War protesters pack up, leave
CNN & AP ^ | November 27, 2005

Posted on 11/27/2005 11:21:51 PM PST by West Coast Conservative

Dozens of war protesters packed up their tents and left their campsite in a field near President Bush's ranch Sunday, vowing to return during Easter for a third vigil if U.S. troops are still in Iraq.

The weeklong protest, which coincided with Bush's Thanksgiving holiday visit to his ranch, drew about 200 people. It was a continuation of the August demonstration led by California mother Cindy Sheehan, whose son Casey died in Iraq last year during combat.

Protesters credit the summer vigil, which they say attracted some 12,000 people over the 26 days, with shifting American sentiment about the war. They said they returned to keep pressure on Bush to end the war, although they knew turnout would be lower during the holidays.

"This is part of a permanent action that is going to keep happening," said Beatriz Saldivar, whose nephew Daniel Torres died in Iraq in February. "It's powerful that we come here in his backyard and we say, `Enough."'

A few Bush supporters gathered again Sunday in the Crawford Coffee Station parking lot, where a store marquee read: "You are home. We support you. Happy Thanksgiving."

One Bush supporter had signs -- "Score: Cindy, 3. USA, 403" -- referring to House Republicans' recent vote on a nonbinding resolution to pull out the troops from Iraq. It was rejected 403-3.

Before leaving town Sunday, the group of about 50 war protesters held an interfaith service at the Crawford Peace House.

They also planted a tree at their campsite, a private lot about a mile from Bush's ranch. The landowner who let demonstrators use the property the last few weeks of the August vigil has leased it to them through next year. Before last week's protest, the group had water and electricity installed.

If there were "dozens" there, they were all reporters.

Do these people actually think anyone cares about their little gatherings or what they think?
Most of those people just show up to these hippie gatherings because they know its an easy lay.

Yeah, I noticed that too. It went from '12,000 people over 26 days' last time to "dozens" this time. And they spin it as a great victory. Cindy doesn't even amount to a polyp on the anus of history.

I noticed that CNN's article said that the landowner had *leased* the land to them; earlier reports had it as the landowner allowing them to use the land for free.

Now I'm really starting to wonder.

Dwindling interest... the caravan has moved on and Jihad Cindy has found a disturbing lack of interest in her crusade. The Left abandoned the dog and pony show the moment it became apparent she could nothing more for them. Ain't that sweet.

Not only that, the landowner/landowners get free electricity lines installed as well as water, not to mention a free tree and free hippy patty fertilizer to make the pastures green up right pretty next spring.

I thought she was going to chain herself to the white house fence? What ever happened to that? I was actually for that one. I had my bread crumbs ready to feed the pidgeons and everything.

The landowner could have leased the land to them for a dollar where they didn't get arrested for squatting.

So, she'll be back Easter. Wonder if that means we won't hear anymore from her until then or is she going to continue to pop up.

Another Item For Which To Give Thanks

The Cindy Sheehan Traveling Road Show appears to have lost its steam, according to multiple sources this weekend. The protest camp shut itself down outside the Bush ranch in Crawford, TX this afternoon after drawing less than 200 protestors over the holidays -- Power Line has a picture of Sheehan waiting for people to come sign her book on Saturday.   The only reason the Left has dropped Sheehan is because of her speaking out against Hillary Clinton  After the thousands that thronged to "Camp Casey" -- which Sheehan has now leased from the Crawford farmer for all of 2006 for more of such spectacles -- the turnout for the fall version of the protest shows that Sheehan has come to 14:59 of her allotment of fame.   Cindy is now  a footnote in the last chapter. The Media is on to the "We, Democrats are responsible for the troop withdrawl. And, any Iraqi success stories are because of us as well, btw." chapter. Comments (18)

Our local TV station reported there were a hand full of protesters..It showed the site being torn down and also said that the hippie's(well that is my word for the bums) that live in Crawford gave the traitors 20,000 dollars for the protesters..I just wonder where that money came from they couldn't even pay their electric bill last year..From what people I did talk to in Crawford told me that Michael Moore bailed these bums out so I would bet it was Michael Moores money that payed for the protest that never happened..

The largest crowd that protested were the Ethiopians but they were not with the Sheehan crowd..And they also support President Bush not like the bums for Sheehan.. Oh and btw Cindy Sheehan said she will be back to Crawford at Easter time..I guess she is afraid of the winters here in Central Texas.

Here comes Cindy Cottontail
Clumpin' down the Crawford trail
Clumpity, thumpity
Easter's on its way

Bringin' every girl and boy
A basketful of peace and cloy
Jello beans for Weasley Clark
Yellow peeps for Galloway

Falafel for Mikey Moore
And dove eggs for his sis
Pecans for Uncle Murtha
Easter bonnet for cousin Chris

When you wake up Easter morning
You'll know that she is there
In solitary splendor
'Cause Hillary said "Beware"

There goes Cindy Cottontail
Hopping from the Crawford trail
Clumpity, thumpity
Clumpy Easter Day
