"Dear Joshua, I hope you die!" -- J. Sparling (Walter Reed patient)
Fox & Friends ^ | 12/5/05 | Mware

Posted on 12/05/2005 5:24:18 AM PST by mware

Edited on 12/05/2005 12:54:02 PM PST by Admin Moderator. [history]

This story was reported on Fox and Friends this morning.

Joshua Sparling just got to Walter Reed last week and received ONE letter from someone writing in a child's printing. Among other things it told him to die. The soldier has the card on the wall of his room. I know FReepers can counter this despicable action with some of our own letters.

Joshua Sparling

Walter Reed Army Medical Center

6900 Georgia Avenue N.W.

Washington, D.C. 20307-5001

Update: Since Joshua will undoubtedly be overwhelmed by America's response, please consider sending (instead of or in addition to Joshua) cards to these find troops:

Excerpt from Brian K. at FNC:
If you have the time, please try and include the others I met along with Col. North and Col. Hunt at Walter Reed:

Capt. James Ollinger
Sgt. Zavian Simspon
Specialist Brian Radke
Specialist Jason Braase
Sgt. David Nevins
Sgt. Jose Ramos
Cpl. Todd Bishop
Sgt. Ryan Donnelly
Sgt. Eva Diane Cochran

I try to keep the ping lists focused only on what the ping list relates to, for complete customer satisfaction.

Thanks for the ping, though.

I'm beginning to think it is an adult trying to imitate a child's handwriting. The individual letter themselves are fairly consisent and well-shaped. You would expect them to be sloppier, considering how uneven the baseline of the text is. When you can control the letters you can control the baseline, with the common exception of having writing "drift" on an angle.

Actually I never thought it was a child..More than likely an adult Muslim, figuring that if they were know to be an adult that they could get into big trouble..If it was a child then they were told to write the letter..Again,but as we know Muslim children are taught from birth to hate Americans especially American service men and women..Anyway you look at it this is a sick person that needs to be found and made to leave this country even if it is an American..

I don't know if the word was made to look like an evergreen or not. I just thought they were trying to make the word stand out "DIE"

I'm fairly sure this is an adult. The key is the uniformity of the individual letters, even the "scrunched" letters where the words close up against the right hand margin. The only errors ('dieing', the misplaced comma) seem contrived - if a child can correctly spell "soldier" he shouldn't have a problem with "dying", and he certainly shouldn't put his comma in the wrong place in the salutation.

Somebody who is trying to write like a child contrives obvious errors but overlooks the "automatic" stuff like letter formation and correctly doing more difficult tasks than the ones deliberately botched.

My money's on one of those liberal loonies that hang around outside Walter Reed oozing hate.

I never go to DU either. I have followed a few links which took me there over the last few years, but it is always a waste of time for me.

I'll let others keep an eye on that wasteland for me.

The pic of Joshua is at the link I posted in 240. I didn't want to post the photo here since it will be a drain on the guy's website.

Here's the link again.

I got on my AKO account and searched for Joshua Sparling as well as Walter J. Rausch. No results for either name. Not that that proves anything - I could have missed a step or something in entering the information. Will the real Sparling and Rausch please, well, step forward?

Here is a photo of Josh, reading to two little fellows. Ironic the kid that wrote that letter can't be more than 5 years older then them, but worlds apart in every other way.

This is a death threat. If it's a kid who wrote it, they need to be told why it's wrong. If it's an adult, send them to jail.

OK, you do not like where the administration took us but what the hell, to actually send such note to a soldier recovering .... I am sick and tired of it. What in God's name did he do to deserve such disdain? I am sick of the bad mouthing, the anger, at this point let's finish the job and once they are home then go down this road.

It is repulsive. The left harasses the soldiers, treats them criminally, but excuse Kerry's service, and lefties like him, and use it as an example to fit whatever need du jour. He was somehow different. They do not see the disparity there, the double standard. It is despicable.

My word's of support are on their way, too.

My nephew JC is back over there right now. He didn't have to go (he's an only child and could have refused a second tour), but he couldn't imagine his men going without him.

The folks on Free Republic are the greatest. I think they will be swamped with cards.
