Kennedy Appointment is Outrageous
California Republican Assembly ^ | 11-30-2005 | Mike Spence, President of the California Republican Assembly

Posted on 11/30/2005 6:12:08 PM PST by Amerigomag

The appointment of Susan Kennedy as Chief of Staff to the Governor is a betrayal of the hard working activists that supported the Governor during the recent special election. Kennedy has a track record as an active partisan Democrat that has worked contrary to Republican candidates and beliefs.

Those of us who supported the recall of Gray Davis now find one of his top operatives, Susan Kennedy as the leader of Schwarzenegger staff. Not only did she work for Davis, but Kennedy is plagued by her involvement in the Oracle scandal.

This is a dangerous false start for the Governor, not a fresh start.

The California Republican Assembly Board of Directors will be voting on a resolution calling for the California Republican Party's withdrawal of their pre-primary endorsement of the Governor.

I just stepped back and thought for a minute.

While I think this appointment was a mistake, I also think that the MSM is playing it up for all it's worth, precisely to turn the Republicans against Arnold, so then the Dems can finish him off in 2006.

Well, I hope other Republicans and conservatives will stop and think for a minute and realize the same thing -- if we turn against Arnold, we are supporting Angelides and the Dems, because no other Republican has any chance in CA in 2006.

Arnold may not be perfect and makes mistakes, but he is still orders of magnitude better than any Dem we would end up with instead.

Funny.... The Republican electorate seems to have noses just like hunting dogs that draw them to deep piles of sh*t. This same electorate keeps demonstating and showing our "representatives" what needs to be drastically changed, but is met with deaf ears.

If only politicians would act and communicate like normal people, a helluva mess could get cleaned up. Now, we're supposed to listen, fall in line and act like these Washington yo-yo's know better about how to fix the illegal immigration problem, a problem that was denied to be in existance until Bushies poll numbers started plummeting.

Sadly, I've decided that most politicians are corrupt, and no, it is not because the MSM has put that thought in my head. It's because I've studied many and have come to that sad conclusion.

Arnold is not doing it for power. He is totally sincere in wanting to reform CA.

Nonsense. People who kiss up for power live for reciprocation. Arnold lives for adulation and all the trappings of power. I've watched it in him for over thirty years, just after he won his first Mr. Olympia title.

He is smart in business, that's how he accumulated his wealth, but he is naive, in believing that every person, even Democrats, have some good, redeaming qualities.

Trading in BS has a way of blinding you to it, FO.

Oh, get a life, this guy is screwing the republicans, he is doing this to suck up to the Dems. He doesn't care about CA anymore than her really cared about anything except what it could do for him. This woman has failed on almost every plan she ever had, she is the one who had our late great Governor, you remember him, right, Mr. Davis, recalled because of her busines plan. Get real. Arnold is caving and running scared and probably listening to his wife.

"He is totally sincere in wanting to reform CA."

And is failing miserably.

"i hoped he would have learned what Dems are all about at this last election."

He has learned nothing, just like his ardent supporters who refuse to believe what their own eyes and ears tell them.

I have admired your loyalty to your man Arnold over the past couple of years, but now it's getting silly. Cut your losses. Arnold is a quitter, a loser, and a girly man. Next, he may end up turning full traitor (by switching to his real party). Time to jump off that celebrity bandwagon and get real. There's nothing to be ashamed about - - everybody makes a mistake with a candidate they support at one time or another. It's usually because the candidate turned out to be weak.

I need to know more about her.

The following provided by calcowgirl on a similar thread:

1972: At age 12, was inspired by actress Jane Fonda's support of American Indian and free-speech causes and opposition to the Vietnam War.

1977: Lived in Lancaster, Pa., within the evacuation zone of Three Mile Island. Developed a distrust of the establishment

1979: Enrolls and subsequently drops out of Millersville State College in Pennsylvania "because she was partying too much."

1980: Moved cross country to join Jane Fonda and Tom Hayden's "Campaign for Economic Democracy," a breeding ground for political training in campaigning, fundraising and field organizing, leading to a series of jobs and becoming one of the state Democratic Party's top field organizers.

198x-1991: Executive director of the California Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League

1991-1994: Executive director of the California Democratic Party, selected by then party chairman, Phil Angelides

1992: Helped lead one of the biggest get-out-the-vote campaigns which put Feinstein in the Senate and helped put Bill Clinton in the presidency.

1993: Political director for Kathleen Brown seeking office of California Governor.

1995 to 1998: Worked as communications director to Democratic U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein.

1995: Begins program of recovery from alcohol addiction

1998: Director of the California Democratic Party's Coordinated Campaign, a grass-roots campaign effort for 1998 election.

