Iraq War Vet Spat On, Called Baby Killer
Sunday, November 27, 2005 | Kristinn

Over the course of the eight months of the D.C. Chapter's Friday night demonstrations in support of our troops recuperating at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, we've been fortunate to be able to able to speak with many soldiers and hear their thoughts about the war and those who protest against it.

Recently, one soldier shared his stories with us of his experiences with those opposed to the war. To preserve his privacy from vindictive leftists, I'm leaving out details that might help them identify him.

The soldier told us of returning to a stateside civilian airport last year in uniform. Most of the time, he said, he and his fellow soldiers are greeted warmly, regardless of politics.

However, this time he was approached by a man who berated his service. The soldier responded with what is a standard statement, that he was fighting for the man's right to make such comments.

The man replied by spitting on the soldier.

A police officer witnessed the exchange and promptly intervened. He arrested the man for assault and took him away.

This month, while the soldier was staying at Walter Reed, he ventured out with four of his buddies for a relaxing evening at a local establishment.

A man approached the obviously wounded soldier and called him a "baby killer." The soldier responded by telling the man that he was fighting for his right to say things like that.

The man replied by shoving the soldier hard in the chest with both hands.

The soldier instinctively defended himself and decked the man with one punch.

As the man lay on the floor, five of his friends approached the wounded soldier to take him and his four buddies on.

Foolishly, they failed to recognize the group of eight Marines and Air Force personnel also hanging out in the joint who had been watching the wounded soldier's back.

It was all over very quickly. The manager asked everyone to leave, but he made a point of thanking the military men for their service to our country.

I agree totally, BTW my husband told me of the Russian tanks captured at Ben Het (my spelling lol) A friend of mine from high school was a tanker and was there when they captured them- so yeah the Russians were sure helping N.Vietnam and if your dad heard them talking- well they were doing more than supplying equipment. I've had others tell me they sighted or otherwise knew Russians were in Vietnam.

Strange the things that they hid from the public then and strange the things they want to hide now. Definately an agenda. You are so right about the motives of the left and so many are just their useless idiots who would probably be the first to be disposed of if the left gets total power.

The Prof is pretty safe in his offer and knows it, because it was a different world then, those things weren't reported to the police- the spitter either ran away or got his butt kicked and that was the end of it.

I would bet very few of our soldiers even now would make a report of an incident like that- it's a shame really though because the left will once again say it never happened if there is not proof.

Far left moonbats like those described here sure don't care if the baby killing is done by Mohammedan goon squads. That's OK with them. I hate the left so much I can't describe my anger at them. God bless all our warfighters.

...excellent as all your work...(nice profile of the President). Would be interesting to know just how much involvement the former USSR has had in Iraq... I know that overwhelming amounts of military equipment made in China, France & Russia have been recovered. Maybe some of what we still don't know about the pull out from Vietnam, relates to what we still don't know about Iraq...

Grampa Dave said:
"One can hope that the Air Force guys were AF Special Forces. I have a couple of friends who served in Laos and areas around Nam during that war as AF SF's. These guys are in their 60's now, and a couple of them would take care of 5 left wing a$$holes in about a minute."

Hooray!! Pippin, I can indeed relate the story of how my husband was greeted in October of 1968 when he returned after a year of fun and games in Southeast Asia!

From January 1962 until June 1966, he was stationed at Eielson AFB, 30 miles south of Fairbanks, Alaska.
Skipping over all the fun those years were..:), I relate the last year there, he went through extensive training in hand to hand combat skills - thus was the forerunner of your correct description of AF Special Ops, Grampa.
Graduation required singlehandedly taking on 5 men at once, and beating them all.

Fast forward to a year at Myrtle Beach AFB and then assignment to Tahkli AFB on the Thailand border with Vietnam, where he was a "Strike Team Leader," with 6 to 12 men under him.
Tahkli was the base for the then new F-111s, and their primary duty was securing the airfield perimeter for their takeoffs and landings. In addition, they routinely patrolled the small villages around it, with the locals pointing out "strangers" (communist infiltrators) remaining among them - and 'dealt with them.'

When infiltrating, they of course had no supply lines and took every resource (food, livestock, etc.) the village had, and always singled out anyone in authority/educated for torture or worse. Even more horrible, did so to their children/grandchildren, to create fear and "cooperation" in the future.

In that era McNamara cleverly created "no paper trail" TDY's, so he could with a straight face report to the USA and Congress there were "X" thousand of our troops in Vietnam - a flat out LIE, since at any given time, troops actually 'stationed' in Thailand, Laos, etc. were choppered into Nam to help with the hot spots, and never included in the cooked figures.
My husband thus took his teams into the Tet Offensive battles, and Da Nang, as examples of just some of his his "R&Rs"

Then there was the 30-minute notice to board with his men to be choppered into NORTH Vietnam to confirm a downed F-111 had no survivors, and had self-destructed as it was programmed, to leave no clues for the enemy of its workings.
My, what a fun 3 days THAT was for them, before being extracted.....

After a year, quite literally plucked from the jungles for a flight to Bangkok and a charter flight home, aboard the plane the stewardesses tried to warn them about the sentiment in the States.

