I do shop at 2 am at Walmarts sometimes though:')

You and me both (though mine is more like 6am).....I need to buy groceries, bigtime (I'm out of eggs!) but I won't do it until either very late tonight or very early tomorrow.

Sad when you have to plan your 'basic' shopping to avoid the seasonal insanity.

I agree. I won't go back next year. My big (6'10'') hubby will go. He went to Best Buy because a woman was robbed last week of an xbox. Best Buy hired police as security. I don't usually go to these Friday shoppping extravaganzas!

My Mother-in-Law used to tell war stories of her Gimbel sale days-at least 50 years ago.

after he cut in line to get laptop computers
The man started arguing with people inside the store
He then started fighting with the guards

Sounds like he's one of those whack-nut, laisezz-faire, free market libertarians.
Those bozos get offended anytime you use guards to make 'em stand in line like everybody else.

Thanksgiving, I needed a few groceries too. I was just too tired when I got off work Wed, and didn't want to fight the crowds. I got up about day break. My husband is the same way and as the place started filling up, we got out of there:')

And I worked in retail sales over 20 years ago. I remember the riots caused by Cabbage Patch dolls. People are just insane.

I have nothing really against Walmart, but I nominate the one at Memorial and I-244 in Tulsa Oklahoma as the darkest, filthiest, most rat infested and poorly staffed Walmart in the nation.

I'd be willing to bet that the ones in this area (that I have been in at least) would give yours a run for its money. I swear, I wont set foot in another one until I get a hazmat suit! :P

It could probably be fun if they roped off and let a few people in at a time but you got injured.

Do you think that Jerry Springer should set up at a Walmart next year? The cops should have arrested that woman for assault! And Walmart had better not act shocked if the same thing happens next year-all this violence is now a matter of public record.I hope you feel beter soon, this is a good demonstration of the fact that civility runs pretty thin in some people, kind of like paint over dirt.

Walmart and Jerry Springer do cater to the same crowd, so it is not out of the realm of possibility.

Yeah, this isn't new. It's been happening a long time. I think there is even an old "Lucy" one.

Human nature has not changed. My Grandma used to ask us if we thought we invented sex (we were so smug and all knowing don't you know). She informed us there were plenty of 7 month babies who weighed 8 or 9 lbs in her day. She was born in 1911.

Everyone I know goes to Walmart-rich and poor. I don't know what crowd you think goes to Walmart, but I can assure you, it is eclectic.

They did that for all the sales except the LCD TV and the Computer-which were extremely popular. There were three or four people who got trampled-one was a child (not badly hurt thank God). I have a swollen knee, and I am irritated with Walmart because I went to the manager three times and warned them that there were kids in line and someone could get hurt. I didn't think it would be me. I used to work in retail in college. You are right they should have let people in slowly until the merchandise was gone. Most other stores do this.

Sorry I accidentally posted only half of my comment. A diverse group shops at Walmart for sure. I wanted to press charges. I was mad, but the Police just tossed her out. I have noted a lack of civility lately, but then I think about my Mother-in Laws's Gimbel, Macy stories and I think it was always this way.

This is an indicated field of human psychology that probably needs more study. Apparently there is a NEED to establish markets, an aspect of humanity which abolishes the myth of socialism forever.

I enjoyed your well-reasoned comments. Out of curiosity, what is your profession or eduction?

That's scary. Yesterday, I took my 4 y/o granddaughter to Disney on Ice. I bought tickets on line and got there early. We still had to stand in line. They only opened a few doors. It's wasn't bad though. Coming out was really concerning. They only had the front entrance open . I think they wanted all these kids walking past the toys. Anyway, it was elbow to elbow. If there had been a panic, a bunch of little kids would have got run over. I stayed ready to grab mine and pick her up. Walmart "midnight madness" sells are no place for babies, IMO

No one is stopping you from yelling "Fire!" in a crowded theatre.

How you can claim a right to tell others not to yell "Fire!" in a crowded theatre. What do you have against the First Amendment anyway?
