"Would it be alright to try to deport the ones that are not working? Pew states about half of illegals don't work at all."

Anyone here illegally should be deported when detected or caught. And to me it doesn't matter who catches them. An employer, prospective employer, schools, hospitals, banks, SSA, DMV, police, etc. Once they're known to be here illegally, they should be turned over to the immigration authorities and deported. And if they're here on some kind of work visa or permit and are not working, then I don't see why they shouldn't be deported.

"There are 3.6 million visa overstays in this country that the "system" can't locate. I'm not confident this bureaucracy will be any better at enforcing a new plan."

My guess is there's not enough money allocated for the resources necessary to do the job. In other words, has not been a priority item.

Texas is talking about unionizing low paying jobs, which may or may not be a deterent to illegals.