1998: Appointed Cabinet secretary by Governor Gray Davis. She was credited with managing the Democratic governor's initiatives on child support enforcement, energy conservation and health care, among other issues. Reportedly, she promoted Gray Davis' energy plans in 2001, and issuance of $12 billion in bonds to purchase more power, warning legislators of "Armageddon." She also acted as chief negotiator in budget discussions with legislators in 2001, angering many that the Governor did not participate more. (We all know how those energy and budget matters turned out).

1999: "Married" in a Maui commitment ceremony to lesbian partner Vicki Marti, a psychotherapist. Democratic lobbyist and party operative Darius Anderson, her best friend, served as her "best man"

2001: Had an active role in approving a $96-million contract with Oracle Corp. to provide software that state managers did not want or need, an issue raised by state Sen. Tom McClintock during confirmation hearings for her 2003 PUC appointment.

2003: Appointed to a six-year term on the Public Utilities Commission by Gray Davis, with an annual salary of $114,191. Meanwhile, Gray Davis also appoints her domestic partner, Vicki Marti, to the California Medical Assistance Commission whose function it is to set hospital Medical rates--a plum job paying an annual salary of $99,000 and requiring only 2 meetings per month.

2005: Reaches her senior year in college after 13 years of part time study.

Are you an idiot in real life or do you just imitate one here at FR for fun?

He was toast when he signed on to do the deed and run in the Recall and keep the Ca dems in control here for the foreseeable future and the CA GOP party went along with it blindly. Is that too hard to follow?

Your comments about he is sincere in doing good for California is laughable at best, a real gem, at worst.

Crediting Susan Kennedy with all the Worker's Comp reform progress, my my,, you are so graceful in trying to make what little in the pile shine that you can.

But we wouldn't expect anything less from our (M)ilk at FR.

I see talking points are out..

Susan Kennedy plays well with others and has made significant contributions working for Davis and Schwarzenegger. She gets the job done. (Probably what her lady partner likes about her most as well)

It is mind-numbing to see how some blame the media for reporting what actually happens and don't even spin it, but it is still implied they are, anyway.

I await remarks from the CA GOP leadership about this latest development, not that they cared when Tamminen and Zingale were appointed, much less all the rest of the gayGReen appointess that now draw state checks and are paid for by our tax dollars to continue this state down a path of deception and moral debauchery at the expense of all of us.

I disagree, Arnold is trying to swim upstream, he may have misjudged how strong the current is, but I believe he appreciates the challenge.

You are in California... WHAT have you done?

It is the VOTERS in California, NOT Arnold, that have chosen the path to Socialism and Failure! Arnold has the Tiller of your boat but the boat is sliding in reverse, all he can do is avoid the shoals and rocks, you folks need to supply the thrust!

California just ticks me off, y'all have to figure out a way to outvote Frisco and LA. Let me know how I can help, short of moving from Texas (which has a bad habit of copying California)

Perhaps our Arndroids should take a bow.

Bustamante, electable, Governator, fiscal conservative, social moderate, blow up boxes, cut Cut CUT, Milton Friedman, live within our means, Terminator... GO ARNOLD!!!

Fools.

When this guy gets done with what his masters have in mind, the California Republican Party will be an advertising agency masquerading as a political party. But then, I'm almost certain that's exactly what Mssrs. Parsky, Sundheim, Huffington, and Riordan had in mind.

Is Arnold stupid enough to believe his own excuse?

If so, how many times will he get burned before admitting the mistake?

(You knew she was a snake when you took her in.)

Nonsense. You can't make that argument and justify his record.

Looks like it needs updating.

You are in California... WHAT have you done?

I've blown a cool half million bucks and seven years of work taking on our hopelessly corrupt environmental move-mint, of which Arnold is in it up to his cigar.

Top that.

It is the VOTERS in California, NOT Arnold, that have chosen the path to Socialism and Failure!

So California won't vote conservative? Consider the spate of recent ballot propositions:

Prop 227 English only education in public schools Passed
Prop 209 No more affirmative action in State hiring or education Passed
Prop 22 Heterosexual marriage only Passed
Prop 187 No benefits for illegal aliens Passed

Simon lost to Davis by only 325,000 votes after the most incompetent campaign in history and while being stabbed in the back by his own Party.

Don't give us ‘California is a liberal state’ until you know what you are talking about. The problem is a gerrymandered legislature, government unions, Hollywood, news mediots, and the universities, not the voters.

Let me know how I can help, short of moving from Texas (which has a bad habit of copying California)

Getting your facts straight would be much appreciated. Trading in truism has to stop.

You know, Amerigomag, I stopped waiting for the tooth fairy to fix CA politics a long time ago.

It may come as a surprise to you, but I actually worked under Jerry Brown once. That experience convinced me that I didn't want to make a career in government, but I also learned that you can still get things done even when you don't get your own way.

Kennedy sounds like she has the personal background and lifestyle of about 60% of the current state government employees in Sacramento.

California won't be structurally reformed at the polls. The election showed us that. Time for new tactics.
