The Lions are cursed.
If only they could fire Ford as well.
Like no one could see that coming....
Arrivederci, Mariucci!........
Of course nothing will ever change as long as Ford is the owner. What decent coach would ever want to coach in Detroit, it's where coaching careers go to die.
The Lions are cursed..........by their fans........
Herm Edwards should be toast also.
They need to fire Harrington, too. He sucks.
We haven't had a QB since Bobby Layne (before I was even born).
Its NOT Mooches fault! Tell the Ford family to sell the team to people that want to WIN. Millen is the biggest problem of all in that organization.
Tell that to Scotty Bowman.
"Lions do not fire Steve Mariucci"
Bring on the next huge disappointment!
Maybe they'll resign Mooch as starting quarterback.
I don't know about that...
Herm has had to use FIVE different QB's this season. And the Jets have other major injuries on top of that.
NO ONE could win with that kind of luck.
I heard Edwards might replace Vermeil in KC when Vermeil retires. No coach can overcome the kinds of injuries the Jets have had this year.
Different sport. But then again, has Bowman coached since leaving the Red Wings? :)
Think Jimmy Johnson might leave his warm climate Miami home for Detroit if the $$$$ was big???
Agreed, Edwards is a good coach.
Mariucci should be right behind Jay Feely in the unemployment line today.
What are the Tigers doin' in the off season? Maybe their SS could play.........
He was an idiot for drafting two wide receivers with the top picks in the draft two years in a row. I knew they would not make the Lions appreciably better and sure enough...
What has mooch done since his memorable description of the lions after their second preseason game (mauling) with the rams - "I am Alarmed"? For someone who was "Alarmed", he did n o t h i n g to change the equation since that day. Same team, same plays, same attitude as that bromoseltzer morning after a monday night football nightmare.
The rumor was hot and heavy that he would come to Arizona State.
He is a Pac 10 guy and wants to do college. ASU has the bucks, the facilities and the talent.
I would have cut Jay Feely immediately after the game..
True but Herm Edward is atrocious at challenging calls, clock management and other seemingly minuscule details that always snowball into game breakers that kill the Jets.
I could see that happening, I think Mooch could be a decent college coach.
We've got a coach for ya, a real blue-light special!
Hey, leave Matt alone. He is a nice man.
Real coaches die for the Arizona Cardinals!
Denny Green will be part of a long heritage along with Buddy Ryan and Joe Bugel, Vince Tobin and 8 or 9 others in the last 25 years.
I'm sure Matt is a nice man, but he isn't getting the results. I really though it would have worked out with him, I gave him the benefit of the doubt, but no more.
I think they need to draft another WR. Or maybe deal some of their defensive players for TO.
LOL, that should be the Lions motto, "Hey, at least we aren't the Cardinals."
Well, we went from nearly beating LSU and USC to falling apart.
We got a bowl, but its a bottom runger.
Our coach settles for mediocre and he has NEVER won a game in the state of California.
Does anyone even want to live in Detroit, let alone play or coach there.
I think Matt should have chosen a better coach. Hell, at this point, he should coach the team himself.
I'm a native Arizonian, living in OH, but I marvel at how bad the Cards are, year in and year out. It's amazing that they just can't get any better. And Kurt Warner????? Puh-lease.
When I travel, I say "I'm from Phoenix, we don't have a professional football team, just the Cardinals"
I am, however a very long time fan of the Seahawks. And I am very happy this year.
Good point on the clock management thing.
I've seen a few games where he was definitely asleep at the switch... The question is whether he was merely letting the time run out on the inevitable loss...
I say give him another chance.
Does this mean the honeymoon is over?
he is a mediocre quarterback....not terrible..... but, even a good quarterback cannot perform without an offensive line..................

Millen should be next, then Bill Ford.

I read somewhere awhile back the the rotating door of coaches in the NFL turns at a predictable cycle. Statistically, the cycle would currently suggest 13 head coaching changes will occur this offseason. Seems high to me, I could see 8 tops. On top of which, how much new talent is out there?
Lions, Jets, Texans, Chiefs (Vermiel retires), Packers, Vikings, Niners, Rams, (S)aint's.
At least there's the Red Wings and Auburn Hills Pistons.
