Spy Axe 3.0
My PC ^ | 12/6/05 | Me

Posted on 12/06/2005 8:16:34 PM PST by Carling

I hate vanity posts, but I am wondering if anyone in FR land knows anything about the Spy Axe 3.0 virus. It has set up shop in my toolbar and has hijacked my home page.

eTrust isn't touching it. Help?!?!

This one is a bugger. I came home from work and had a pop-up for an on-line casino along with the virus alert bubble.

Things have gone downhill from there.

This must be an emerging epidemic. There is another thread in here about it. Once you get clean, stop going to porn sites!

You could try Ad-Aware from Lavasoft. It's free. Lavasoft

If you can do a system restore back to a previous restore point (I think it's possible in ME and XP), do that. Seems to be the easiest way to fix the problem.

Try AdAware, Spybot, and the Microsoft Anti Spyware program. Also, Hijack This.

If those don't remove it, Google the name of the spyware because you will more than like have to find step by step instructions to manually uninstall it.

Try Microsoft's Anti-Spyware program. It actually is a good program and removes a lot of stuff other anti-spyware programs miss.

Once you get clean, stop going to porn sites!

Then I might as well throw out the computer ... without porn sites, what good is it?

HKEd over at www.suggestafix.com has a fix for it.

Just register (free) and go to the 'Malicious Code: Viruses, Trojans, Spyware and Browser HiJacking' forum.

He'll walk you through it step by step. It's a son of a gun to get rid of. Ed's not only the best there is, he also writes codes to get rid of these parasites.
