Iraq War Vet Spat On, Called Baby Killer
Sunday, November 27, 2005 | Kristinn

Over the course of the eight months of the D.C. Chapter's Friday night demonstrations in support of our troops recuperating at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, we've been fortunate to be able to able to speak with many soldiers and hear their thoughts about the war and those who protest against it.

Recently, one soldier shared his stories with us of his experiences with those opposed to the war. To preserve his privacy from vindictive leftists, I'm leaving out details that might help them identify him.

The soldier told us of returning to a stateside civilian airport last year in uniform. Most of the time, he said, he and his fellow soldiers are greeted warmly, regardless of politics.

However, this time he was approached by a man who berated his service. The soldier responded with what is a standard statement, that he was fighting for the man's right to make such comments.

The man replied by spitting on the soldier.

A police officer witnessed the exchange and promptly intervened. He arrested the man for assault and took him away.

This month, while the soldier was staying at Walter Reed, he ventured out with four of his buddies for a relaxing evening at a local establishment.

A man approached the obviously wounded soldier and called him a "baby killer." The soldier responded by telling the man that he was fighting for his right to say things like that.

The man replied by shoving the soldier hard in the chest with both hands.

The soldier instinctively defended himself and decked the man with one punch.

As the man lay on the floor, five of his friends approached the wounded soldier to take him and his four buddies on.

Foolishly, they failed to recognize the group of eight Marines and Air Force personnel also hanging out in the joint who had been watching the wounded soldier's back.

It was all over very quickly. The manager asked everyone to leave, but he made a point of thanking the military men for their service to our country.

In an odd sort of way I feel sorry for the man who shoved the Marine. Don't you have to be totally insane or suicidal to shove a Marine just back from a war?

Iraq War Vet Spat On, Another assaulted and Called Baby Killer -- So it begins again. This time though I get the feeling that it's not going to tolerated. In these instances it wasn't. I do like the happy ending on these two instances.

Love it :-)

If I see one person attack a Vet, then they are going to be in a world of hurt.

Kristinn! I can't believe you're not ready to kill each and every one of these protestors on a daily basis. You're a MUCH better woman than I am.

I've been spit at too, while in uniform. I was in my Class A uniform and was near the UW Madison Campus. It was during Operation Desert Storm and I was going to the Capitol to testify before the Wisconsin Senate in support for funding for military families. Of course, since parking is a b*tch in Madison, I ended up hoofing it a few blocks to the Capital. Some young punk decided he'd spit on me, even after I greeted him cordially as we passed one another on the street. He missed, but the sentiment was real enough.

He ran away like the p*ssy he was after he did it, too.

God Bless You! We vets appreciate your efforts in this area. :)

The beauty of this episode is that it is in such stark contrast with what happened in the Vietnam sub-war of the Cold war.

The Leftists gained oligopoly in the media then, strong enough to pull a media coup (watergate) on an elected president, and later on an elected governor (Mecham ? sp) in Arizona. Now, their oligopoly is broken, and they are no longer strong enough for them to get away with this type of insanity.

Kristinn, I'm a better woman than you--LOL. (Note, Kristinn is a guy!)

This story is so good, and I'm sure the men and women at Walter Reed are glad to have you on their side.

Many thanks for telling us this wonderful story of valor among our troops. I hope there will always be such a happy ending every time someone pulls this stuff!
