Schwarzenegger looks to new crop of top staffers (More house cleaning)
Sacramento Bee ^ | December 2, 2005 | Gary Delsohn

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- When Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger announced at a press conference last week that he'd chosen one of his predecessors' top aides to run his staff, he did something else unusual for a California governor.

He pulled a list from his pocket of all the senior aides he said had left his administration because they were burned out, no longer felt like spending so much time away from their families or simply desired to return to the private sector and make more money.

Schwarzenegger's decision to replace outgoing Chief of Staff Pat Clarey with Susan Kennedy, a Democrat and former Gov. Gray Davis's cabinet secretary, isn't the only change taking place in the administration. The list _ and his explanation _ were Schwarzenegger's way of trying to throw cold water on the notion that he was cleaning house after a devastating election loss.

(snip)

For a governor who keeps insisting he has a clear vision and knows exactly where he wants to go, his senior staff is going to look very different in the coming weeks than it has during Schwarzenegger's first two years in office. Most of those leaving have talked openly for some time about wanting to move on after this year. With Kennedy's arrival, others uncomfortable with her politics are talking privately about making a change.

"Whether by design or not, it will look to voters as if he's making a fresh start," said Dave Lesher of the New America Foundation, a non-partisan policy institute with offices in Washington and Sacramento.

"You're going to see a lot of things this next year you didn't see this year. He will have a different approach, and all the new faces are going to be part of it."

Three high-profile names he didn't mention, Rob Stutzman, his communications chief; Peter Siggins, who has been Schwarzenegger's legal affairs secretary; and Terry Tamminen, his current cabinet secretary, are all expected to be working elsewhere in the very near future.

This is good news, assuming they don't appoint another Greenie. It seems they finally figured out that being a pool man, treehugger and being Robert F Kennedy, Jr.'s buddy doesn't qualify someone to be Cabinet Secretary.
Tamminen is expected to be replaced by someone with more day-to-day government management experience. "You have to remember, I'm someone who came in without experience in government and wanted to be of service anyway I could," said Tamminen, a longtime environmental activist. "I serve at the pleasure of the governor, and I'll do whatever he wants me to do."

Higher taxes, lots of vetoes of Republican bills. I'm just waiting for him to announce the hiring of Jerry Brown and Adriana Gianturco.

No problem. They've probably already started a new FR screenname and are developing their "conservative credentials" to spew more myths at a later date. If it ain't Arnold, they'll find some other leftist trojan horse to support. Let the games go on! LOL.

"This is good news,..."

Only if you believe it will truly lead someplace.

I don't.
