“The Right Sort of Men” (Iraqis taking charge of their country)
National Review Online ^ | December 5, 2005 | W. Thomas Smith, Jr.

As in bombing campaigns launched prior to previous elections in that country, the insurgents have failed to break the will of the Iraqi people. And U.S. officials on the ground have been telling me that the Iraqi people are becoming as disturbed by attacks on American forces, as they are on their own.

"They're fed up with it," says Col. Cloy. And for reasons as simple as the fact that Iraqi civilians have come to know and befriend many of the young American soldiers and Marines who patrol their villages and neighborhoods.

...Iraqi civilians have come to know and befriend many of the young American soldiers and Marines ...

Impossible! How can they befriend American soldiers who terrorize Iraqii women and children, (according to John Francois Kerry.)

"Right sort of men" was once a redundant term, in the proud world we had years ago.

"Men" did not include boys. 30, 40, 50-year old BOYS.

This is an amazing article. The second guesses in congress and MSM are completely and totally wrong in their pessimistic outlook.

In any case I expect that in a year, the MSM will be condeming the strength of the "new military force" we've created in Iraq as a destabilizing entity. An Arab army with Western tactics will start to frighten the status quo jihadists in the region, as it should. Iraq will be the region's strongest nation.

Pelosi, Reid, Dean and other anti America/American rats are putting their party in line for an eventual extermination via funding and in elections.

"Iraqi civilians see the new Iraqi army as servants to the people: Not a force that will abuse them, or steal them away in the night never to be seen again."

But according to Kerry - they should be terrorizing the civilians - you know Jeeeenghis Ghan style. "there is no reason, Bob, that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, you know, women, breaking sort of the customs of the -- of -- of -- of -- historical customs, religious customs, whether you like it or not. Iraqis should be doing that. "

Thanks for the ping Coop - great article.

Thanks for the ping E. Yep. The winds of change. Main thing is it has come to past, regardless of what L/MSM demorats have claimed. These article could have been generated this summer and reflected an honost view as to what is going on. As the Iraqi stand up, we shall stand down. What a simple concrete statement that does not cloud the issue when viewed from the perspective we are fortunate to see.
