on their boats, on sports memorabilia, and on stamp collecting. You and I might think these people are devoting way too much income to these hobbies... but it's not our decision to make. We live in a free society, and people should be free to make their own choices, even if they're bad ones.
and sucks a lot of money out of the local economy really fast.
If you're talking about offshore gambling, you are correct... and the solution is to legalize gambling in the United States. But if you're talking about someone gambling away his money in this country, that doesn't suck a dime out of the local economy.
The federal government "we're here to protect you from your immoral behavior." Your tax dollars at work.
In that case, so was the Warner Brothers empire... losers who paid good money for a theater ticket and got nothing in return. Except for a couple of hours of entertainment, and what's that worth?
I have a serious peeve with smug bastards who think they're better than gamblers, that gamblers are automatically stupid or automatically ignorant. I'm sure you have a hobby, and I'm sure you spend money on it. How is that any different from someone who plays blackjack, knowing full well that every dollar he puts on the table will come back as 99 cents?
