Teresa Heinz Kerry has lashed out against the "scoundrels and "sunshine patriots who have criticized Rep. John Murtha for calling for an immediate redeployment of U.S. troops in Iraq.
"The orchestrated assault on Murtha should alarm us all, the Heinz family heiress wife of Sen. John Kerry writes in an opinion piece carried by the Johnstown (Pa.) Tribune-Democrat.
"Just when you thought the debate could sink no lower, the politicians committed to staying the course in Iraq turned the fire hoses of smear and intimidation on this icon of national security.
"They said he had given aid and comfort to the enemy. They accused him of abandoning the troops. And one rookie representative, the most junior member of the House, so lost any decency or sense of decorum that she called Murtha a coward.
Ohio Republican Jean Schmidt attacked Murtha, saying that "cowards cut and run, Marines never do. She later said she should have rephrased her critique of the Pennsylvania Democrat.
A U.S. field commander in Iraq countered Murthas calls for withdrawal of Americans fighting there, while Democrats declined to back his view.
Even Hillary Clinton called Murthas exit plan a "mistake.
But Heinzs attack on Murthas critics was relentless. Pointing out that Murtha the first Vietnam veteran elected to Congress has "impeccable national security credentials and has demonstrated "unwavering patriotism, she writes:
"That is Jack Murthas history, and the summer soldiers and the sunshine patriots who attack him cannot rewrite it. That is why they resort instead to the most reprehensible type of personal attacks.
Heinz even compares attacks on Murtha to criticism of her husband John Kerry, who "suffered the slings and arrows of distortions, half-truths and falsehoods during his run for the White House.
Heinz writes: "Scoundrels who would stifle debate and smear dissenters weaken our democracy and diminish our nations ability to make decisions and change course when circumstances demand.
"Murtha has earned our respect. His right to speak out is an intrinsic component of our democracy. It should be honored.
Among those who have rejected Murthas call for withdrawal and said the U.S. should remain in Iraq and not "abandon the Iraqis is a leading member of his own party, Sen. Joe Lieberman.
Too bad she saw fit to apologize.
Now that the wife of the ketchup slurping gigolo has a taste for political diatribe, perhaps she'll consider a run for the senate where she can join her ally, Hillary.
Shut up and eat yer raisins, Mrs Kerry!
No Teresa, nine gin-laden white raisins a day, not each hour.
Deja vu. Isn't this her diatribe about Cleland and even her own husband?
I love that the dems are re-running the 2004 campaign. Please, by all means, keep bringing these losers forward. Can we get a Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh, from Mr. Dean thrown in for good measure?
I was about to ask which one: John or Teresa?
Teresa, tell Murtha to stop "Kerrying" the troops.
I think she should shut her pie hole about the war and stick with complaining about how all her fellow African Americans are being mistreated.
Well, wanting an immediate pullout in Iraq is what the TERRORISTS want, so I'd say that's giving aid and comfort to the enemy and abandoning the troops who want to finish the job.
And one rookie representative, the most junior member of the House, so lost any decency or sense of decorum that she called Murtha a coward.
It would be nice if Ms. "Let-Them-Run-Around-Naked" would get the facts straight. The junior representative was QUOTING a marine who wanted her to get this message to Mr. Murtha and it was the Marine who said "Cowards cut and run, Marines never do".
Guess that shoe thrown in the pack of rats REALLY hit a lot of 'em, eh?
The MSM can't get enough on the GOP and the current administration, so they are left with grasping for straws and shadow boxing.
Murtha is an icon of defense spending, not national security since, when we actually have to fight, he doesn't seem to want to do it.
"They accused him of abandoning the troops."
Uh, nooo, they actually "accused" your husband (Mr. excitement) of doing that circa 1971. But you'd have remembered that if you weren't a pill-popping lush - with a wtf kind if accent is that anyway?, wouldn't ya'...
Why not?
If the Dems want to go back in their time machine I'll indulge them right down to the Nov.2 2004 results.
I welcome this latest move, making Kerry and his wife the leaders of the Party. It worked well for us last time. :-D
"The orchestrated assault on Murtha should alarm us all,
The last five years' "orchestrated assault" on Pres. Bush has been a little annoying, too, Thereeeeeza.
Swift boating murtha? Was murtha in cambodia with john-john? The fact that a man is a war veteran does not mean that they are forever correct in their future opinions. Want examples? mcpain, murtha, kerrie, cunningham, reid, scott ritter, wes clark and the list goes on. We can respect the fact that they served their Country and disagree with their views.
icon of national security - to be honest, I had never heard of the guy
The distortions, half-truths and falsehoods were simply a case of chickens coming home to roost. It describes his military record perfectly.
She doesn't need anymore raisins soaked in gin...she's overdosed already. She's either soused or stupid...I'm not sure which?!!
I, for one, am glad that Teresa got out of re-hab just in time to defend Rep. Murtha's reputation as a warhawk. My goodness, she seems confused and angry in her diatribe, and I fear that she needs to be put back in the rubber room as soon as she sobers up again!
Sunshine Patriots? People supporting an unpopular war are now sunshine patriots? I'll see you sunshine patriot and raise you the ultimate summertime sailor.
Well, since a "got hers" rich has-been gold digger,
drunken lush of a piece of trash says so...i guess
i *gotta* believe it.
she was simply repeating what a current marine had told her!
THWHeinz: Buy `Red Gold' ketchup!
Thank you. Thank you very much.

I doubt it's her diatribe at all; she's probably too sloshed to care one way or the other...a fellow moonbat wrote it for her IMO.
My guess is both.
The fact that some rag gives her editorial space, and her opinions are carried by the MSM as something of merit, is the real cause for alarm...
Tahrayza is a waste of skin!
She was quoting a constituent, exactly what reps are supposed to do,voice of the people....she should have NEVER apologized
All that French wine she bought up at fire sale
prices right after "Fredo" lost, and the French
wine industry was turning millionsof bottles into
vinegar, because they couldn't sell it....
If Heinz/Kerry lost every dime and stood in a barrel in the street, nobody would give her the time of day. Well, Kerry would ditch her, too. What was it his daughters called her? Moneybags?

Theresa doesn't even know what the definition of sunshine patriot is. Her husband fits the defintion better than any Republican she is whining about. If less than 200 soldiers had died in Iraq by now, he would be bragging about how much he supported deposing Saddam.
Every time the 'Rats run into the truth, it leaves an awful mark, doesn't it?
" Pointing out that Murtha the first Vietnam veteran elected to Congress has "impeccable national security credentials and has demonstrated "unwavering patriotism, she writes:"
In my book, unwavering patriotism is not to :
Trash the troops as losers,
the root cause of terrorism,
destabilizers of the Mideast,
violators of the Geneva Convention,
they throw innocent Iraqis out of their homes,
the wives at Walter Reed are so repulsed they cannot look at their disfigured husbands,
liars ,
the enemy
catalysts for violence
and occupiers of Iraq.
Meet the Press Transcript Nov 20, 2005,
Murtha , the floor of the House, Fri Nov 18,
The NewsHour Nov 17,2005
Murtha speech , Nov 17,2005
I am hoping to hear more on this and similar matters. Murtha is a guy who was very big on getting money for defense contracts, but he wanted to pull out of Somalia and now he wants to pull out of Iraq. It appears he wants to build a defense he does not actually wish to use. I am very suspicious of Mr. Murtha.
