Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said he would consider granting clemency to convicted killer Stanley Tookie Williams, the Crips gang co-founder who became an anti-gang activist while in prison.
The governor said Friday he would meet Dec. 8 in a private hearing at his Sacramento office with Williams' lawyers, Los Angeles County prosecutors and others involved.
Schwarzenegger, vested with constitutional authority to grant mercy and commute a death sentence to life without parole, is not legally obligated to hold a public or private hearing, and decides clemency requests on a "case-by-case basis," said his spokeswoman, Margita Thompson.
Williams, 51, faces death by lethal injection on Dec. 13 for murdering four people in 1979 — a Whittier convenience store clerk and three people at a Pico Rivera motel less than two weeks later. He denies his guilt, and has also asked the California Supreme Court to reopen his case, alleging shoddy forensics wrongly connected him to three of the murders.

OK, I've made up my mind. Give him a new trial for the three murders, after we execute him for the fourth. Fair enough?
Because of him, there are probably tens of thousands dead, billions of dollars of societal costs, and hundreds of thousands of ruined lives.
It's the wrong clemency at the wrong time in the wrong state. Don't do it Arnie. Don't try and win Lib points. They will stab you in the back like they do EVERY SINGLE TIME
Arnold should meet with Tookie. Keep the camera on Tookie. A few well-asked questions will have him foaming at the mouth in rage.
Also: This caller into the radio show stated that once Tookie was imprisoned he planned an escape with another, or others, and part of the plan was to hijack a prison bus and kill the driver to escape.
When Tookie was arrested he had a big "killing" in the works.
Tookie.......don't let the door hitcha on the way out.
Thanks, I was not looking for more information. I don't need to know about every murder on death row in CA or other states. And really it matters how the governor of the particular state sees these cases, not me.
I was just saying no matter what the facts, Arnold should make up his mind on the facts. Trying to placate Dims or the MSM never works for GOP office holders.
Tookie's victims received no appeal or clemency hearing. Tookie should only be asked which method he prefers for the sole purpose of using the other method.
What's the Vegas line on this? One might be able to make some serious dough on the Tookie vs Schwarzennedy bout.

the prosecutor has a good web page that goes into detail about Mr. Williams. His behavior (including threatening jurors and a planned prison break that would have included mass murder) is extremely sociopathic.

the plan involved killing everybody on the bus. he was going to blow it up with dynamite to cover up who had escaped.
if you look at the actual evidence, the decision is pretty clear-cut. It only makes logical sense to grant clemency in this case if you think all sociopathic, repeat murderers should get clemency.
So many folks so quick to jump the gun on this one!
I won't criticize Schwarzenegger until after he makes his decision & after I read his statement for his reasoning (I assume he'll issue one either way).
