Rep. John P. Murtha is continuing his assault on the Bush administration's Iraq war policy, asserting this week that the U.S. Army is "broken, worn out" and "living hand to mouth."
The Pentagon and a senior Republican senator sharply disagreed with his assessment.

Hillary must have found some pictures of Murtha fellating a young boy.
A brief note in yesterday's National Review Online:
"REP. MURTHA'S ARMY DIS [Kathryn Jean Lopez]
An e-mail from Fort Hood:
As a Captain in the Army who served in Iraq for the entire 365 days of 2004 in Iraq, I can assure you that the Army is not broken, worn out, or living hand to mouth. I would like to elaborate and respond to Congressman Murtha's comments but I doubt I could contain the 4 letter words that would flow from my fingers onto this computer. In a nutshell, these comments make me very very angry. Feel free to relay my frustration on the Corner. "
Murtha has jumped the shark.
This is beyond the pale (and the pail.)
Pelosi must've promised him a committee chair if they pull this off. If they do pull this off, then the American public deserves the horrors to come.
SECURE THE BORDERS
Your right, Murtha is a senile dog. We had a guy named McGovern who had been a WWII bomber pilot (40 Missions) and ran for president as a commie loving dove. I am always amazed that real fighters can become such viginas like he and Kennedy and others. I think that the love of power and lucre has a lot to do with it.
It is good that they have Zarqawi to use to personalize the enemy in Iraq.
Here's a link to the Johnstown Chamber of Commerce to share your thoughts on their U.S. House Representative.
Now you went and did it. The ACLU will be in court to have this removed from the Code.
One of the outstanding generals and genuine hero of the Revolutionary war was Benedict Arnold up until he put personal intrests ahead of his country.
All of which makes him another "useful idiot" for the anti-America crowd. These people place their desire for power far above the good of the nation and their "moral universe" precludes the possibility of shame - or even simple embarassment - at having their endless lies exposed for what they are. They will never STFU because their agenda calls for our downfall at any cost.
Just called it. Even though I am not in his district, the guy who answered took my comments, which were the following:
* State the evidence that made you come to this conclusion, or leave. Come to think of it, he should leave anyhow.
* Even it it were true, you are hurting our effort and our troops, and I don't care what he did in the service. He is a traitor now.
Also called my congressman (Cantor - R) and asked what are they (Republicans) going to do about it. We have one party that seems to want the terrorists to win, and another party that tries to get along with them and does nothing about it. Pathetic.
Murtha should go!!!
This is an outrage!
Really well done, and well said!!
Rep. Mothra is descibing himself - 'broken and worn out".
And John Murtha's assessment of the Army as being "broken" is based on - what? Not enough draftees? Doesn't "reflect" America? The mixed gender experiment isn't working out? The war materials are not available? Soldiers are not trained well enough?
Com' on, Jack, TELL us what's wrong. Then as a Member of Congress, DO something about it. FIX the Army. GIVE them the appropriations and authority to carry out their duties. Tell all your colleagues to get on board, and make this a joint effort to REALLY support the troops.
The tendency has been to state disagreement with the President's policies by chiseling away at the quality of our armed forces, and this is a very short-sighted policy. One of the reasons that the "Former Occupant of the Oval Office, 1993-2001" did not, could not, pursue any serious course of containing al-Qaeda during the 1990's, was that he was not sure of his leadership capability, and he knew the military was emaciated and unable to satisfactorily carry out a difficult combat assignment, as there would be no support. No matter what Wesley Clark may have been telling him.
Someone needs to challenge this guy instead of just sticking a microphone in his face and listening to his lies. He, like Pelosi (who sat on Fox yesterday and actually said this) deny any progress in Iraq. That is so far from reality that they are either deliberate liars or totally and completely incompetant.
Do you get as tired of "____ served in Vietnam" crap as I do. Why should that give them a pass for the rest of their lives? Personally don't think the people saying that are being up front with us on here what their true beliefs are.
Know some Marines that served in various Marine campaigns and they think Murtha should be brought back on duty and court martialed.
That is quite correct. Helluva fighter. Helluva traitor.