With about 200 of them debarking in San Francisco, all in uniform to qualify for Standby Rates - my husband having to fly to Dallas and then Columbia, SC where I waited for him - they were greeted by a lineup of Flower Children, chanting and screaming and yes - calling them Baby Killers...

One gal DID literally spit in B's face, and his "reflexive action" was to take her arm and snap it over his leg.

Without a spoken word, the men behind him all reached out and took the children to the rest room, Airport Security smiling and looking the other way!
In the next few minutes, they were given a
Lesson in "Thou Shalt Not Spit in Public 101"..:))
Security gave the military men thumbs up, and after they had dispersed, THEN called for the Police to come clean it up, having *NO* idea how the mess happened - LOL

It got just as bad, however, for him. Aboard both flights to get across country, the stewardesses DEMANDED he sit at the VERY REAR of the plane "so he wouldn't upset the civilians."

He called to tell me he would fly out of Dallas to Columbia sometime the next day, and I left our children with my sister and anxiously camped out ALL DAY at the airport.
Planeload after planeload came - no B...and around 4:30 p.m. the last flight in from Dallas arrived....again, almost 200 persons debarked and I was crestfallen, thinking I'd have to spend the next day the same way.

Last came the stewardess, and trailing alone far behind her was MY HERO - - - yeah, America - whatta way to hurt them and all of us who waited for them.....

Thanks, Grandpa Dave for confirming my often described on FR his AF Special Ops status back then...

Assigned next to Charleston AFB, he opted out in July 1969 rather than return to Southeast Asia, as was in the works for him.

Happy to say he had successful retail management years after that, and will be 70 next week.

Happy and proud Marine here - over and out..:))

I had to direct some heavy crane work outside San Antonio a couple of weekends ago. One of the labors and one of the riggers were Iraqi war Vets.

I bought everybody lunch. They thanked me.

I thanked them.

It made their day as well as mine.

Baby Killer?? Why that's GREAT in the eyes of a leftist!
They could just think of the soldiers as planned parenthood employees!!!!

Oh wait, I guess it depends on who's babies are dying.

They were almost never affiliated with Left wing militants who scorned them like the plague unless they could provide rock and bottle throwing efforts at demonstrations.

Cowards all.

The leftists haven't changed.

I graduated high school in the late '70s. There was no reason to join and Hanoi Kerry & Fonda were in their heyday.

I am too old to serve, but always thank every Vet that I meet. Too little too late, but the best that I can do.

It upsets me to think about any generation of our veterans being mistreated. One way for freepers and lurkers who live in the DC area, or who are visiting DC, to support this generation of veterans is to attend the Friday night Walter Reed counter-protests of the despicable Code Pink troophaters. It helps the Walter Reed patients' morale to know that we're on their side and we support them and their mission.

I've seen Nam vets get teary standing outside WR as they recall what they and their buddies went through. They say not this time, not to these heroes.

If attending the WR freeps is impossible for you, then do your best to support the troops in other ways (cards, care packages, whatever).

The soldier Kristinn refers to has noticed the freepers standing outside WR and he was glad to see us there.

Thanks for reading.

Been there, done that, had lots of t-shirts.

An unknown origin quote states:"If you're not a liberal when you're 25, you have no heart. If you're not a conservative by the time you're 35, you have no brain."

The point being, liberals/leftists aren't the brightest bulbs in the lamp, but being one early helps make one a better conservative.

You know that if everyone did somthing like this everyday, or even once a week, the msn would not be able to keep it quite. Small acts of kindness always make their mark, plus its a lot of fun watching people, when they are caught unaware.

Thanks for sharing the story of your warrior, an AF SpecOps man.

Those were grim years for all of us in uniform both active duty and in the reserves. My BIL came back from his year in Nam with the Big Red One. He called his brother from Seattle to meet him at O Hare with civilian clothes from shirt to jeans, white socks and basketball shoes.

In his case the stewardesses kept him and a couple of other returnees on the plane after it landed and got their civilian clothes from their relatives and friends and had them change in the airplane. They put their uniforms in shopping bags for them and trashed their military shoes and hats so they wouldn't be seen with them. He was told by the ticket agent in Seattle to call home and have a relative or friend to bring the clothes to the terminal and give them to one of the flight attendants.

We will not allow this to happen to our warriors as they return from the middle east.

Indeed, indeed.

I'm old enough to remember the anti-war crowd spitting on our guys during the Vietnam war. No more.

This time around, the soldiers need to declare war on the leftists. No more explanations, just a good beating.

Forgive me if I sound savage, but for too long, we have had to tolerate these antics in the name of "free speech".

Reminds me of a drunken liberal woman who sauntered up to a Marine major in whites at a pre-ball cocktail hour in a lounge demanding to trade head butts if he was so tough. As he glanced around at his peers and adjacent couples so as to signify he hadn't invited this type of assault, the woman proceded to butt him in his head, while splashing his cabernet over his whites. He simply responded, quietly, by stating it was his turn, smiling and asking her to look up. She did and one simple pop with his head to her chin and out went the lights, her eyes rolled up and she collapsed, but he caught her so her head wouldn't hit the ground. By that time, local cops came in about to arrest him, when all the female witnesses in the area went loose pointing and accusing the woman with amazing foul language and they hauled her off instead. The most aggravating part of it was having to replace a set of $550 dress whites.
